Drive Club Release Date: 10/07/14 (NA) + New Trailer

Is it true that there is no longer a dynamic day and night cycle?
I personally don't mind too much about 30fps as long as it looks stunning, I enjoyed Forza Horizon immensely which ran at 30 fps.
I'm a bit disappointed in the fact the PS PLUS version only has 10 cars and only tracks from the one country though, seems like a glorified demo tbh.

The day and night cycle is still there but you can self-select it now or put it on random, rather than it being locked in to the time you are playing. The devs stated they got rid of that because most people play at night when they get home, which would have meant every time you would have played the game during the week it would have been night time in the game.

The PS+ version is free by the way.

There were short clips of in-game from the trailer, like the introduction of a track etc.

They had a half second of actual gameplay while you are in game using the controller while racing, and that was at 1:26.

I think in the beginning when they were introducing some cars as well, that was the beginning of a race.

a super long delay and that is the date you choose.

Game sent out to die.

Be careful which version you buy

Driveclub is an upcoming PS4 racing game that, in the absence of a next-gen Gran Turismo, is something a lot of people are looking forward. Just be careful which version you buy.P

To help lure you in, a "free" copy of the game is being made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers. It's obviously scaled down, with only a few tracks and cars available, though it will let you try out every game mode.P

If you like what you play and want the full package, you've got two options. There's a full copy being sold on both Blu-Ray and the PSN store which, at $60, will be your standard racing game. All the tracks, all the cars, you know the deal. You'll need a PS+ subscription for multiplayer, but everything else is yours so long as the disc (or your HDD) and your PS4 survive.P

Or, you can "upgrade" the free version to the PlayStation Plus edition, retaining all progress you've made. This is $10 cheaper, at $50. Like the disc edition, this will give you access to everything, only with a catch: it'll be tied to your PS+ account. Stop subscribing and you won't be able to access the content, even though you paid $50 for it.

So, um, yeah. f*** that. Get the full version or don't get it at all. Below is a trailer that tries to explain all this, and I promise you, it is not satire

Agree, PS+ version is such a waste. You have to imagine the retail version will be $50 within a month of release anyway. Sounds like everyone involved regrets the PS+ version now...

It was a pretty idiotic decision and they backtracked on that pretty fast. You'll be able to still play the game without the PS+ membership now.

Yup, good decision otherwise there's going to be a LOT of angry owners. #4theplayers

UPDATE: Our priority for DRIVECLUB is to enable you to play and enjoy everything it has to offer and PlayStation recognises that the prior plan for DRIVECLUB entitlement for the upgrade to the PS Plus edition was not appropriate. As a result, we have adjusted the PlayStation Plus terms for DRIVECLUB.

Now, If you intend on downloading DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition, and upgrading to the full game experience, you will have access to the full game even if your PlayStation Plus subscription runs out.

I can understand where they are going I guess. If you're planning on keeping PS+ for a long time, might as well save some money on the game. That said, this isn't the same as the normal freebies you get from PS+ so I can understand those games no longer working after your sub runs out. I think they had a video to try and explain it but just dumb all around. Don't even put yourself in a place to get ridiculed after you won over so many gamers after MS's issues.

Inevitably, we have micro-transactions explained (they seem reasonable):

Hey Jester, thanks for posting those videos. The sense of speed and change in lighting conditions looks awesome. There’s a weather system and damage modeling as well, right?

I don’t mind microtransactions when you can unlock things just by playing. Gamers just like to complain about almost everything these days. But the truth is some players don’t mind paying to unlock things so I can’t blame developers for giving them that option.
