Official Thread Elder Scrolls VI

Trying to look like they are backpedaling but then flip flop again once this trial is over. Watch.

He's so full of s*** lol the only way it's not exclusive is if they get out of the console business. I mean Phil not you Wolf lol.

Sounds like Corpo speak. True talk but enough wiggle room to make either choice down the line legally viable.

I mean, this is not going to be console exclusive.

It will be Microsoft exclusive, because it will be on Windows PC.

So to me, that is not console exclusive...........

Microsoft has been great at supporting both Xbox and PC.

I can't play Nintendo games on a PC or a Mac, that's ok though?

The whole thing is a farce. I don't even care though. It just smells of hypocrisy and I hate that stuff.

if you can play switch games on an Xbox then I’m pretty sure you can a Mac and pc, just like you can on the Steamdeck.

As to that last comment, I feel outta the loop atm, but for some reason it’s making me crave pizza

Yep. Phil wouldn't even confirm which Xbox console it will come out on.

We will probably get Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 before this.
Much more certainly than “probably.”

Unfortunately.

I’m betting it is a next gen title.

Why are fanboys so small minded.

The last mainline Elder Scrolls game sold 60 million. It actually makes more financial sense right now to keep it multiplatform.

But, who knows what the market, both home console and cloud, will look like in 6+ years time. If Xbox can turn things around enough they might need those Playstation sales.

So, why in the hell would you make such a big decision so far out??? Makes no sense.

Next gen launch title
I wouldn't bet on that, it'll probably be a year or so after launch unless the console comes later than expected and then it'll be cross-gen anyway. They said at least 5 years away, if it's going to be on a new console that's probably going to add another year at least of dev time and the 5 years was probably wishful thinking anyway, they still have to make add on content for starfield.

And then there’s The Elder Scrolls VI – perhaps the only game to rival Grand Theft Auto VI for sheer anticipation. Once again, he’ll direct. It will mark his fourth time at the helm of the series; it’s one he has overseen since 2002’s The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The team announced the game five years ago, on the same night as Starfield. It was a decision spurred on by the then-trend of Marvel movies being announced in slates, years ahead of even materialising. By the time the game is finally finished – probably 2028, but it’s anyone’s guess – it’ll be closing in on two decades since the release of Skyrim.
Do you regret announcing that when you did?

“I have asked myself that a lot,” he says, slowly. “I don’t know. I probably would’ve announced it more casually.”
Does it have a codename?
“It does.”
Do you like saying it out loud?

He laughs. “I do.”
But you won’t say it to me?
“I won’t.”
Is there anything you can tell me about what you want to achieve with it?
“It’s like… I don’t want to answer, but I want to be polite. I will say that we want it to fill that role of the ultimate fantasy-world simulator.” He pauses for a moment. “And there are different ways to accomplish that given the time that has passed.”

It was announced too soon. However, I bet it would have come out during this trial.

Speaking to GameSpot at PAX Australia today, Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines and ZeniMax Online Studios game director Matt Firor said it'll be a long time before The Elder Scrolls VI comes out--so long that the game might not hit until new console hardware is release.

"The easiest thing is look at how it was announced; it was Starfield and then [Elder Scrolls 6]," Firor said. "You can go back and count the years between Bethesda Game Studios releases, and you'll get the idea that [The Elder Scrolls 6 is] not coming anytime soon."

I asked Firor about The Elder Scrolls VI in regards to how that game's release might affect ZeniMax's MMO The Elder Scrolls Online. Specifically, I was wondering if The Elder Scrolls Online might incorporate the world of The Elder Scrolls VI in some way, following the way in which Morrorwind came to The Elder Scrolls Online by letting players go back to Vvardenfell. Firor said it's too soon to say what will happen as it relates to whatever location The Elder Scrolls VI takes players to.

"I don't even know what the world is going to be like when it comes out; there will be a different console generation by then, I'm sure," he said. "Who knows. But I know we're free and clear for a long time."

Probably end of gen if it is just starting early development now.

The last question is about… Next week we will finally be playing Starfield. We know that Bethesda Game Studios will continue to work on that, but can we expect that after the release of Starfield we will have more news, or any news, about The Elder Scrolls VI?

Let's see, over time, but years later. We have put all of our studios focused on making this game the best it can be. And yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls VI, but this is what the studio has focused on. So no, you are not going to hear early about The Elder Scrolls VI. Starfield is our focus for now, and it's going to remain our priority for a while before we talk about anything else.

Just to be clear, is The Elder Scrolls VI in pre-production or in a concept phase?

No. It's in development, but it's in early development.

Still won't give a straight yes or no

Still wouldn't be surprised if this was a next gen launch title. Or at least put just before with the enhancements coming to next gen like they did with Xbox One games and the Series S/X

If it turns out to be a next gen launch title I would say that basically guarantees Xbox exclusivity - unless they want to make it multiplatform and use it as a Trojan Horse to get their hands on PS6 dev kits early.

They won't need to because of COD.

They are waiting for the ATVI acquisition to go through I'm guessing before they go full out publicly and say yes. Internally it is already a yes is my guess.

My guess, it’ll be exclusive, but it’ll be a launch title for next gen that happens to be on series s/x as well…like BotW

Fallout 5 will be next gen Xbox/pc exclusive tho…
