Are you buying a Playstation 4? Why or why not?

I love reading people's opinions, far better than reading something from a paid journalist who has their stuff edited and revised for various reasons other than giving an honest non-sugar coated opinion.

If you're buying a Playstation 4, what is the one thing or multiple things that helped you in your decision?

If you're not buying a Playstation 4, what is the one thing or many things that helped you in your decision?

I'm really curious to learn about people's reasoning behind their purchase decision or non-purchase decision. Is there something the PS4 has that you have to have? Is there something the PS4 is lacking that if it did have it, it would change your mind in buying it?

Be honest and don't hold back.

Wait and see.

At the moment it has no games I want that I wont be able to get on XBox One apart from Infamous 3 and even then ill take the Crackdown series over that and MS have teased C3 every chance they get.

My biggest issue with the PS has been the controller but that appears to have finally been sorted so its just up to what games they offer.

Day one. Big KZ fan and Infamous fan. The one multiplatform game I care about right now--BF4--runs best on it. I'm already a Plus member for another two years.

I'm sold, but just not quite yet. I'll get one in a year or so.

As for why, well ... power, price, lack of mandatory camera, lack of emphasis on features I don't care about, ease of development, much improved controller, none of the corporate initiatives you saw across the aisle, Sony has more to lose so will work harder, openness to indy developers, a broader variety of game types, more focus on good SP games, and it's time for a change after a decade as an Xboy.

Yeah I'm getting one. Sony has been delivering the exclusives I've enjoyed the most. So I can't wait to see what they cna do on more powerful hardware. Imagine the next Uncharted?

I am getting it at launch.

I prefer the games on the PS brand. The second wave of games coming in the spring i think are especially solid- The Show, Deep Down, Drive Club, Infamous, etc. I am going to steal AMC's tagline- story matters here. I feel Sony has a stronger stable of RPGs and games that are story driven than the Xbox brand does (speaking in generality). I find these games are a little deeper and thought provoking.

I also feel that Sony not pushing apps like Netflix behind a paywall is the right thing to do. Even though i do have PS+, its nice to know i could enjoy just about every feature or apps without needing it. PS+ providing so many free games per month i also think is a big plus.

So in short, i think Sony has the better games and i do like the PS+ service providing additional games i could play each month.

Yes, but after the xbox. At launch the PS4 has no games I want, but Infamous comes in January (?) and I want that.

I'm getting one. Just a question of when I'll actually see one for sale here. Then there is the cost. If it was the standard $400 bones I'd be all over it but sadly it will be more, much more.

Getting one at launch, a second soonish after.

Why? I buy most consoles that are released, but what I'm looking forward to the most or planning on buying are Killzone and Infamous, probably followed by Destiny since Bungie appears to be favoring the PS4.

I'll pick one up when Naughty Dog releases their next game. No other PS game is compelling enough for me.
I concur. There's no games that interest me. Just like last generation; I'll get a PS4 a year or 2 later.

Getting a PS4 on day 1.

I’m a huge fan of gaming and had to choose one nexgen console to purchase at launch. So I went with the PS4 given its power advantage. I will get the XBO at or around Christmas time as no true gamer (who can afford it) would go without both. ;)

Launch day for me, console/controller of choice amongst friends and family alongside Fifa. Like I stated in the other thread I will pick up an Xbox One when Halo is available.

I'm getting one.

I want a new gaming console, so I went with the one that's more of a gaming console instead of making gaming an afterthought.

I was only a 360 and PC user for current gen and not because I was a MS fanboy. I just saw no need for owning 2 consoles at the same time. I feel like I missed out on all the games on Sony's side...which is a lot compared to MS so'm getting a PS4 day 1. All the games I mostly played on my 360 was multiplat because MS pretty much abandoned the 360 years ago with good 1st party titles. Multiplats look like they will be better on Sony's system this time. I don't want to keep playing just Gears and Halo that sh!t is played out. Don't know why MS never came out with Alan Wake 2 or Halo Wars 2...hopefully next gen they'll make those games and not late into the consoles cycle.

PS4.

Cheaper but more powerful on paper. Essentially paying less for more.

I prefer the PS exclusives more than the Xbox's. God of War, Uncharted series, Heavy Rain/Beyond 2 souls, LBP series, The Last of Us, Infamous series vs. Gears. Yeah, no brainer.

Great free games for PS+ each month.

No mandatory camera/kinect.

Didn't like MS's initial approach to try and shove things down my throat.

Don't like how you need to get Live to use other apps you are already paying for i.e. netflix.

Most of MS exclusives can probably be played on the PC so I feel like it's redundant to get the Xbox One.

No time to get both this generation so had to choose one. But from what I've experienced last gen, PS only suits my lifestyle more.

Buying one: Yes

When: Late December I'm told, AU has gone crazy for the Quad and with the pre-orders being sold out all the way into December the earliest I can hope for is 24-31 December.

X1 will keep me at bay...

Why are you buying: I wants them gamez and 1080p is nice too.

yes iam geting a PS4 day one because sony has better frist party games
and its 100 dollar cheaper and no focred camaera i might geta x1 in a few years

I'm going to get one sometime down the road. Before I purchase one, several games need to be released; A new Dynasty Warriors (preferably of the Empires variety), MLB: The Show 14 and a JRPG worth playing. Once that happens, I'm all in.

The lack of RPG's on both new consoles is disappointing. Is a pretty long wait for things like Witcher 3 and the Diversion....Oh, and DA3.

Ill get it when infamous comes out. The launch games don't appeal to me at all, well maybe if DriveClub was still in the loop. Multi platform games are always going to be purchased on PC for me.

I was sold the moment Sony's E3 presentation was over.
Also, PSN+ is a great value, goes without saying.
It's $100 cheaper, more powerful, and will have amazing exclusives and a wider variety of games.

On a side note, the machine is really a work of art too. The engineering is second to none.
How they managed to make the machine 1/2 the size of the competition, while still keeping the power brick INSIDE the console, is really impressive.
I like the wedge design too, and the LED strip light. You can tell they spent a LOT of time working on this product (right down to that little screw with the PlayStation shapes on it.)

Eh, thing for me is that Sony's exclusives just never really grabbed me. Every time I tried them out, I was kind of meh about them. Quite frankly, I don't see that changing to be honest. It's not a knock against the PS, but they just really didn't interest me on the PS3 where I had a much better experience with the PS2. Still though, they got a whole new gen to convince me otherwise. At the moment though, I have no plans to get a PS4.

I am getting one at launch....but no games. Nothing at launch is of interest so I will wait until something comes along. Kindof silly not to wait but I've got the funds and don't want to be bothered trying to find one when a game does come along I want. Could be a multiplat title if they end up looking and running better on PS4. In the meantime I'm getting 4 games for my X1.

Same as with the Xbox not enough games of interest to me yet.

Second Son could get me to buy one, Infamous is my favorite IP of the current gen, but not on its own, I'm gonna need more than one interesting title to buy.

Yup, looks like ps4 will be my shooter platform of choice, but strangely enough I'm waiting until infamous to get a ps4, and backlog kz, probably rebuy BF4 as well

In comparison to the XBO and its games/services.....

+ Better 1st party exclusives/devs
+ Lower priced
+ More powerful
+ Better controller
+ PS+ offers much more
+ Better launch games/better versions of 3rd party games
+ Upgradable HDD that's SSD capable
+ Better UI
