Battlefield V

This game emphasizes squad play. If you get on a squad who lone wolf's it then get out and join another one.

Agree with this. I got on a great squad and it was fantastic. Then I got another squad that just scattered across, didn't listen to orders, didn't revive, heal or ressupply and it just wasn't as good.

Lonewolfinh in this game just doesn't seem to work. You need teammates to capture flags. You need teammates to successfully attack/defend flags. You need teammates to keep you in the fight. Why does nobody revive? Every soldier can do it, and doing so actually helps toward the overall goal of winning. It just crazy how few do it.

Yep, it seems squads are even more important in this game even more than the past (and it was always important). People have to stick together.

There's just too many places to hide on the map. If you go lone wolf there's just too many spots to check. There's just always going to be someone camping in the bushes.

People need to get in squads, leaders need to give orders and everyone else needs to follow.

People who whine endlessly about games they've never even played are what will kill gaming.
Nope.

What is and will kill gaming is the game companies themselves. Between mediocre games that obviously aren't good enough, greed, laziness, too much shareholder influence, and ever increasing out of touch gap is what is killing it.

Example: Destiny 2 - low content, no endgame, an obvious gap between what the fans wanted and what they gave. 2 grossely over priced DLCs that fixed none of the problems. Then comes Forsaken: An expansion that added some good things but in the s***tiest way possible. Lacks new content. Still doesn't have a prper endgame. Way too much time gating.

Activisions answer to D2 not meeting expectations...to monotize the game further. Lolz. Even though the monotization was meant to be used to create new conten thoughout the year. Which they have never done. Everything has just been reused content.

And now, the year 2 DLCs seem to be just timegated stuff over the course of a season.LMAO.

I got on a squad last night that communicated with each other and we dominated. We had two assaults, one support, and 1 medic. We took top squad 3 of the 4 matches. It was some of the most fun I've had in a Battlefield game in a long time.

Yeah. Communication will take a squad to the next level. Certainly not necessary to be an effective squad, though.

Isnt that the same as every other BF game though? Good squads work best, lone wolfing is a pile of crap.

Prob older than you my friend.

Okay... so, if I see a rape but it isn't me being raped, I should shut up and move on?
Also, lowdru2k , you my wingman no?

You do know you’re wrong about SW BF2 right? Game was fine after launch I saw none of the s*** people were complaining about across the Internet. No wonder the game did not sale well, if people actually played the game they would have seen it was a good MP game.

Yes, but it seems even more pronounced in this game. The lack of a spotting system (not that I'm complaining) really changes things up. In past games, you'd have a general idea of where you could go to. Maybe you run into some random person camping in the past. Now though, there can be an entire squad camping behind a stone fence. You'll never see them and they'll open up on you and you are dead. (I'm not complaining about the tactic obviously).

Anyone can now revive too which is huge. Medics just do it better and faster. The game is so much better, but teamwork is just absolutely vital now.

So spotting is gone, huh? Interesting. What about the placements that can be built? How are they?

I noticed on the beta that you can spot with a little icon so your teammates will look in that direction.

Well, not gone. Like lowdru2k said, you can still mark an area on the map. You can't just aim across the horizon and mash the tag button though like in past games. In past games, you'd have enough red marks to tell where most of the action was. Now though you really have to check every inch of the map, so having a squad there makes it much easier. The time to kill is a lot better from BF1 too so someone gets you in the open and you are going to die most likely. No more janky aim like in BF1. No more center torso shots doing 18/100 damage (man I hated that).

I haven't messed with fortifications much, but cover is of course huge. There's a good cover peek system and setting up a good firing position works great, as you'd expect. The fortifications seem to be only in certain areas, so I'm still learning where they are. I don't *think* you can just fortify anywhere.

It is tons of fun, but there's a lot to learn. You have to play well and smart. Someone expecting to just run in solo and use their twitch skills is going to do very badly. It is really fast paced, but still tactical. Good cover and good firing positions really matter. Still though the action moves fast and it isn't like BF1.

All sounds good to me.

It is. BF is back for sure. The only thing is if you end up in a squad with all "XxXEliteSniper123XxX" types, you are in for a frustrating game until you can find a better squad. Even worse than in past games.

I usually join them with my crappy sniper skills and get them killed quickly. :hehe:

Not really. in previous games squading was there but not necessary. In this game it feels like squading up is a necessity.

Really? I always found it pretty much a 'must have' to be a good squad. That said it was you and me carrying most of the squads we ended up with in BF1.

It is hard to describe. The game is just a meat grinder. You die so many ways. In past games, squads were important, but you could get away from them at times and maybe just pick up with other people or even scout around a little bit. You could spawn on a flag somewhere and wait for your team to jump in or find you. You could even maybe flank around a building the opposite way from your team and catch the other team. Now though, going off alone seems to just hand a ticket to the other team.

Everything is so much better with the revive system and the resupply thing, but it requires coordination. People are even complaining about tanks being underpowered. Even tanks need infantry support. No more rolling up on a flag in a tank and dominating.

It is tons of fun, but can be frustrating. My first game I think I was 30-30 for just a short conquest round. Anytime I got away from my squad I got dead.

True, but consumers have to tell them they don't want it by not buying their crap. Buying is letting them know that what they've done is acceptable enough for purchase. They can continue the s*** practices and still make money. Of course, to do that you have to be educated beforehand, and good luck with that.

I really hope developers are paying attention to the overwhelming reception of Red Dead 2. There are a lot of lessons there...

Really.

In all previous BF games you could lonewolf and massively contribute to your team and the win. Seems to be far harder to do that in BF5.
