Hi all. It’s a big day for us at Worldwide Studios as we are now in a position to announce a launch date for the much anticipated PS4 exclusive title from Evolution StudiosDRIVECLUB.

The team has been working relentlessly on the game and have captured a new video to showcase just how impressive it’s currently looking. I absolutely loved it so please watch through to find out the date.

We planned for the game to be ready for early 2014 and are committed to delivering on our ambitious promise of creating a truly innovative, socially connected racing game. The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What DRIVECLUB offers has not been previously achieved in this category and because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for.

In addition to the new date, we are also very pleased to announce that as of February 2014, Paul Rustchynsky – better known as Rushy – has been at the helm of DRIVECLUB as Game Director.

His experience when it comes to delivering racing games is impeccable. Previously Game Director on critically acclaimed MotorStorm RC, he has been an integral contributor to all major titles coming out of Evolution Studios since 2004. With Rushy in the lead, we know DRIVECLUB will deliver on its initial promise to be a truly next gen racing title for our PS4 portfolio.

We are really proud of the incredible work the team has produced – their tenacity and passionate pursuit of excellence is admirable and DRIVECLUB will be all the better for it.

Your anticipation for the title since my last update has been a huge source of motivation for the team at Evolution Studios, and I know they are all extremely grateful for your continued support.

Look out for plenty more news on DRIVECLUB in the coming weeks including a blog update direct from Rushy tomorrow, and don’t forget, the date is in the trailer. I hope you enjoy watching it.

Later than I thought, but it's okay I guess, looking really good. Would have preferred summer.

Nearly a full year delay. Assuming they're trying to make their holiday exclusive lineup a bit stronger?

Looks fantastic, but I doubt it will hit 60fps. Still a ways off though, so it's possible.

Yeah, big-time delay. I was more interested when it was set to release during the drought. But now it looks to be releasing at around the same time of Arkham Knight and no game will distract me from Bats next adventure. I guess I’ll still download the Plus edition if there still is one but doubtful I will cough up any money for this unless it blows me away somehow.

So it that October or August?

This is one of the reasons I bought my PS4. Glad to see it's still gonna make it out this year. I just wish they would have shown actual gameplay instead of replay footage. I did see a ½ second game play at 1:25 though. I am with Valliance...60fps, period.

Based on that video, the game looks HELLUVA fun!

After watching that video and seeing how they are pushing visuals and using all that dynamic lighting, there is no way the game will be 60fps. I agree racers should be 60fps but it is interesting to watch them push those graphics.

I hope it's 30 just because people shouldn't dislike it just for that one reason..

Also, I don't want it to be a open frame rate, i have noticed those are always jittery when panning.

Game looks like its going to play and feel stunning. i have faith in Evolution to make the game feel fantastic

Coming back looking like a stunner.

I hope they eventually give some full details on the delay and what they enhanced/changed.

The majority of people want 60fps, locked. Maybe they should offer an option in settings to lower it to 30fps for people such as yourself that prefer 30fps.

Evolution to make the game feel fantastic

I didn't like Motorstorm at all, but this looks 100 times better than Motorstorm.

I'm not bothered about 60fps. I'm just happy we have a release date and the game is being shown again.

I agree they aren't hitting 60 fps locked at those visuals.

If they leave the framerate unlocked (infamous, etc.) it will probably be 40-50 average.

after going from 60fps to back to 30ish in racers, I can't handle 30fps in racers anymore. I just rely on the smoothness now. I'm guessing this game will be 60fps, they've just been working on it far too long.

Most people don't want 60, most people can't even tell a difference when tested.

Racers, sports and FPS's should be 60fps. I couldn't imagine playing a 30fps racer.

Clearly the game is pushing visual boundaries over FPS, why is that so hard for you to understand? PS4 doesn't have unlimited power of the cloud.

I'm just hoping their interaction between cars is well done, I expect it to be coming from their work on Motorstorm. Just need a video that shows it

Speaking with VG247 as part of our new Driveclub interview, Rustchynsky said, “[Striving for 60FPS] was something that we stated as an early target to ourselves.

“As we’ve got more familiar with the hardware, and also, looking at what we wanted from the game, we decided that 1080p, 30 frames per second is absolutely the best thing, because what that allows us to do is to deliver the most detailed cars in-race that you will ever have seen.

“It’s allowed us to create some of the biggest tracks you will ever see in a racing game, with the most visually-dense environments, as well as a full global illumination system which allows us to make time of day, where shadows are cast, full-on reflections. It’s allowed us to push all those various areas.”

Rustchynsky added that Sucker Punch’s PS4 debut inFamous: Second Son looked gorgeous thanks to various techniques and mechanics made possible by keeping the game running at 30FPS.
