Honestly, I feel like this week there have been some boneheaded decisions. They haven’t unlocked these games at midnight, and with months of planning, who’s idea was it to release the Ascent and start Halo Infinite flights on the same day?

I can't remember when a digital game unlocked at 10:00 am Pacific, such an odd time. I think we are all used to games opening up at midnight on the east coast and 9:00 pm here on the west coast in North America.

Still no reviews up for a game releasing in 11 hours
I hope that's just because they got review copies late or something. It doesn't sound like an overly long game so it shouldn't have taken them more than a couple of days to review it.

First review is 8.8

The Ascent picks up the glove to become the "Diablo with guns" and the result is a game with astonishing action and a superb design.

You can't get to the review yet though, but it shows up under google search.

Verdict 7/10

The Ascent’s satisfying gun-tastic action-RPG gameplay loop mixes with its beautiful cyberpunk aesthetic to create an overall enjoyable experience. Neither its story nor its characters are all that memorable, and its enemy encounters can stumble toward the end, but its gunplay and ultra-violence in a neon-soaked world combine to craft a co-op-friendly game you don’t see every day.

Relax, either it's great.... Mediocre... Or it sucks.
Either way, fun times will follow in this forum.
It's not that I'm stressing about it, I just found it really really weird that reviews didn't come out until four hours before release. Generally that's not a good sign IMO.

In Short: A deeply disappointing co-op shooter that squanders its excellent graphics on a bland and repetitive attempt to make a sci-fi Diablo.

Pros: The combat is okay and if you can find friends to play with the co-op has potential. Incredibly good graphics, especially at a distance.

Cons: Horribly shallow and repetitive action, with terrible mission design and unengaging storytelling. Awful artificial intelligence and in-game map. No online matchmaking and lots of bugs.

Score: 3/10

How can it have a 75 MC for PC, but a 65 for Xbox…?
The 3/10 from Metro hit the Xbox Series X review at Metacritic. Not the PC at Metacritic. OpenCritic does a better job. They combine Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC as one game.
