It can't be not there right? Doesn't MS know how many people use their 360's as a media hub in their living room pulling media from their computer that's in another room?

You can buy songs or albums just like iTunes, or you can pay $100/year($10/month) for unlimited ad free streaming with the Xbox music pass. With the Xbox music pass you can also download as many songs as you want for offline streaming, but when the pass runs out, you don't get to keep the songs. Pretty sure it is technically skydrive. Which is 7gig by default.

Penny Arcade Report asked Microsoft and they said it does support audio cd playback and it is currently in process of being certified for DLNA support.
