Editorial: The Xbox One-PS4 winner will have the best games, not the best graphics

There are a lot of things that make up a consoles success. And while I do believe the Xbox One will have the best lineup of games this year and next, you cannot deny the massive amount of negativity surrounding their system borne out of their controversial policies earlier this year.

I'd like it to go away as much as the next person, but it will take them time to overcome that.

No doubt XB1 has a great lineup of exclusive games. I think with a price drop and Titanfall exclusivity their sales will pick up quite a bit.

Well...if you would have told me at the beginning of this generation that xbox 360 would be in SECOND place and Sony would be in LAST place I would have called you crazy. So who knows.

No article of any length can excuse why COD:G runs like dogs*** on PC.
1 billion in one day explains why Acvision won't give a damn. And yes I know what sold in means, but they will sell all those through.

Well I think it's safe to say that Nintendo will not make a run for Gold this generation. Beyond that though, as you said, who knows.

What is the definition of winning?

I think one could argue that all 3 major console makers won last generation, and I hope they all win again.

The Wii sold the most hardware units and gained a significant following from the casual crowd. And even though I hate it, it really brought motion control into the mainstream.

The PS3 definitely lost some ground, but still had very strong console sales despite its high price, lots of great games, an improving online experience, and a decent attach rate.

The Xbox 360 may barely end up coming in last in terms of console sales, but it gained a significant market share, had the highest attach rate, had the best online gaming platform, had lots of great games, and was the superior platform for most 3rd party games.

It seems to me like the people that won this past generation were the gamers that didn't align themselves with or obsess over one platform, but rather enjoyed them all.

Right out of the gate...there's clearly a leader.

Forget the war or getting both, I'm currently leaning on not getting any at all. I am really the only one disappointed that we're not getting 1080p 60 FPS right out of the box? I understand having to cut costs, but a 5 year old computer (if not older) can easily accomplish this with games that are released even today. How are these consoles not pushing enough power?

They're not comparable to high end PCs because they're on SoCs that are designed for performance/watt and cost savings.

I'm just so meh on that. It really doesn't bother me personally. That's become the least deciding factor despite people running it as one of the most important things,.

But that's my point, though. It's not comparable to a high-end PC today, fine. But it's not even comparable to a high-end PC several years ago, which to me is not acceptable.

They want to save costs? Me too, I'm not $*(&( buying it.

Certainly if you like indie games the ps4 has lots of titles.

If you can afford a $1000 PC, go for it. Consoles are popular mainly because of price/performance, and exclusive games of course.
