Destiny beta coming to Xbox One & Xbox 360 in late July

Timed exclusive betas and timed DLC are the worst wastes of money I've ever heard of. I doubt anybody has ever bought an Xbox just because the COD DLC comes out a month early.

But, I'd much rather Microsoft/Sony waste their money on something as pointless as that, then having a whole game exclusive and actually missing out on something.

MS has CoD, Sony has Destiny. One thing's for sure, Activision sure knows how to hype games and make cash. I think they are the only game maker (excluding obscure MMO/smartphone companies) that are consistent huge profit makers. They always seem to have have a few key hits that rake in the cash. Blizzard, the whole Guitar Hero phase, CoD, Tony Hawk years back, now Destiny is going to be one of them.

Love em or hate em, they do make some quality games. Problem is once they hit pay dirt they milk it to the last molecule of profit is squeezed out of the franchise. Then they'll move onto another one.

Its far longer than a month earlier. If Amazon store is accurate, it will be at least til Fall 2015. That's pretty big if you ask me.

I think for me it will depend on how much content is in the base game. They get 1 strike, 1 MP map and some gear.

If there's a decent number of strikes and MP maps in the base game I probably won't care. If there's 5-6 MP maps then I'll complain.

Destiny looks like there'll be dozens of hours of gameplay, hopefully I won't even notice what I'm missing.
 
Some people care, some don't.

The argument is, you are paying the same money. On one version you get some extra stuff, on another, just the standard version. Which one will you get (that is if you have a choice of course, or making a choice)?

When you are a comparable product with the competition, you need any extra edges to win gamers to buy your version of the game, or console.
 
I must be in minor group but I'm gonna bite the bullet and skip the Beta version and wait for the full game to come out. Just wanting to save all of the "fun" for that game. :D
 
I don't like this..between the many discrepancies in how they treat each platform, they've crafted an environment that isn't comfortable to be in. Even if I liked the game, all this bull around content, the alpha, and the separate beta dates (and I'm sure there's gonna be more) it's just not something I'd like to be a part of.

maybe I'm overdoing it with my idealistic larger picture mentality. But in the end, it's still activision, and I will not support that.

The content I could see having a problem with even those it is hardly uncommon but the PS4 getting the beta a few days early? Why is that a big deal?

Big deal for me because I really, really want to play this game and it sucks that they got the Alpha, no X1 Alpha, and now the beta for X1 is delayed. I know it's business, but it still sucks. :)

More of a principle thing than anything else. I'm hardly interested in the game (so why is he talking about it) so it's nothing more than that.

Well well saying you won't support it doesn't really mean much if you aren't even interested in the game.
 
I'm aware, there's a whole lotta moot in my argument.

But against my better judgement, I keep talking.
 
It's destiny to have Destiny arrive on the Xbox One in July. The Summer of greatness begins.

Me to. had about 4 friends do it as well this morning. I wonder how long before Amazon start to notice the trend? I suppose there really isn't much they can do about it anyway.
