I mean... why not?

I'm gonna be awfully disappointed if they don't exist...

It's a mathematical improbability that we are alone in the universe. As to why intelligent life has never contacted us? That's obvious, what intelligent life would want to talk to us?

There's hundreds of billions of galaxies out in space. No way we're the only ones.

I was abducted from TeamXbox...

Seriously, I do believe there is live somewhere out there. It just seems too selfish to believe we are the only ones not to mention so many unexplained occurrences throughout history.

At least I want to believe :D

The universe is big. The multiverse is infinitly bigger. Not only are there aliens, but there are exact copies of you and me out there.

Wasn't the multiverse theory born out of science's inability to otherwise explain the level of fine tuning necesarry to create our own universe (without accepting, or at least not flat out denying, that there may have been a creator)?

That was my understanding of it. Watched a fantastic programme on it a year or so back. The multiverse theory is interesting, but I'm not 100% convinced.

I do, but I'm not entirely sure it's a Star Trek-esque deal. More like micro-scopic organisms, perhaps some fish stuff here and there, maybe a a planet of platypus, but if there was life similar to us, it'd be a pretty unreachable distance for our society.

Sure. Universe is to big for there not to be.

Yeah. I read Carl Sagan doing the math, and it seemed incontrovertible. What is impossible, really, is that we are the only semi-intelligent species in the entire universe. That is just hubris or bad math.

I've never been able to believe in UFOs, though (that they are alien visitors, I mean).

Seeing as how we haven't even gotten our asses to Mars yet, I like to keep an open mind about what's really out there.

That, and it would be silly for just this one little planet to be the only one with life on it anywhere in the entire universe.

Of course. Even if it's just a bacteria-sized thing and hasn't yet evolved.

Just don't let hippies release a dove and we should be safe if aliens ever visit us.

I'm not sure the "glassing 80% of human life" thing they sorta gloss over in halo is a good thing to hope for.
