So you're against all games with political based plots and subject matter, or are you just saying no one should be allowed to complain or be unhappy with a game if it has political based plots and subject matter they disagree with?

I don't care that the developers are Russian. It's not the developers fault that Putin is f***ing nuts. Many Russians aren't happy with him and they shouldn't suffer for something they can't do s*** about.

Thank God some guy from a company who makes terrible games hasn't blocked me on twitter.

The concern is this game is made by a Russian developer that moved / registered in Cyprus, the most common location used by Russian oligarchs to protect their assets from foreign seizure and sanctions, is said to be funded primarily by a Russian bank named in 30+ separate international sanction and trade restriction programs for funding the Russian military and war efforts. Any profit this game makes will undoubtedly be paid back to their sanctioned investor, and that investor will undoubtedly be required to use percentages of that money to continue funding the Russian military and war efforts.

I agree that the war is certainly not the fault o the developer, nor is the entire Russian state apparatus their fault, but the reality is that this is the way their system works. Blocking people on Twitter seems like a completely pointless "stand", but as someone whose career is in Trade Compliance, I certainly think people should be well aware of the reality that any money they spend on this game may indirectly end up supporting, the Russian state and their expenses. It's clearly up to the individual if that matters to them or not.

I think he's saying that everybody should be able to play whatever they want without judgment. If you want to personally boycott a game that is fine, but you shouldn't try to force your opinions and judgment on others.

Lol blaming a dictators decision to go to war on an entire population lol
Did the west yell about boycotting amerikan companies when you bomb and killed civilians in Iraq for a reason that was dead before you even invaded?
Lol privileged, pretentious f***s trying to virtue signaling while sitting in their comfy couch eating snacks and being angry about how people dare joke about minorities and women

I assumed so, but since this game's setting is overtly political, saying "keep politics out of games" in this instances could be interpreted as "boycott this game".

Ah, I would hope not. I'm not sure what people are expecting from this dev anyway. It isn't like speaking out against the government in Russia is a safe thing to do.

I'm just here to talk about games. Simple as that. If I wanted to talk about world politics I would join a non gaming forum for that. Or talk about it in the off topic.

The twitter guy is allowed to make a stand for what he believes in but blindly blocking everyone who does not agree with his views is kind of cringey.

But good to know about that background finance info, was not really planning on purchasing this anyways. Gamepass and PS plus are great to fit these but does this mean MS is indirectly funding the Russian military by paying for this game to be on GP? (And Sony as well if it ever comes to PS+)

Probably through taxation. But we are one world, so it's inevitable that some amount of financial exchange will happen with unruly sources, with any product, anywhere in the world.

In fact, the Russian military is operating under the power of Putin. It has been noted that the Russian military is mostly there, not by choice and doesn't agree with the war.

GamePass hurts sales, thereby ensuring they get as little money as possible, so MS is actually fighting the war.

Maybe they are happy with a lump sum knowing the potential backlash releasing in such controversial times. 🤔

Does that mean anyone spending money on the game is funding the military?

Been playing on pc. It runs really well. I think I got to the next major area. I saved and turned off the game before stepping outside a building to see. I’m saving up to regenerate health when I use a health item.
