The delay was to avoid going head to head with Spiderman 2. Smart tbh.

Speaking of other games, you moved the release date by a week and in an active transparency, I don't think I've ever seen before in-game development. And we're so used to, "Here's the JPEG on Twitter of the big text." And you see it and you're like, "Oh no, it's going to get delayed." And I saw yours and I was like, "We're in trouble. It's going to go all the way to next year or something." And it was like, "No, it's just a week."

Sam Lake: October is very crowded with awesome, brilliant games coming out.

Yeah, I just appreciated that you were like, "There's other games out there. Go play them, but also play ours too." What was the decision behind that? Because I loved it. That's the transparency we love.

SL: Well, we were looking at the week and we were looking at these brilliant, brilliant giant games coming out, Spider-Man 2 and all, and just felt like, well, we don't have to go neck to neck. We can just kind of shift it a couple of days...

And all... so no not just because of one game.

They should have moved the date as soon as they saw the heavy fixture.

Alan Wake 2 is among the most impressive games releasing in the coming months, and the fact that a relatively small team is developing it makes the next title by Remedy even more impressive.

The studio's Communications Director Thomas Puha revealed that the game is being done with about 130 people on average for about four years of development time. Considering how good the game looks, it is extremely impressive how Remedy has achieved this with a very small team compared to almost every AAA production.

I’ll also say that somehow we are getting this game done with about 130 people on average for about 4 years of dev time (dev time is a very elastic term tho) for the quality level we got, is incredible. We are very, very far from 1st parties or other big studios resources.

In addition, Alan Wake 2 was developed under some difficult conditions, which made it the toughest game developed by Remedy. During these years, the studio had to deal with the difficulties of the pandemic as well as the challenges that came from the studio going through its biggest transformation in 28 years of history.

Yeah, but, where’s split screen, how many puddles are there, what’s chapter three like, can I pet anything?
