OMG, what a pain to download this game with the new update. I had downloaded the game the night before the release of the new update thinking it would save me some time. But nope, that's the PS4 version which won't update on its own. We need the PS5 version which I thought was just stupid since I just want the update and didn't think I'd need an entirely new version of the game but we do. I swear, Sony's process for game updates needs an overhaul for simplicity.

Sony needs: SMART DELIVERY. But that'll never happen since their console was never designed for it in mind. :really:

Super annoying. The 10 minute "copying" process for tiny little updates is what kills me!

The new camera sucks. I don't want to be zoomed in.

It took me maybe 5 seconds before I changed it. The ultra zoomed in camera is one of the things about the recent God of Wars I've never liked. A shooter camera in a melee game doesn't work for me.

At least you don't have to redownload the game all over again. And since I'm working from home I can't do it right now as it slows my connection to the firm's network. I don't know, maybe it was my fault for not reading a statement somewhere that said in order to get this new update we'd have to wait until it went live yesterday to download a completely new version of the game.

I really wanted to check this out last night and was super bummed I couldn't and now I most likely won't be able to check it out tonight since the download is so large. I know, having to wait a few days is not the end of the world but its super annoying and another example of Sony engineers shortsightedness in their design for the console.

BTW, I also hate the copying process to implement an update. After the disappointment of not being able to check out the update for this game. There was a small update for GoW: Raganrok and the copying process took longer than the download of the update. :smash:

Too bad they can’t load GoW R patches while you squeeze through another crevice…..

Found out the update also enabled cross-saves. Just crossed over my completed Xbox save and used it to start a new game plus on Playstation for my first playthrough on that system.

Did that Wandering In The Dark quest and then helped her find the lamp. Felt like I was down in these caves for hours. The difficulty spikes in this game at times are ceazy. That gargoyle kicked my a** a bunch of times till I looked up best way to beat it.

I'm on this mission now, I think I blocked my memory of this mission because it's annoying. "Wandering in the Dark" is a perfect name for this mission, I feel like I've already been in these stupid caves 5 times longer than was interesting, and I'm still not done with the mission!

I was able to do the same thing. But its been so long that I don't remember how to play the build I had. I know it had something to do with keeping toxic levels high for extra damage but I don't remember which potions I used back in the day for more buffs. Ohh well, I'm starting over so it shouldn't matter too much. My transferred completed game save file had the date of 2018. I can't believe its been over 4 years since I played this masterpiece.

I only played this 15 minutes since the upgrade. Too busy catching up on PS5 games I missed out on to bother with it.

How was your 15 minutes?

Underwhelming. I'm still in White Orchard on the Xbox version, so I wasn't really impressed with the graphics in that area. The Series X already had 60fps, so that was expected. I already put 250+ hours into the PS4 version, so I'm not feeling much of an urge to play it right now anyway.

What happened to the hdr? It's like they turned it off!

I've had a bug happen once where the game started without HDR launching, perhaps you had the same. Closed the game and restarted and it fixed itself.

Otherwise, seems improved to me as it finally is tied into the internal console HDR adjusting tools. The prior Xbox version would always crush blacks even if you used the in game slider, and the white data (clouds, sun) would often be beyond a displays capabilities since the system HDR tools didn't affect the in game setup.

Hmmm, wonder if it's my TV. I gotta admit the hdr on my newish Sony TV is only half as good as my old 2016 Samsung (KS 8500).

Still, right now it doesn't look like ANY HDR is on. It has that washed out look

I know how you feel. I put in a lot of time when I played on Xbox and did everything there was. It looks great on the PS5 but after a few hours it all started to come back to me. Plus, I was wondering if there's anything for me to chase after. I transferred my save from Xbox to PS and I now have my grandmaster armor, high damaging weapons.

I even increased the difficulty to max on NG+ to see if there was a challenge to be found. The enemies hit really hard but since my build makes it so I regain health after each of my sword attacks it seems impossible to die.

You can chase down the new Netflix gear and try out this build. :hehe:

I suggest dropping the blacks on your console slider to the absolute lowest base "black" setting. HDTV Test recommended not following the system recommendations on either Xbox or PS and leaving it at the absolute minimum for playing in dark environments. That really seemed to help in this game, even when I'm playing in the day time.

One of the videos I watched about new changes in the Next Gen update did say they've made night time and other dark areas more "visible" on this version, it apparently was a conscious decision since Witchers are supposed to be able to see well in the dark (I'm also guessing they had data on people meditating at night so they could play during the day time instead)!

The hot fix improved performance for me. I get a stable 50 fps with all settings max. The game looks incredible. Before the fix, tthe fps was fluctuating so badly it was unplayable.

I'm loving the game. The 3rd person camera is cool for exploration. I have it at default for combat because of the wider fov.

You mean in the HDR calibration?

It seems PS5 now has a draw distance advantage, but Series X has an advantage in resolution and framerate in the RT mode. PS5 has an advantage in FPS in Performance mode in the cities, but Series X has a slight advantage in FPS in Performance mode in combat, but Series X has higher resolution in Performance mode again.

They mentioned that a 4.02 patch addressing issues in all versions is coming, so this will probably be a Cyberpunk 2077 scenario where all versions are gradually optimized over a few months.
