DF: NFS Rivals Verdict PC > PS4 > Xbox One

Maybe if there was some sexy grunting from female athletes, I'd find it more interesting, but instead I'm stuck watching McMasters vs. Valliance...

That'd be quite the chess match: "Check, mate."

Yep... Because pointing it out does nothing productive. It derails interesting threads. It's there, it's always been there, and while you tend to focus on the Xbox fans who are acting hypocritical, you're own bias is preventing you from pointing out the OBVIOUS hypocrisy from your own kind... And that's what makes your quest to point out hypocrites even more meaningless, and frankly just distracting.

And this doesn't help. As long as it's "your kind" vs. "our kind" then you're not judging the person or argument based on individual merit but by the flag they're waving.

You're probably right, I should have worded that better - but the point I don't want missed is that there are zealots/fanboys on both sides, hypocrites on both sides, and bottom line - ALL of us have some bias or another... And trying to call out others feels an awful lot like pointing out the speck in your neighbors eye, rather than dealing with the log in your own...

That's the point. Calling others out for their hypocrisy does little but derail a thread, because if it's true, so what? And if it's false, then it's even worse... But in both cases, there's nothing of value or importance in doing so.

I don't care much for argumentum ad hominum. Don't attack the people in a futile attempt to discredit their argument or opinion... attack the argument on its merits alone.

For example, MW has always come across as very Sony skewed to me, but if he makes a claim about a feature being better on PS4, that doesn't by default make his claim or opinion less truthful... And whether or not someone has shown hypocritical tendencies - so what? Does that (by default) discredit them? No way! Not at all.

Judge each statement and post on its own merits, not on who it comes from.

Not everyone is biased Flynn. Repeating it over and over again doesn't make it true.

That I actually disagree with. We all do have our internal biases - the question is whether we acknowledge them and strive for honest and truthful discussion or whether we just seek to broadcast our bias as if it were truth. For the most part, most posters here fall into the former category - they'll of course have what they say tinted by their preference but it's not Puppet/Neo stuff where the you'll get people arguing that the sky is green or magenta based on calling all non-believers wrong and therefore asserting they're right.

I'd say the vast majority are, but there are people who aren't biased. But anyone who is even slightly biased would want to believe that everyone is.

It's a gaming console.. I find having bias towards a gaming console to be absolutely laughable. Give me something that fits my tastes and I will like it more.. that isn't bias, which is prejudiced, it's post-judgement.

Postjudiced.

And if a company has "done you wrong" before, or created products you don't like before.. so you are skeptical you will like their future projects.. that's not bias either. Bias is unfair prejudice, not guessing something might not fit your tastes based on experience.

I guess I just don't see the problem... If people want to call the sky magenta, that's fine - we can easily prove that false ... But the guy who argues the sky is magenta may have a valid argument when he suggests that PS4's fidelity of cross platform games is higher than that of X1's... So we easily show one argument to be false, and the other to be valid/true.

Where's the problem?

Does it matter "who"? These types of comparison threads were always posted over at TXB and were accepted as acceptable threads. It didn't annoy anyone when they were posted.

Yes it matters :meh:
Who are these people that said it mattered then but not now?

I already said I wasn't going to waste my time hunting those old threads down.

I wouldn't expect you to either, but when you claim across multiple threads that there are many posters saying the comparisons don't matter now, I'd expect you to be able to name at least some of them.
It's almost like you made that wee argument up in your head(then claimed the site was full of hypocrites and liars)

lol, it wasn't made up in my head, as other posters here acknowledge what I said. These comparison articles were accepted over at TXB, over here, some people are trying to make articles out to be worthless. That's not in my head.
Who they were doesn't matter to me, the threads were accepted. Discussions got heated over at TXB, but people didn't generally dismiss these sites that did the comparison.

Anyway, like I said, I'm not going to bother hunting down threads over the course of many years from a dead forum. You can continue to get on my back about it, but it is what it is.

Good luck finding the threads if you can even get to the forums. Miles deep below the bot zone with no way to search for them.
