Anyone feeling the summer drought yet?

Yes, I'll still be able to find something to play but none of those titles really make me want to go and play it that much like how Watch Dogs or Wolfenstein does. Oh well, I'm just waiting for Transistor and Valiant Hearts to have a discount as well so I can play them.

Yeah, I think I'll go and give DR3 a try. It's only $20 right now. Should last me until TLoU remastered along with all the other titles I've listed.
TF , I've tried the beta on PC. Definitely a no go since it got old quickly for me. No SP really brought down the appeal for me since I play most of my competitive FPS on the PC.

PvZ, I'm still thinking about it so it's a maybe.

I beat TR DE back in January already too. It was a great game. I haven't tried much of PS4's F2P offerings yet because I feel like they're going to be a grind of which I don't want to spend hours and hours on.

I see, you're a pretty active gamer and I salute you for that. Yeah, F2P might be a grind but some gamers like a massive time sink in their games so I threw it out there. Sorry none of my recommendations helped against the lack of appealing gaming for you. I guess you have to be a little patient for now and maybe cruise the web's gaming sites in the hopes that there is something you missed that grabs your attention.

Definitely give DR3 a go, especially for $20. I played both 1&2 and was kinda burnt of the series, however DR3 is crazy fun. Easily the best in the series, especially w/a friend.

Just went out and got DR3. Installing it now. WTF @ the 16 Gb update/download lol.

Since May, I've played Infamous: Second Sons, Wolfenstein, and now Watch Dogs.

Wolfenstein was excellent, Infamous was very good, and Watch Dogs is solid, especially for late spring/early summer games. I'm currently about 25% of the way through Watch Dogs and enjoying it, though it's no GTA.

When I'm done with Watch Dogs, I'll move on to the Destiny Beta for a week. After that I'll have a 45 day or so gap until Destiny launches. After Watch Dogs, I will have played essentially every next gen One or PS4 game I wanted up through now.

I'll use that time to possibly catch up on 1 or 2 last-gen games that I always wanted to, but have never played out of Dead Island, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock 2, Saints Row IV, Shadow Complex, and Syndicate.

Uber difficulty?

Man, I finished it on Uber and some parts in Wolfenstein are just straight out frustrating but I learned that using the beam gun was the best strategy in taking down heavy enemies.

death incarnate. i stay away from highest difficulties because it's always frustrating

Stating facts = trolling now.

This forum is f***ing worthless.

It's not really facts, though, it's just opinion. For TD, the X1 is overflowing with possibilities. For naty (mangoes), it's not. It's a matter of opinion, and the opinion depends on your tastes in games. This is obvious but gets forgotten all the time. People state their opinions as if they are indisputable facts. This is the problem.

"The X1 has nothing until Fall."

"The Xbox One has more games right now, that's all there is to it."

And so forth.

Well unless Mangoes is outright lying that X1 doesn't have any exclusives until the Fall and PS4 only has a remake, I don't see problem with his post. Then there are worthless posts that say he bought his X1 just so he had an excuse to talk s*** about the console. Give me a break.

I don't have a problem with Mangoes' post (he didn't say exclusives, though). I'm just saying that when you phrase opinions about the "other side" as facts, you are inviting the same in return (enter TD, saying X1 is da greatest and that's a fact) and other fanboy nonsense.

Isn't it a given that 99 percent of the time people are stating opinions. Do we really need everyone putting IMO at the end of everything so people don't get butt hurt?

No exclusive big name games anywhere for at least 3 weeks and that's only for the PS4. The X1 has nothing until Fall.

This from his original post is what I'm going off of. Oh well I'm past this now.

This forum is f***ing worthless.

Saying the Xbox One has nothing coming and acting like the PS4 has anything is ridiculous. The Last of Us remaster.. It's a last gen game with sprinkles on top. Sony sure is killing Microsoft this year!

The thread is worthless. That's all I was pointing out. If you want to discuss the usual Summer drought we get every year, go for it. No need for the blatant bias though.

Kind of on new-gen consoles.. :-/
Probably got less than 3 hours on WatchDogs - got stuck on the first car-race - but the main characther were so boring that I don't think I will load it up to continue... :-/

I wish I knew the rules of how baseball were played - not beeing american I don't know the rules proper - I've been watching this let'splay by Goldglovelet'splays, and it is really fun to watch, a proper Road to the show, instead of just exhibition matches.. :-/ Graphics get's butchered on youtube tough.

