Chromatic Aberration is 'horrendous'.
- Small animation glitches like the older games.
- Last gen roots are more obvious than ever.

- Current gen machines have 2 modes. Quality & Performance.
- Quality: 2160p on PS5/SX with visual feature parity.
- Performance: DRS 4K to 1620p. Reduction is minor with only slightly softer image and some ghosting, but the easy recommended way to play.
- Series S: Quality DRS 1620p to 1440p at 30 FPS.
- Performance: 900 to 1080p at 60 FPS but with a softer resolve.
- Aggressive chromatic aberration that NXG wishes could be disabled, it is most obvious on the lower resolutions of Series S.

- Performance
- Adaptive V-Sync, Xbox consoles can tear while PS5 can likely but not observed in NXG's testing.
- Mostly 60 FPS in performance mode everywhere with PS5 having a delta of less than 2% improvement in real time cinematics
- Quality mode is practically locked on all consoles, cut-scenes also locked at 30.
- Since higher frame rate is all but 100% locked, this is the best AC game at launch (in terms of performance profiles)
- Series S Performance mode locks cut-scenes to 30, instead of 60, unlike the other 2. Some single frame drops and tearing with a commendable 60 FPS mode.

- Last Gen:
- PS4 Pro: Max 1440p w/ DRS. Lower texture, LoD, NPC count etc than newer gen consoles. Having a faster HDD or SSD on PS4 can fix some of the pop-in
- PS4: 1080p w/ DRS. Aligned with Pro with some more reductions in settings
- XBO: 900p w/ DRS lows to 630~p
- Xbox One X not covered in the video for some reason
- Last gen versions only have single 30 FPS Mode.
- Dips into the mid 20s, inconsistent 30 FPS during game play.
- PS4 runs better than XBO in general play.

I was planning on getting this over the weekend. I guess I'll just wait until it can be acquired for $20 or less.

Not getting it. Sounds like it's a step forward, but two steps back. Parkour looks wonky.

- Smaller world but crammed with detail.
- Character details, however, don't hold up.

- Current consoles all launch with 2 modes, Quality and High Frame Rate (30 vs 60)
- Randomized time of day, NPC distribution etc makes getting perfect like for like difficult.

Visuals:
- PS5/SX Quality is DRS 2160p with lowest tested seen 1944p.
- Series S: DRS with 1620p with lows of 1512p seen in testing.
- PS5/SX have visual settings parity.
- Series S has slight reductions. Geometry and tree quality in far distance lower than SX when seen from elevated locations (towers)
- In general runs it's barely noticeable.
- SS has lower shadow quality which drops even lower in Performance mode but, again, these are hardly noticeable in general plays.

- Performance mode: 1800p dynamic with 1440p low DRS seen on PS5/SX
- Series S: DRS 1080p with 864p lows.
- PS5/SX sees a little hit in geometry and tree LoD getting reduction over Quality mode.
- Other settings like texture quality, NPC count etc same between Performance and Quality

Performance:
- Quality mode: All 3 are 'water tight 30' without a single blip seen. No frame pacing issues either.
- In 60 FPS mode: 99% locked to 60fps but rapid camera motion from sky to city can cause tearing and single frame drop
- Both PS5/SX can suffer this, SX prone to tear more in this scenario.
- Fixed 60 FPS in all scenarios and above scenario is 'an outlier'.
- Series S more or less the same. 'Extremely playable at 60'.
- Series S locks cut-scenes to 30 FPS where PS5/SX run them at 60 in Performance mode. This is the biggest difference.

Conclusion:
- Sticking to 60 FPS on all 3 is recommended.

I put some time into this, and I think it’s pretty good. My biggest gripe is that it feels overly familiar since it’s gone back to the roots, so I doubt it’s going to wow anyone. The city is really well designed for the parkour aspects though.

My favorites in the series are Black Flag and Odyssey, and so far I don’t see this coming anywhere close to those, but it’s a fun game on its own.

This is suddenly not playable for me this morning…weird

Hmmm... Looking at the Ubisoft+ catalogue shows this game has been removed from the service. Very odd

It probably happened because I was honestly going to buy this today after cashing in MS Rewards points.

Sorry everyone.

Is it always online or something? That's odd for a single player only game.

Is this any good ? Compared to Valhalla and black flag since those are the ones I've played

It's an okay game if you're getting it 40% off I guess. I was playing through it on PS5 and got bored and haven't finished it yet. I didn't like Valhalla and got 15% through it before quitting. This is no match for Black Flag, though. Even though Mirage is 10 years newer, it seems like it's a much older game by comparison. Not in graphics, but everything else.

I finally got a few hours into this and it is... ok I guess? Something about it just feels like a step backwards. The movement and climbing just feels clunkier than I remember? I uninstalled Valhalla, so I can't compare.

The game favors stealth over combat, which I like, but it takes away a lot of options from the last couple games.

The city just seems annoying to move around. I feel like I have to use fast travel everywhere (I usually don't).

I do like how it gets back to some of the original game elements like hiding in crowds, but it doesn't feel like it is used in the game well (at least so far). Every mission seems to be "go to a base and sneak in and/or kill everyone".

I got it for $35 and I can enjoy it for what it is. The story seems uninteresting to me so far, but I'm just getting into it.

Pretty accurate.
The huge wall in the middle of Bagdad with very few places to get through is hugely annoying and it's one the many things they fixed when they made the jump to Origins and the games after.
I do like the stealth gameplay in this game though, it's fairly well thought out and there's very few eves-dropping missions to get annoyed over.

It's not what I want from an AC game in 2023 and I hope they don't make this a staple in the main games going forward, but it's still enjoyable for what it is.

I walked along that wall forever, looking for an opening until I figured it out. Sneak in with the merchants, then just unlock fast travel. Why bother having a wall when you can just fast travel past it anyway?

It just is odd from the past games, where there's always a way to sneak over/under anything.

This was originally just going to be DLC for Valhalla, so I don't think this is what they expect for games moving forward.
