So what is destiny exactly? I get this whole... Co-op space zombie shooter vibe from it.

VVVVVVVV

Destiny is an action game from the creators of Halo, set in a mysterious future. Create a unique and powerful character, customize the way you look and fight, and explore what remains of our solar system.

Destiny features a compelling storyline, competitive multiplayer, cooperative gameplay choices, wide open public combat destinations, and third-person community spaces where you can repair and rearm before going out on your next adventure.

A friend of mine and I are planning to play together a lot on PS4 with this amazing game. I, can, not, wait.

Do I post in the thread created by blue or the news feed fake thread?

You can't get the front page just to be a regular thread? Always going to have this duplicate stuff?

You can comment here or there. I think I may start just creating the threads in a forum and promoting them rather than a separate news forum.

Would be nice if it has moon floating effect due to smaller gravity force.

I know a lot of people are comparing this game to Halo, but the more I see it, the more I think Mass Effect actually. Especially this screenshot:

Mass Effect vibe is what I get too but boy is this game beautiful to look at!

I just got this email, yesterday

no, it says
Be one of the first to blaze a trail through the wild frontiers of Destiny. Pre-order and receive access to the upcoming beta, available in early 2014.

Ah didn't realize I could preorder and get in the beta.

360 version preordered, I hope it's not a gimped version!

Pretty good-looking game for sure. And I concur with others here. I get that Mass Effect vibe too.

Also, shooters are just becoming more and more boring lately. I think it has to do with the weapons. These developers need to spice of the gameplay a little instead of just focusing on run-n-gun tactics.

This NEEDS to come to PC (last I heard it's not). I mean I will get a PS4 to play this if it turns out half as good as it looks/sounds, but I'd much rather play on PC.

I get a Borderlands vibe.

Kind of. I mean, it's like Borderlands (open-world FPS, randomized loot) had a baby with Halo (space-travel, aliens).

But I'm concerned about the game becoming too much of a time-sink. They've said that they want this story to be told over a ten-year period, with new games every other year, and expansions in the off years (from the GameInformer article, I believe). That's A LOT of game. And I don't quite know if it's a commitment I'm willing to make. I don't want to have to wait a decade for a conclusion. But it's an ambitious project with a compelling story, to be sure.

The story is really at the top of the list for what I care about in games. I don't see games too differently than I see movies...

This. The Bioshock titles are great, because they have amazing stories with interesting characters. The gameplay is fun but not nearly as tight as many other FPS on the market, so it falls back on story. Then there's the Fallout/TES titles that are great RPGs but what drives most people to play them repeatedly is the story and character interaction.

lol "most people."

The most played games in the world by far, are not even story driven.

Games that are all story with light gameplay generally don't sell well either.

Logical conclusion: games that offer both are probably played more for the gameplay than the story.

But keep thinking that your reason for playing games is somehow what the majority play games for. Even though that makes little to nonsense ;)

No it's not, it's gameplay.
A good story is just a bonus.

Not even my opinion, it's just true :tounge:

I don't know, I think it depends on the game. If it's like COD then yes the gameeplay needs to be spot on or it's not going to be any good. But if we're talking about a game like Fallout or and Elder Scrolls game, I can suck it up if some of the gameplay isn't up to par as long as the story keeps me wanting more.

It's funny, most of the discussion I see concerning Fallout/TES revolves around the stories both main and side quest.

But yeah, they're mostly played for the gameplay.

lol indeed.
