2014 Electronic Arts E3 Conference Thread

I understand what you're saying from a gamers perspective but from a business perspective, they need Madden, FIFA and Battlefield out every year because those are their cash cows. It wouldn't surprise me if the profits made from those games went to fund some of the less financially viable games such as Mirrors Edge.

Valid point, but especially where their sports titles are concerned, do they really need to do a full scale release EVERY year? Couldn't they release them every other year with the "tween" years being updated with new rosters, modes, etc. via DLC?

Not really. People who love sports games are more than happy to fork over $60 a year for a full scale release. I don't play EA's games that much anymore. Haven't bought Madden in years but if 2k stopped releasing an NBA 2k game every year i'd lose it. I love that franchise and the new rosters, slight graphics improvements, etc each year are more than enough.

They could, but when your fan base is willing to fork over $60 for roster changes and game play tweaks every year, you satisfy that audience and your pocket by giving them what they want. Ea is simply filling the demand for their product. Now if fans demand for the change you described earlier with their wallets then yearly releases would change. Can't blame EA on this one. Purely consumer driven IMO.

Other than Dragon Age, there isn't anything EA has that I care about in the slightest.
