Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin screenshots and new info

Well, the weapons degrade faster at 60fps. That explains why pc gamers were complaining about weapons breaking and consolers were wondering why.

Also, as I mentioned in my lengthy complaint one or two pages back, it depends on how long the weapon "touches" an enemy. A two-handed power attack with a great club will kill the weapon in a few hits. It is also affected by friendly phantoms in co-op. I learned to love the rings that increased weapon durability.

Oh, and weapons repair themselves at bonfires automatically....if you make it that far without it breaking.

(note that I have only played the original pc version of Dark Souls II)

Is there a way to see what the current state of my weapon is?

I have a love/hate thing with this game, but hey...don't we all? Lol. I killed the giant boss pretty easily, but the knight guy is definitely giving me a hard time. I try to dodge his attacks as much as i can but i make one mistake, he attacks 3 times....dead. :(

It's on your weapon Stat screen. Far bottom right. I forget was button it is, but pressing it opens up explanations for each stat.

There's a small red bar underneath the image of your weapon in the HUD. The bar depletes as your weapon deteriorates.

It looks like your first question has been answered, but to your second question, you mean the Pursuer? He is tricky. If you want to fight him legit, you will probably have to come back later. If you want to be cheap, watch speedruns and see how you can parry him and shoot him with the ballistas.

Well actually i had a good chance against him yesterday with my Fire Longsword upgraded a few times. But in terms of how many hits i can take....not a lot, haha. I am a knight and i assume it's best to upgrade Endurance, Strength and Vigor?

I'd summon a phantom for the pursuer . he's very tricky for the early game.

Well, it depends on your playstyle. If you want heavy armor, you also need vitality. You don't want to be slow in this game.

Adaptability can help you move and perform actions faster, so it is useful as well since a shield won't always work for bosses. Dodging is sometimes better than blocking.

Strength is useful for using weapons that require strength or for weapons that scale well with strength, but I don't think your fire longsword does. Blunt weapons in this game are actually pretty good for many fights. A lot of people have made it pretty far with just a mace since some enemies and bosses are weak to that kind of damage.

If taking hits is a problem then look into upgrading vigor. I'd say 20 is good for most of the game.

Heavy armor is only worth it if it doesn't slow you down much. You need to be able to maneuver around either walking or rolling at a decent pace.

All of my stats are being put into strength, dexterity, and my equipment load. So I'm basically a ninja with a hugh axe.

These new enemy placements are tripping me out. But I'm not doing bad. My worst was in No Man's Wharf because I was too c*** and wanted to rush through it.

Trying my friend's copy out and I can't get the hang out it at all. Bloodborne was amazing but this feels unsatisfying and slow.

Co-op battled the smelter demon for about 2 hours last night. Went from level 90 to 130. The iron keep is just fantastic for getting great amounts of souls. Plus lots of people wanting help with that boss as well.

Its definitely slower but after that I'd disagree completely. Dark souls is equally if not more satisfying a game to play.

Just like when this game released before

f*** the f***ing bell f***ers

What? He's gone on my game.

He should be there. You pay him the souls and he lowers the ladder down so you can get the items, just like in the 360 version. Then you exhaust the dialogue and he moves to Majula. Is there maybe some pre condition to him appearing there?

Not that I know of. I burned the windmill, and defeated Mytha. But I beat her before I went to where Gilligan is supposed to be. I wonder if that might be the case.

Well whatever. I was able to jump down to the ledge he lowers his ladder to and grab the items. I'll go to Majula and see if he's there.

I think that's it. You need to talk to him before beating the Queen. She was the reason he was hiding in the ledge from what I remember. Hopefully he's back in Majula cos it would be annoying if he was gone.

Found him in Majula. Thank Christ.

And Holy s*** the Iron Keep is a bitch and I haven't even entered the building yet. Twice I got invaded by NPC Phantoms. Fencer Sharron was a hassle but I took her down. But then Armorer Dennis invaded right after and HE was a complete a******. He had a sword that flayed me alive multiple times AND he had a s*** list of spells he engorged me with. After dying about ten times I finally took him down but I swear he was tougher than every boss so far.

Lol

Yeah dude armourer Denis was the hardest fight for me by miles so far. I couldn't beat him by myself. I have a sorcerer and he's very resistant to magic. Hitting him with the fire long sword was only marginally better. Ended up summoning some phantoms and this one guy comes along with an ultra great sword and nearly kills him in one hit.
Two hours I'd been trying to beat him before that.

Yeah f*** that guy.

But I'm not looking forward to the smelter demon. He gave me the most trouble out of all the bosses. I really just want to get to the DLC areas.

I found the smelter demon easy enough. I summoned that npc phantom chick and he sent his time chasing her while I smashed him with spells. Went to co op beat him 7 or 8 after that. This is such a great area for Souls farming. I went from 90 to 130 in about two hours

I eventually famed him for souls and sunlight medals.

as much as I love this game, it starting to become an exercise in futility. It's crashed twice in the past 2 hours. Overall, I'd say it's crashed about 12 times in the 30 or so hours I've put into it thus far. And to top it all off, it always happens and the most inopportune times imaginable.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Yeah. It doesn't like stand by. When I finish playing I quit the game entirely.

f***ing s***. I got all excited to play the first DLC Crown of the Iron King, but I'm not excited anymore now that Ive gotten there. I'm getting my ass kicked. This is end game content. Nothing for my whimpy level 90 guy.

After about 20 deaths in the same area, I said f*** it and continued with the main story, which brought me to the dreaded Shaded Woods. I hated this area before and I hate it even more now. The whole area, not just the fog area, is full of those pesky ghosts in this version.

I lost motivation to keep playing because the next few areas past Shaded Woods just aren't fun at all. I'd love to skip The Black Gulch, The Gutter, The Doors of Pharros, and Brightstone Cove and just go straight to Drangleic Castle.
