While we're waiting, I REALLY want them to give us a 1080p / 60fps X1 version of the original and American Nightmare. Make it done, guyz.

We will definitely get to play Alan Wake. Because Microsoft and Remedy are in the business of making money. It's going to be amazing.

Stop teasing us!!!

Just about confirms it will continue to be an Microsoft exclusive.

Sam said it was the game he was most proud of, of course he would want to believe it would return one day.

I'd say their options are limited to Kickstarter though. It's been 5 years, no other publisher has stepped up to the plate for a sequel....never say never, but it's clear there's not much interest from publishers. Probably because Remedy won't surrender the IP.

MS....well, it's clear they are interested in owning the IP and they wanted something more action gamey then psychological horrory. I don't think they're interested.

MS wanted to continue with the smaller digital approach at the time. Game has now sold over 4.5M so that's a lot of possible interest plus Spenser seems very happy working with Remedy.

Too many teases now for nothing IMO.

Filing type: Word? Does that mean a book?
You can trademark words like a title or name, or you can trademark an image like a logo. Or both, if applicable. In this case they appear to be just trademarking the title, that's what the "Filing Type: Word" presumably refers to.

Can you file for a dance? Bitches have been stealing my moves for years.

I don't know if Remedy can get Alan Wake 2 out this gen though. They take their sweet time making games.

For me their games are well worth the wait so let them take their time. Heck i imagine it would make a great launch title for "Xbox Too"

MS should marry Remedy then let Sam have full creative control pretty much give him whatever he demands (larger and better team, more gaming control over other departments etc.) and not see this company as a cash cow but more as one of the backbones of xbox and gaming. Remedy might not make a lot of money for Xbox and MS but they give life to their games, it's an art form. It's a heck of a portfolio to have. And all of this on limited resources. Plus MS is also a bit at fault here for not doing Remedy right with their s***ty marketing especially on AW. I know it's a business and it's sad that AW2 didn't get made back then because of AWs lack of great sales but MS should stop seeing Remedy as a way to just make profit. The goodwill they get from gamers with Remedy far exceeds the short term lack of financial income on their IPs imo. And Remedy besides being one of the best gaming companies are also one of the more friendly, kind ones. They're nothing like EA or Activision. They would never screw you over. They'd get screwed over and still act very gracious and grateful. Man I hope QB will sell well I'm buying it twice digital + physical (not that I think it'll make any difference) just because of my love for Remedy.

If MS is really serious about gaming and are in it longterm they need to ''own'' the great companies like Remedy. Rare is another too for that target group it's as good as it's gonna get. They F'd them over too for almost 10 years by limiting their talent to sh1t Kinect. I don't mean own as buy and change things but just own in terms of letting them work under and for MS. Keep the names, people etc. change nothing give them creative control let them choose the projects they want to work on. They really need to extend their portfolio.

Quantum Break includes a trailer for Alan Wake's Return
But what is it?

Alan Wake's Return, which popped up last week in domain name and trademark listings filed by developer Remedy, is real. Sort of.

Hidden in Quantum Break is a live action trailer, viewable on an in-game TV set. But rather than a new game, it sounds like Alan Wake's Return is a live-action adaptation.

The trailer has yet to surface online, but details posted by Polygon detail the reappearance of Wake, presumably after the events of the original game and spin-off American Nightmare.

Characters note that Wake has been gone for five years. Remedy boss Sam Lake appears as Alex Casey, the fictional protagonist in Wake's own series of novels, who is now real - and who it looks like Wake has just killed. Confused yet?

The trailer ends with the word "Return" on screen, followed by "What lies beneath the surface", perhaps referring to Wake's subconscious or the lake in which he was imprisoned.

Remedy has included TV shows in all of its games - Alan Wake had its own Twin Peaks-style series, Night Springs - but is this something more? It remains to be seen how much Alan Wake will factor in Quantum Break, or if the two will be related.

Microsoft certainly wants you caught up on the Alan Wake series, though - the original game is included with every copy of Quantum Break, while you'll also get American Nightmare if you pre-order.

Believe this was refuted by Remedy and the trademark refers to the in game video content played on the TVs in Quantum Break. Not saying its not coming (one of my fav games from last gen), but seems like this could be a big blue ball.

Well it's not dead but sucks that is likely not coming anytime soon

I think it is dead. At some point so much time goes by that it stops being worth it to continue it. Its hard to picture Alan Wake 2 coming out 10-15 years after the first.
