EA Access: Sony's response, is it the future of gaming and does it affect gamers?

"I think one of the key things is that once a game goes into the Vault it stays there, it's not going to be taken out, that's a commitment we've made."

Good news.
Good stuff. Just about everyone is liking this offer aside from ones who prefer streaming last gen rentals which cost anywhere from about $5 for 4 hours or $30 for 90 days..... for one game.

I've yet to see a single person say they even LIKE the PS Now service let alone that they like it over this EA deal.

So please, show me that one single person.

I'm not one to call out names but if you look in both of these EA threads there are two people that I saw post that the EA deal doesn't interest them but the PS now one does.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. I like things that people don't like.

I haven't seen a single person post here, saying they prefer PS Now. Some of you here are pretty delusional on the fact that Microsoft agreed to EA's terms while Sony refused and feel you need to defend it with your life, when no one is really arguing against it to PS Now.

You don't get out much. Here's a guy with an entire article.

PS4 vs. Xbox One: PS Now Is Better Than EA Access
By Bob Fekete on August 5, 2014 6:24 PM EDT

So, Sony gets slack for its pricing and gets the whole 'Future potentialz' thing going on, but EA do not get slack for small library ( a library of games only a few months old). To be honest, the whole comparison is r******d. PS Now and EA access are not even close to being the same.

I do like ps now service but from what i am hearing i will for sure be getting the ea access soon as i can get a x1 later this year. Ps now once its pricing gets better i think will do well, i didnt have any bad lag or major issues when i played games on ps now.

lol, i enjoyed playing dead island and alpha protocol on ps now i am not going lie, but i will tell you i have stopped using it because of the pricing they have going. Dead island was free for closed beta testing but i paid to rent alpha protocol. They actually have some good games up now though like metal gear solid 4 and zone of the enders collection but the pricing is what stopping me from using it anymore. EA access i am going to pickup soon as i get a x1 so i can play battlefield and try out fifa, loved fifa soccer on my 3DO but havent played one since then.

PS Now wouldn't be bad if the games were more recent, it was cheaper and it wasn't a stream. Going by that exmaple PS Now pricing chart posted on the net a month ago, if the prices were at minimum 50% cheaper it might be worth it for short term renting for a week at $5. But just about all of the games on the master list could be bought brand new for cheap. You can get most of the retail games for $10 or $20 new, with the digital style games for no more than $10. You could probably scoop up most of the indie style games for $5 for the full game.

PS Now is NOT a bad service. It's an optional service allowing you to play a back catalog of games. More options > less options. However, there is a consensus that it is overpriced. If it's overpriced, Sony will see that based on the population using the service and adjust accordingly.

Yeah it's not a bad service, just priced horribly.

PS Now is only a beta...I think that is the whole point of a beta...testing it, including pricing.

True, but come on. How can anybody think those prices would fly ? being a BETA does excuse stupidity.

that service will be useless until they bring in PS4 games..

also if you have a PS3 i am sure 90% of the games there could be BOUGHT for same or cheaper price then the rental price (thats of substantial time)

Its not just for PS4 though. It is coming to non gaming hardware and it comes to Vita aswell. Can you play the PS3 games on the Vita ?

its coming to Vita? thats cool, but coming to TVs is same.. better to just have a PS3

It would help their service a lot if they had ps4 games. I wonder why they haven't already done that, seems obvious that they should.

Yeah, is on Vita. IGN have a video showing the Last of Us being played on one. Having a specific piece of hardware for a specific job is always going to be better, but why buy a PS3, PS4, PS5, if you have hardware like a TV, Blu-ay player, perhaps even their A/V receivers. The big picture here could be huge if Sony can nail the streaming aspect. Lower latency, right pricing, consistent performance. Right now, it may not be the best option, but in a couple years this could be a huge revenue stream for Sony.

Also, I believe you will see MS doing something like this pretty soon. Imagine MS having the ability to stream 360 games, and X1 games to PC, Surface, Windows Phones..etc. You can forget next-gen costly hardware and R&D and start thinking cheaper hardware already out in the wild and with a plethora of options.
Obviously this is just all my own theory of where gaming is heading. Perhaps I am jumping on this too soon and another traditional gen and life-cycle time is needed, but I am very confident that both these huge gaming entities will be experimenting with this stuff for the majority of this generation.

as i say imo these thing will not gain huge popularity until they have PS4/X1 games on their service (if xbox gets something similar). the problem is giving users these options would limit and kinda destroy the revenue of PS4/X1 games and hardware.

if it did kick off though i fear we will be seeing even more shoehorned MP for games that should be focusing on SP lol

So now they say no titles will ever be removed and will be yours to keep forever?

Sounds good to me. If they add more attractive titles to me into the vault, I might consider subscribing but that may be later down the road in another year or so.
Definitely could be good for people who decide to wait a while to jump into the new generation. Could be tons of good older games in there in a year or two.

This sounds great to me. Sony is full of s*** here. They simply know it's makes PlayStation Now look like s***. Lets see I can stream games that may not work right or I can get discounts or with EA access I can download full newer games and will always run well.

How any gamer can say this is a bad thing is beyond me. if you play one game a month at 5 bucks it's worth it. I hope more devs try it. I hope Sony changes their tune as it's BS it won't be on PS4. Sony keeps this s*** up I'll get a One in the future.

At the annual sub price of $30, it's actually $2.50/month. Less than the price of a low end Starbucks coffee.

The value is absurd even with the four games. In a month, Madden and FIFA will probably be permanently discounted to $2o or 30 since the new versions come out. BF4 may still linger up there as there's no EA shooter coming soon, though the next CoD is so BF4 may get permanently half priced too for sake of competing. Peggle 2 will probably remain at $10 or $15 (I forget what it is).

So even if a gamer only cares about one bargain game at $30 in the next few months, the annual rate basically breaks even. It's not like the trade in value of them will be high in a few months. And of course there's the 10% off digital deal and trials. Someone who buys two digital deals to save $6 each ($12) makes the annual price $18!

The more you want, the better the deal. Being conservative, the value of these 4 games is probably $100 assuming half price deals coming soon..... and the kicker is EA will be adding games. I don't see them adding crappy NBA Live 14, but down the line I see P vs Z next, and in 2015 NFS when their new racer comes in 2015 (they said they were taking a year off).

I've been lovin' Madden, BF4, I even downloaded Fifa and tried it out. Friggin cool ass game and I never, NEVER play soccer games! Its worth the money. And the deals on games like UFC, its like $40.

I am willing to bet UFC and NFS rivals are in the vault before the year is out.

I thought they would have added more games on the final release yesterday.

Nah. The early access had a entry proviso. Now it is unleashed upon all. 4 games for the next 3 months or so and then one or both those games I mentioned above will get thrown in. Maybe Plants v Zombies too.
