A 7 is a basically a 2/5 by today's review standards I'm afraid. An awful game is a 5/10 and that's pretty rare. You'd think a 5/10 would be mediocre, but it's pretty much terrible according to most reviewers.I love how a 70’s scoring game now sucks
Yeah it doesn't quite have that Sony first party polish that the other big AAA games they've released over the last few years do. I can understand only because Sony Bend is a much smaller studio than the ones that have put out those other games but it wouldn't have hurt them to delay it a couple of more months to polish things up a bit and smooth out the rough edges. The more I play it the more I'm enjoying myself, I'm not sucked in completely like I was for God of War, Horizon or Spider-Man but I'm still having a good time with it and I feel it was worth the purchase.
The game has an 80 on the Metacritic user score for what that's worth. I've seen some reviews mention the gender and ethnicity of the protagonist and that is a huge disqualifier for me personally, they should judge what they have been given and not by what kind of political statement they wish it had made.
Is it my left thumb stick that is broke or is the game control for walking forward wonky? I have to hold my left trigger in if I want to walk forward other wise my character just does really nothing. But walking any other direction including backward I only need to use the stick. This messes with trying to walk and aim at the same time.
72 is roughly an average score for a videogame.

Except when your a first party Sony AAA game you expect more than just average.
I guess the best thing for me to do is test the controller in another game and see if I have the same issue when moving the left stick forward.
Yeah, it's a game about biker subculture. It's bound to rub SJW types the wrong way. We already know IGN wasn't happy with "another gruff white male protagonist." The GamesRadar and Gamespot reviewers, as well as others (see link below) take issue with Sarah''s sexual reference during a wedding ceremony ("I hope you ride me as much as you ride your bike"). Admittedly, that's kind of a cringey line, but videogames have never been known for good writing, and what they all missed is that it's a reference to something said in Sons of Anarchy and apparently in biker culture. Of course that was outside their little bubble frame of reference. They just saw it as stupid and offensive.
The Gamespot reviewer also highlighted and criticized a screenshot where Deacon is looking at Kate's ass as she bends over. Oh noes, male bikers have sexual attraction to female body parts. She also complained about all the freakers being white. I guess Days Gone 2 needs a more ethnically diverse cast of freakers, so it'll get higher review scores.

Not that I'm saying the game scored below expectations because it didn't conform to the identitarian agenda of some gaming journalists. Obviously, the game has a number of genuine, significant problems. But I also think a game like this will naturally suffer in the reviews, because it will rub some gaming journalists the wrong way.

I am truly tired of all the sexist and racist bulls*** now. It makes me sick seeing it forced in TV commercials and movies today.
The freakers are all white? some of them are so mutated I don't know how she can tell lol, there are black characters in the game though but I guess she overlooked that. It's like they tried to make the game set in Oregon which is 85% white somewhat accurate lol.
I was surprised the game was made in Oregon. When I think of Oregon, I think of very a left-leaning, liberal 'progressive' culture. I'm thinking of Portland, though, because that's where my family lived. Bend is very different culturally, more rural and conservative or at least moderate. That's my perception anyway.
I know people love to make ridiculous excuses when a game gets less than stellar reviews but blaming SJWs is definitely a new one.

Days Gone is too ambitious for current gen. It's beyond what Pro can handle. When I first saw Days Gone I wondered if it could run on PS4. It's definitely a next gen game on current gen hardware. The only way you can polish Days Gone dumb it down.
People say X1 line up is trash because they they don't have many options and they games do have score 60's/70's at Meta. If low scoring games were consistent on Playstation they would get the same treatment..

That is what I said its the Pro's fault not the engine.
Xbox games do get game the same treatment and have been ripped by me and many others.
I call it down the middle and point out when trash stinks.
Looking back this gen... I think overall that even though XB games been getting much worse reviews they are as good if not better overall than PS IMO
This is due to value from longer support from MS and more replayabilty because of MP.
I beat a PS game(have a hellava time) and then it is never played again.(except Bloodborne)

Yeah, this was a big stretch for them. They weren't quite able to get there (to the level of other veteran first-party studios, I mean), but maybe it was unrealistic to expect that. It sounds like a decent first effort nonetheless. I'll have to pick it up eventually, when I'm in the mood for it.
From what I've read, it's similar to Washington where everything west of the Cascades is more liberal while the east is conservative, with a lot of far-right racist s***. Like two completely different worlds.

I have played a couple of hours and some of the 5 and 6 scores are truly baffling. 7 is fair if you don't like the story and characters but the open world, combat and mechanics are great. I am surprised how detailed and big the world is tbh. I think it will be a slow burn as it does not pull you in like God of War or Horizon did but once you get a few upgrades, better weapons and more comfortable with the mechanics you want to go out exploring.
X1 games score low often. That's why you see hate toward games like Sea of Thieves. People get tired of "okay" games. On PS4 it's not the case.
The X1 is no where close to Playstion in quality or quality. THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH GAMES. And yeah you were defending C3 in the sells topic.
The hardware limitations are what held it back the most. Even in theory Days Gone would struggle on Ps4. I'm baffled as to why they chose current gen for this game

That's slowly becoming my favorite screenshot, too. 
I'm impressed at how different the user reviews/impressions seem from the overall average critic score. I suppose there have been other cases where user reviews have been a lot better than metacritic average, but I can't remember any off the top of my head (although I don't pay a lot of attention to that sort of thing, so who knows). I'm glad gamers are pushing back a little and saying how much they're enjoying it. I'm also glad the game seems to be selling well. I hope that bolsters Sony Bend's morale. It must be tough to be the little brother of veteran AAA studios like Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Guerilla, and Insomniac, hoping to measure up to those standards.
