Is it decently possible to do a mix of sword and magic?
Sure seems like it. Theres some good weapons that scale with magic I read.
I dunno about using both faith and magic though that may be too thin?

Went Royalty starter, that spell arrow kicks ASS. I kinda want to do some melee also, I assume I need a weapon whose damage scales with my Magic rating then?
Got Phalanx and now the game is opening up. Other worlds seem like a big difficulty spike, I’m not doing nearly as much damage.
If I’m a magic user is it worth investing in Faith to cast miracles or is that spreading too thin?
I didn't do much with faith until later in the game, I can't remember using miracles all that much but it has been a while now.Got Phalanx and now the game is opening up. Other worlds seem like a big difficulty spike, I’m not doing nearly as much damage.

Is there a good order to play this in? I was using the IGN path which is like 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 3-1 etc. I'm currently on 3-1 which I remember on the original, but don't remember if I ever played beyond that. I did kill the armored spider in 2-1 which I don't know if I did before either. I did end up looking at a guide after dying a couple times, only to realize I'm an idiot and forgot I had the steel shield lol. I was just using the wooden as I was trying to stay as light as possible and obviously wasn't upgraded much when I found the steel shield. Once I used that shield it was a damn cake walk to tank hits then run from the fire. First time that s*** happened I yelled.
I think IGN is like that for the most part. I know for 1-3 you have to do something to get it unlocked, like kill an archdemon or something. Not sure where to find one but otherwise yea I'll probably do similar to what you did.I did 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1, then 1-2, 2-2 etc.
Worked out well for me
I was thinking about getting the game. But I would need for it to unlock everything for me after dying 4,127,872,199 times during the intro.I think IGN is like that for the most part. I'm not really a Souls veteran. Only tried original Demon's Souls for sub 10 hours, loved Bloodborne but never beat it, and then sort of Souls-like game Mortal Shell I loved and beat. I think with this game its all about taking it slow, learning the enemy attacks, etc. The bosses are a different story but with how old this game is there is no shortage of tips on how to beat it.I was thinking about getting the game. If you haven't tried Mortal Shell that one might be a better intro? That game has better defense options I think, plus it's a fairly shorter game.

According to who? I beat the 4 bosses of Mortal Shell on my first try. I've never played a Dark Souls so can't comment, but it's easier than Demon's or Bloodborne,"Is Mortal Shell harder than Dark Souls?
Mortal Shell is what I would probably categorise as ridiculously hard, so if that's what you are looking for — you might just have found it. It's certainly harder than Dark Souls III, although arguably that is the easiest in the series to date (whilst still being much harder than most games released these days)."
Yeah....no thanks. I mean I know I suck at hard games, but this will make me want to off myself.
Some random dude I just found on GoogleAccording to who?
Demon's souls remake was my first real Souls game. I tried Bloodborne but only for like an hr or two, couldn't get past the 30 fps.
I beat the Remake with no real issues. If all else fails, be a magic user and abuse it

I will give it a whirl!
Well s***, if you can beat it, anyone can beat it!
Fake newsBruh, I beat Returnal on my second run. Get on my level.
Mortal Shell lacks a "soul"."Is Mortal Shell harder than Dark Souls?
