Compromised PSN Accounts Used to Make Fraudulent Charges

From what I can tell the mods randomly close threads for going off topic and then de-rail entire threads themselves.

The thread closing is obnoxious as hell.. enjoying a conversation.. spend a few minutes typing up a reply.. "Error. thread closed".

Thanks mods!

Then you come to a thread like this and see the same moderators involved in a similar discussion.

So it's OK for Anderson to go on and on and on off topic but if we call out that pathological liar VaLLiancE thread gets closed before anyone can get him to finally admit he lied?

I'm all for keeping stuff relatively on topic, but this is an incredibly inconsistent forum and far too many threads are closed.. closing a thread should be a LAST RESORT not some knee jerk thing a mod does any time things go slightly off topic.

I admit I'm off topic with some of my posts here, but I thought this dynamic needed addressing (repetitive accusations), and the discussion was already taking place, so I figured I'd address it where it was happening. "On and on?" I've made the point twice. Hyperbolic.

As for that other thread being "slightly off topic," no, it had been off topic for pages. And if you were waiting for Valliance to admit that he lied ... well, good luck with that.

p.s. Any locked threads will have the lock icon next to them, so just look for that, and you won't end up wasting time trying to post in locked threads.

What exactly is the point of closing it?

Topic wasn't exactly mindblowing... clearly no-one cares to continue to discuss AC4 graphics... what do you accomplish closing the thread?

Other than making me close my browser and stop posting last night out of annoyance.

The reply box is also gone.

I had already loaded the thread and was in the thread.. was formulating a reply.. rather obvious from the details in my post what happened.

Either way it killed the only active conversation on the forum, and made it seem like a waste to participate at all in that thread, which I'd spent at least an hour of my day doing yesterday.

Again, what is the point? Who is being harmed by a thread that is pointless being off topic?

You guys dislike forum traffic.. dislike ad revenue?

Because that's what closing threads does. Makes it so people can't post.. which is the entire point of.. you know.. running a forum.

I'll give that some thought. The general answer is that the point is to keep discussions on track. When they get too far off and take on a certain argumentative, circular quality, I don't think it helps the forum to have them open. If we let every thread go wherever it wanted, I think we'd essentially have dozens of "tickle fight" threads going on at once.

But maybe I can loosen up on my thread-locking policies. I'll have to ponder.

Word. I'll boil my opinion down:

De-railing an "official thread" should be a no-no.. other random threads where the main topic didn't take much to go over anyways? Seems harmless to let them get a little off topic.

Like this thread.. I'm not complaining that you guys are having the same conversation that's in every other thread "NO YER A FANBOY, NO YOU!" because the thread topic had already sort of completed.

Anyways, moving on!

You shouldn't have called out apollo if you don't want others calling you out or making it a habit of calling random posters who don't share the same opinion plainview.

Simple as that. You initiated this line of talk.

This has nothing to do with sharing the same opinion as me or not. This isn't about calling out random posters either. It's about simple fallacies. I have no problems with differing opinions. When people attempt to label me as something that is completely false and attacks my character, I have an issue.

Threads usually get closed when they become attack threads of back and forth insults. That's usually how it happens.

Ok, get this. You made it personal when in reality Apollo wasn't trying to when he made his reply. Due to what you said and your tone he responded in like manner.

His response isn't too far off if we all look at how you responded.

Now you got all this chatter and it's done nothing to help or enhance what the union is/was about.
It's just the opposite really.

There's history to this. It wasn't just one time and only in this thread with apollo. It even goes back to TeamXbox days. But I can see what you mean.

LOL actually read what de3d1 said and my responses thx

It's funny how when you read this thread... the person that says the OP made it a Sony issue is actually the person that made it a Sony issue..lol.

You remember that time when Plainview closed that thread about the Xbox ones UI being a pile of sh1t...NM its still going.

I think MW said it best when he said" shut up"

everyone saw it, the fact remains you said 15pfs was playable, but nearly double that isn't simply because a game is on a MS product. You are constantly all over the place and your stance, constantly changing to feed your fanboy agenda, its either the unbiased angle you play or outright convoluted mess no one can understand. You've never fooled anyone, but its funny you think you do. :)

I played it @ 25-45 fps a simple google of Crysis G73JH shows similar results.

I quoted what MANY said and that was that it was playable @15 fps which most people did play it @ when it released if they wanted Highest Details. AND YES I believed this to be the case as I hit 25 fps at times(which isn't much higher) but still enjoyed the game.
My older setup got 15 fps(and less) but I didn't really play it much on it cause as soon as shortly after me checking out the Crysis demo the pc didn't work anymore and I never bothered fixing it.

Sometimes that's just the best response. There's zero point in typing out more than two words.

You still don't get, and you actually pulled yourself even deeper in by revealing even more with this post. You played at 15fps and it was playable, but yet DR3 a game you've admitted you never tried running at almost double the framerate is unplayable? Makes no sense, especially the fact you haven't even tried it. But AGAIN, MS exclusive, so it does make sense.

I see what you're saying and partially agree, partially don't agree. I agree that the original topic of threads sometimes run their course and other "side-topics" come out of them that people want to talk about. I think if those side-topics are of any value then it's ok to keep the thread open or maybe even merge that topic to a new separate thread where it's easier to find and then close the original because the conversation has stopped. When the side-topics are of no value though I think there needs to come a point where the thread gets closed or it'll just get worse and worse. If someone who just joined this site decided to go into one of those threads, jumps to the end, and sees 10-15 pages of off topic name calling it might scare him away from the site for good.

I couldn't or he couldn't?

I don't care who started it (geez, I feel like a parent). It would've been better, had you just let it drop. Now we're in for another round of "Did Valliance lie?"

People think they have to respond whenever some "calls them out." You don't have to, you know. Sometimes the best course is just to let something go. Always having to have a "comeback" usually looks like defensiveness, at least to me.

lol thats not what i said

"You look to point fingers at anybody that posts anything about the PlayStation that happens to not be positive. Keep up the crusade."

thats just calling it how it is, everyone knows its true

U must have me confused for someone else I never had anything to say to u on TXB. The only issued I had was when you went all control freak like and told ppl they couldn't call the X1 the "Xbone".

Let's move past this. Realize I don't like being called something or accused of something I am not. I'll leave it at that. Let's move on.