On PC it's abit better, just started Xenonauts the other day, and are close to 50 hours in allready.. :)

The summer drought is no fanboy argument. Things always dry up in the summer for both brands for as long as I can remember. The console wars on next gen consoles shouldn't even start until the next calendar year.

No, but Viktor said the forum is worthless, and I'm suggesting a way to make it less worthless. A little "imo" every once in a while can't hurt, especially if you have a reputation for being one-sided.

But you're stating the other side of the coin -- people have too thin a skin, when it comes to this stuff. I agree with that. "You put down my favorite console, I must retaliate." I wish people could shrug this stuff off. It's just some guy's opinion.

It would be helpful if someone would post a list of games actually available during July and August. (edit: never mind; see below)

An innocent thread about game drought turning into console war....

Just a thought, Why not considered some Good Indies games, or your PC is decent, check out some cool games on PC. Its only a game drought, if you only play 'AAA' games.

I went through the Gamestop catalog. I don't know if these are accurate, but here's what's listed. It doesn't include indie games, any games already released in July, or all the games already released.

July:
7/29 Last of Us Remastered (PS4)

August:
8/5 Killzone Shadowfall Intercept (PS4)
8/19 Plants vs. Zombies (PS4, already out on X1 I think)
8/19 Diablo III (listed for both)
8/26 Madden NFL 15 (both)
8/26 Metro Redux (both)
8/26 Infamous First Light (PS4)

That's pretty slim pickens' for July (although more than enough for me, since I've never played Last of Us). I'd be eyeing Diablo and Infamous for late August, possibly Metro Redux as well, if I didn't have a prior engagement in early Sept.

p.s. I just noticed that Oddworld is out on 7/22 and Hohokum on 8/12 for the PS4. Those would be two other games I'd pick up, or at least one of them.

Not sure if this is complete, but this is what I know of coming in August

Below
Ultra Street fighter
Sacred 3
Risen 3
Wasteland 2
The Last of Us
Metro Redux
Samurai Warriors 4

You would think, but it seems if you do not put it in people assume you are trying to state a fact.

Could you identify which platforms those are coming to? I know Below is coming to X1, TLoU is PS4, and Metro is cross-platform, but I don't know about the others. They weren't listed under X1 or PS4 at Gamestop's site. Are they all PC?

Some people (whose name starts with TD) will often state an opinion as a fact. I don't mean implicitly; I mean he will literally say, "The X1 has better games, and that's just a fact." That's the kind of stuff that could use an "imo" to lighten it up. Imo.

I could be wrong but i don't think i've used the word "fact" since we were posting at TXB. If i did i don't mean to. Often times i'll say, "that's just the way it is". Or something along those lines. It's kind of different, in my book. Maybe i'm implying that it's a fact but come on. This is the internet after all. Anyone taking anything they read on the net as fact has bigger problems to begin with.

I am taking advantage of the drought to play through games I missed. I just bought darksiders 2 for only ten bucks with the Xbox summer deal and I am loving it.
I was going to buy the Last of us but I am going to wait. Although it is an amazing game I am not double dipping so soon. It was definitely my favorite game of last year but it is also emotional taxing to play. When you finish you feel like you have been on a journey. To all those that haven't played it I heartedly recommend it.

Hey, the same thing happened to me when I first started Watch Dogs. I tried a fixer side mission as soon as they were available at the beginning of the game and was demoralized because it was too difficult. I suggest you progress the campaign missions first, at least do a few and unlock a couple abilities to hack more of the environment which will help out with the vehicle side missions. I'm almost near the end of the campaign and its been a fun ride at least after the initial few hours. Watch Dogs starts off slow but it gets better.

Your reading comprehension is non existent.

He doesn't comprehend things that go against him or what he says, even with factual evidence. He'll either completely ignore your proof or try and prove facts as fiction. He's pathetic.

I have to finish all of my older games first, especially my PS+ backlog. I just finished Kingdoms of Amaleur and now am thinking of either Binary Domain or Metro Last Light. When there is nothing to really play I always load up Mechwarrior Online or Marvel Heroes 2015.

But yeah, the draught of new games is making me put of purchasing a new console until this Fall. There's nothing I want right now that is out on the Xbox One or PS4. I'm waiting for a good bundle with a game I want in the upcoming months.

My personal opinion on gaming droughts are that to even mention it you either 1.) have narrow interests or 2.) spend an unhealthy amount of your time gaming. Woe to us that are neither as we have an insurmountable backlog of games to play/finish.
