Artist Alley

I still like this general look and messed with it some more. These are 2 avatars I made to use in VRChat.

Very much based on CLU from TRON: Legacy

I am still a sucker for the glowy Emission / Bloom effect.

Models created in Vroid then edited textures in GIMP. Added final FX in Unity.

Thought this article was interesting and relates to what I'm messing with. For now, people who make worlds or custom avatars rely on 3rd party websites to interact with supporters. People wither subscribe to a Patreon or buy Avatars from other websites. They want to get all this simplified on their platform.

I don't know if I'll ever get to this level, but for now it's cool to dabble in making Avatars and eventually maybe make a world to share them.

Early Halloween mood.

This is the same guy I already posted, just put on different clothes. I have to say, the clothes come included with Vroid, I did not make them.

However, I did change the hair and the eyes and added the cool glowy Bloom effect.

I'd like to do something else a little more Sci-Fi, but it's tricky having little time to try 3D modeling. I take template shortcuts and make things work by altering the textures.

What are you using to model?

I have a technical question on Unity regarding my above avatar project.

I'm applying something like the Fortnight Galaxy Skin to it.

So far, I've managed to make a material with a Panosphere option and applies the image in this way making it look like the character has a 'Skybox' inside them. However, just dropping this material wipes out other details I'd like to keep like the strips on the uniform.
When I applied Emission to the project, I had to use Masking. I wonder if there is a Masking option to selectively apply Materials or Shaders to part of an object and not the whole thing?

( NOTE: I'm using this for VRChat which does not support URP or the Shader Graph builder as far as I know. I've had some luck using a plugin called Poiyomi )

Upgrade avatar project.

I put stock Vroid textures through Leonardo.AI and it was a cool way work on it. I did crudely put the blue lines on and the AI incorporated it.

This was nice because doing a detailed 3D character outfit texture would be a pain in the ass. I have no idea how people make professional looking textures for Vroid.

I decided to improve & practice my digital painting, & started work on this after watching youtube guide on painting portraits.

I will continue after Christmas dinner. I missed today's lunch painting this. I was hungry & didn't care & wanted to make progress before dinner celebration..

Classic Jean Grey concept for 3D print. I will take a short break, then start on the 3D modeling/sculpting come 2024.

My first Diorama video. I am new to making dioramas. Testing for my channel. Feel free to critique, both the work and the video.

Bought a new camera table hanger so I can get a sweet top-down view. Unfortunately, Amazon mixed up my Sony Zv-E10 camera for some sweets & skincare lotion, & I have to send the package back. Only when the package arrives at Amazon, wil they refund my cost of purchase. Then I have to repurchase the camera, (yawn)

So I used my phone for this.

Also, I had been super hard at work,....at work (crazy work now, just returned from 3 days business trip)

Also I am hard art work with the Classic Jean Grey 3dprint. Its fairly far, but I wanted to get all done before posting videos. I think I have over 3-4 hours footage to extract.

I also try some environmental drawings. It not really my thing ( I usually draw people) , but you have to start somewhere.

Anyway, I am thinking of adding "Draw Along" as YouTube content rotation, but I want to build up my skill level first.
I am also buying a ipad pro with drawing tool Procreate as part of "draw along" youtube content , as well as a place to consolidate my drawing & concepts. I have sketches everywhere now. At least 20 different books. When I am watching Tv, bore in online meeting, I just draw on whatever paper I can find & its getting messy.

Just to share a bit on my 3D print/youtube content status.

This is just 50% (maybe less) of raw videos I have to edit, digital modeling/sculpting is about 70% done, but there is still 3D print, painting, photoshoot, video roundtable....

It will be broken down to multiple videos, following the progress, and including "guides/how-to" on the process.

So its like half work in progress, half tutorial.

Mob Concept design. I actually drew the line work on paper one night in my hotel when I was on business this week, with no references, laying on my hotel bed. Then I brought to Clip art studio for digitally paint today.
(Going another trip next week...sigh... Hope to get my new Ipad Pro soon so I can be productive when on trip in evening )
