And Here We Go Again...

Games like Prey for Xbox 360 and PC are sending the message to people that women deserve violence against them and that they have it coming. And Hitman: Absolution is just begging players to mutilate hookers for a sick turn-on of dead women corpses because of whatever. She'ss a liar and a troll. Made it rich off of people's ignorance. And the only ones not fooled are the ones actually play the games, us gamers.

and look, the internet responds in the manner in which is common

"Some very scary threats have just been made against me and my family," she wrote on Twitter. "Contacting authorities now." A follow-up tweet read: "I'm safe. Authorities have been notified. Staying with friends tonight. I'm not giving up. But this harassment of women in tech must stop!"

I guess reposnidng with thoughtful comments to the contrary or how men are always brutalized in video games was too much to ask for.

Waiting for Anita's review of how Twilight is sexist against women, despite it's formula being identical to any and all romance novels created by and for women.

Pretty bummed that Joss Whedon decided to support her, I thought he was smarter than that. I thought he would definitely be one of those that could see through the stretched truth, distorted views and downright lies in her project.

If she bought all of those games, why does she use other peoples gameplay footage?

Does she play all those games for research?

So far I think what she does is find games with female characters and then complain about how they are portrayed and paint it in a negative light no matter what.

I've played the demo, and I do feel like the character is highly sexualized, but then again, I felt like that was parody, but I don't think she's entirely off the mark with Bayonetta either. The game definitely seemed to have ingredients of the "sex sells" philosophy when I played it. Whether you personally find it good or bad is another discussion, but in that specific case, I don't think she's 100% in the wrong.

IMO, the game is simply DMC with a female lead. They keep all of the flashy camera shots and sexual innuendos, but simply have a female main character.

Not to say you're in the same boat as this guy, but Whedon had a funny tweet that your comment reminded me of:

She talk complaining about murdered women in Bioshock wearing dresses and murdered men wearing suits doesn't make any sense either. There wasn't anything provocative about it, and the attire was fitting and formal for their respective genders. Then she talks about a scripted situation in GTAV where a woman is being held down by two men on the side of the road and talks about how you can either save her "or watching a scene play out," and that doesn't make any sense because there is no scene to play out. All you have is the same animation being looped of her having her arms pinned behind her back and nothing happens.

Why do feminists drone on about women being objectified when it's common practice for women to rely on make up to appear more attractive? Double standard.

I would never blast Whedon in such a manner, I have far too much respect and love for the man, but still disappointed with him.

What's neat too is that Anita says that the more you like video games, the more the can't see her truth, and it's a lame dismissal designed to discredit people who actually know what these games are about so she can continue her lies. It's terrible the recognition she has gotten.

Damn, I should create a Kickstarter founded on a completely asinine argument.

as a male you'd not get s*** she only got money cause she was female. So where are the videos how she used that to her advantage. I bet she won't do that.

According to a video I saw recently kittens are nothing but little balls of sickness. So I can understand the impulse for histrionics.

I'll be honest. Never heard of this Anita feminist until i came across this thread. I kind of wish it stayed that way because i hate people like this.

If it was me I wouldn't even make a thread about it to not spread garbage.

The big problem with stuff like this, does not matter if it is feminism or racism or things of similar nature and importance, is when you continually do it for silly stuff that does not really matter because then people tend to ignore it on all points regardless of importance. Is like the boy who cried wolf.

If you want to combat Feminism, Racism, religious hate...etc. You need to do it when it is most important, when it can be best understood, and where it is far harder to ignore. I see this woman doing far more damage than good.
