Was sorta hyped for an old school AC but I’m souring on this a bit. Might just wait for the buzz.

First AC game (except those 2d non real games) that I have zero hype for. It looks like a huge step backwards for the franchise in most every aspect imo

It is a step backwards, but in a good way. The last couple AC games were fun, but it lost its identity. AC became a big open world brawler and lost touch with the stealth elements.

Not everyone might remember AC1. It was all about stealth and living in the shadows, not fighting 50 guys.

I think it is good to mix up the formula.

In comparison the old games were pretty boring.

I think they needed to strike a better balance between old and new. Maybe smaller worlds with better stealth mechanics.

The complete reverse to the old ways is not a good thing, IMO.

Doesn't Extra come with Ubisoft+, or did that get dropped recently and I didn't notice?
It has never had Ubisoft+, the service doesn't exists on Playstation.

Sony did label the Ubisoft games on there as Ubisoft+Classics or something like that, but it isn't Ubisoft+ at all.

You have disappointed me greatly with this accurate info! I've been thinking I would be able to try Mirage on PS+ Extra all this last week. PS+ Extra is trash.

Sure, but going back playing 1 (and even 2 and 3), and it's a test of patience having to deal with bad stealth gameplay...tbh, very few games can make stealth work good... honestly having a hard time thinking about any game basing their gameplay around stealth and make it work (a few missions here and there doesn't count).
I think people look through rose tinted glasses on the old AC games and would prob change their minds if the play through them again (I did, I've played through 2-4 and the Ezio spin offs on switch).

I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see this AC being anything more than a clumsy step backwards.
I hope they make new AC games in the same style as Odyssey, Origins etc going forward.

... and Xbox and PC.

AC1 came out in 2007. I mean, of course it is horribly clunky and dated. This new game will have all the new, fluid gameplay, just the old style stealth stuff.

Odyssey and Valhalla have stealth, it isn't like a total change. Mirage was actually originally going to be a Valhalla DLC, so it isn't some total change. They've shown gameplay and it is very fluid and up to date with the modern games. Remember too, this is a $50 game, not $70. It isn't going to compete with the size and scale of those other games.

The Good

  • Creative adaptability is rewarded in a variety of social stealth-driven assassination missions
  • Interlocking investigations make you feel like a growing detective uncovering the truth one step at a time
  • The world design of the city of Baghdad is superb

The Bad

  • The game's storyline cannot stand on its own, requiring knowledge from previous games to be interesting
  • The supporting cast of characters isn't memorable or all that interesting
  • Freerunning is better than in the past few games, but small hiccups keep Mirage from matching the best the franchise has had to offer

They have the worst reviews lol. Wish I could be home today, I think the New Zealand trick works for this one

Interesting... by looking at the gameplay videos available I'd say it looks to be the opposite.
Yeah that jumped out to me too. I’m curious which games have the best parkour in their eyes

I'll wait for when it appears on Game Pass and then try it out.

I’ll be waiting on a sale for this. Too many other more interesting games out and Lords of the Fallen is next week.

I'm not sure it will ever come to GP. Ubisoft has their own GP like service now. This game is it day 1 too, apparently.
I’ll be curious when I get home if the New Zealand trick works when getting the game through a subscription service

You maybe right. If so, I guess I won't play it. No biggie on my part. It's not a franchise I'm interested anymore. Would try out if it became available on GP.

It doesn't on Ubisoft+. You can't even pre-download.

The trick works for games in GP, though.
