Can I max out 1080p 60fps for $500 or under?

Still weighing the options if I should get a PS4 for Street Fighter 5 or a PC. PC will be hooked up to my TV exclusively. Would I be able to get maxed 1080p settings in say, Batman Arkham Knight for $500 or so? Don't want to spend much more than that.

I don't think you can if you are building a brand new computer. Just to get the bare minimum of parts and operating system software for a computer excluding the GPU runs about $400 if I remember correctly.

Absolutely not.

You would need at least a GTX 970 for 1080p 60fps at max settings on Batman AK which is about 300-320 on it's own. You might as well get a PS4.

So $400-$500 + $300-$400.

I guess being l33t is out of my budget!

So these are the specs for SW:BF. The recommended specs would cost me about $800 to put together? What would I be looking at in real-time with the recommended specs compared to the screencap below since it's a 1080p cap?

EA has revealed the PC system requirements for Star Wars: Battlefront. Is yours up to scratch?

The specs detailed on the Origin page cover both the minimum and recommended system requirements. You can take a look at them below.

Ehhh, it would be really hard to get that in an 800 dollar budget unless you go second hand, especially since you have nothing....

That picture is of a pre rendered cut scene, you won't see anything like that during gameplay. No one will.

My ideas of masterrace are too high? :/

Do these prices you are talking about include a monitor?

Well Arkham Knight on PC is still a mess somewhat. You need entirely too much GPU power to run it at max setting considering the game isn't the most beautiful thing.
As for Street Fighter I would say a GTX 960 and up will get you maxed settings @ 1080p in that game.

As for Star Wars. The system requirements would at least require a gtx 970 card (as it says) or AMD equvalient. That is about ~ $320 USD right there.
Though if you have an old computer monitor and keyboard you cut some costs there.
A great misunderstanding about PC gaming is that you need to max everything to compete with consoles and that is simply not true. For instance a gtx 960 paired with a hyperthreaded i3 will not max out the Witcher 3, but it will run it better than the PS4 version due to the fact that the PS4 version of the game isn't running on high settings to begin with.

idk if it's really you need all that GPU power to run Batman, it's the VRAM requirements which are absolutely absurd, but honestly a lot of games are starting to recommend 4GB of VRAM.....damn next gen consoles.

Will be hooked up to TV only as it will just be for gaming.

Anybody have some delicious screens of maxed out PC games?

True. I know at 1080p maxed out with all the gameworks garbage on with my 980ti I use about 4325mb of VRAM. Dumb.
Also I just looked at the Star Wars Battlefront requirements again.
Da fuq?
Why does the game require 16 gigs of system ram?? EA trolling?

I guess we will find out...

The biggest problem I had with my PC is my preference to play everything with a controller. If you're planning on playing any 3rd person or 1st person multiplayer shooters online (with your PC), with a controller, prepare to get curb stomped on the regular.

I have had no problems destroying people using a keyboard with me using a controller when using it on PC.

Keep in mind that less than max will still, more often than not, yield better visuals and performance than console. In other words, you need not always look to totally max a game's settings.

For example, I play my games at 2560x1440, but I don't "ultra" shadows and some other settings...and still manage well over 60 fps in most games, and about 60 fps in the more demanding games.....and I only have a 770.

Actually you're right. I kind of misspoke.

I got crazy good at Splinter Cell Blacklist multiplayer, and then when the player base starting tailing off, you would start to run into the same players/teams after a while. So at one point there were around 20 - 30 of the highest level players on the leader boards that you'd get to know.

It would bug the s*** out of me when I'd play some of these guys, with a competent teammate, and see behavior that could only be done with a keyboard and mouse, and I'd lose. It's one thing to be outsmarted tactically. It's a whole other feeling when players could do 180's in .02 seconds while I'm over here holding left on the right thumbstick for what feels like forever.

You're definitely at a disadvantage with a controller but unless you're playing somewhat competitively, I suppose it would matter too much.

"Destroying" mouse users, when using a controller....lol.

That really all depends on the game. Some games naturally are made for controller in mind, therefor, using a keyboard for movement could actually turn out to be a hindrance.

First person shooters on the other hand...you can hold your own against mediocre mouse users, but more often than not, you will not "destroy" mouse users.

Only thing I would do is invest in an SSD to install your OS on.

Don't forget that Nvidia is not the only company that makes Graphic Cards.

A little company called AMD does exist. :p

Although you likely won't find a whole lot of fans of them on these boards, they're another alternative if you're looking for a budget Gaming PC. As long as you have ALOT of patience (Giving them time to fix problems they tend to have), it's a nice cheap alternative that can get you the 1080p/60FPS experience for a reasonable cost.

How about this? Will it be enough to support Oculus nicely as well as my 1080/60 want?

Check Slickdeals for PC part deals. Do you have a microcenter around you? They always have mobo/combo deals. I recently build a gaming rig for my roommate. Pretty much the same stuffs above but with 8GB DDR3, 120GB SDD, and 290x. I freaking OC that mofo to 4.5 Ghz. It's running a solid 35c temp. All for less than $850.

I'm pretty sure he said he doesn't want to build a machine.
