Guns...God I hope not. Where did you get that from anyway ?
The character has a shotgun in one of those pics. By the way, This wouldn't be the first game with guns by From Software. Shadow Tower is an under rated classic.

The games aren't niche. They've sold well, even well enough that Square-Enix took notice and said they would put Dark Souls elements into their latest game, "Lightning Returns".I seriously doubt this is exclusive to PS4. They have built up a solid fanbase now across 3 platforms(Playstation, xbox, and PC) and with a game as niche as this, it makes no sense to 1: annoy your fanbases, and 2: bypass the millions of consumers on the other platforms. If it was New IP, then maybe, but those pics are clearly a Dark souls/demon souls.

Seen a couple places saying he has a Shotgun.
Great...but can somebody show where this supposed shotgun is ? please do not tell me people are taking that dark shadowy melee weapon(2nd pic) as a shotgun.
Well your other post was saying From Software can't afford go PS4 exclusive and lose out on sales with as niche as it is. That's definitely referring to niche as meaning a lack of sales or popularity. But ignoring that, I agree Dark Souls has a unique and popular gameplay formula developers are now hoping to integrate into their own games to bank on.I am using niche more in the way of its more specialized and unique game-play and ethos. Although having said that, you do touch a good point. Many devs are now starting to see Dark/demon Souls as something to be emulated.

It definitely would suck for them and for us if they went exclusive with this game. Especially since we still need our master race 60fps version of the game.As a one system game, yes, the sales would be far lower than they're currently for DS 1 & 2, and remember they were on 2 platforms with 70-80 million consumer base. Now imagine the sales hit on a one platform and maybe 20 million consumer base. I think it would be considered niche in sales.
Can't wait for E3. This game will move PS4s, if it doesn't come to PC. I could see many PC gamers buying a PS4 just for this game. If I hadn't own a PS4, I know I would.

Now bare in mind I was a big fan of Dark Souls, I managed to convince all of my friends to buy it and it was one of the few PS3 games that I actually liked last gen.
But I'm a little perplexed by all the internet hype this game seems to be garnering, especially considering Demons Souls didn't exactly light up the charts at all. Is there some giant legion of Demons Souls fans who just never quite got around to buying it or something? Seeing the gaf thread is just weird, it's like an c4 explosion, I don't get it.
Demon souls was the first. Sure, it didn't light up the charts, but it received a lot of praise from gamers. Then From software went multiplatform with what is essentially the same game just under a slightly different name and with tweaks and changes a sequel tends to get, and that did very well in the charts-around 2.5 million, and again was well praised by gamers. Then DS2 came along, has sold roughly the same already ( only been out a few months) and once again getting lots of praise by gamers.
A lot has happened between the first game and this supposedly PS4 exclusive, so using the first to judge the second is unfair, IMO.
I meant to type demons souls actually.
I skipped Dark Souls and went straight to Dark Souls II. My post might make a bit more sense with that in mind.
I'm definitely buying the game when I eventually get a PS4, I just thought it was weird that it was getting hyped so hard.
Makes no difference to be honest. My point - a lot has happened since the first to this- still stands. I think the fact that Souls fans are pretty hardcore is a big bonus for Sony & From software if this does turn out to be exclusive. I would never buy a console just for one game, but Demon souls 2 would very likely be the extremely rare exception.
Dat next gen fog gate!!!
This is pretty much how I feel about it too. It would be the game that finally compels me to buy a PS4, but it wouldn't be the sole reason.I won't be buying the PS4 solely for this game (again, should this end up being Demon's Souls 2). I'll be buying it for the Uncharteds and TLoU's.
It's just that this game is the one I HAVE to play that will get me to buy the console so I can enjoy those other (IMO lesser) games.
EpicNameBro on youtube does good analysis of the story and how it all comes together...he even has ideas of how a modern setting with Beast Souls can connect to the other souls games. Is Dark Souls 2 a direct sequel to the first, or can I just skip 1 and still know what's going on in 2?
