Oooooh noooo....this must mean it will be boring as hell. Four players? Freaking Titanfall already only had 6v6, what is this?

Seriously though. Are we gonna see the same kind of crying about this now too? I highly doubt it, for the simple reason that this is multiplatform and Titanfall is Xbox exclusive. I bet it were a lot of Sony fanboys nagging and complaining about Titanfall. As for the article :) :

Evolve, like Left 4 Dead before it, will feature a team of four players battling it out against enemies, and for good reason: Turtle Rock found through trial and error that when you add more players, they become harder to keep track of.

Speaking with Game Informer, creative director Chris Ashton said when the team was working on Left 4 Dead, Valve wanted more players added to the initial team in the game. When Turtle Rock told the company it “wouldn’t work,” Valve decided to test it for themselves before agreeing with the original assessment.

“One of the first things that the Valve guys did when they started playing Left 4 Dead and they really enjoyed it, they were like, ‘This is great, but we could make it work for five guys or six guys,’” relayed Ashton. “They changed the code on their side and they tried it, and eventually they came back to four.

“What happens is, there’s a weird thing in that most people I think are able to track three friends. I can know that you’re over here and you’re in front of me and you’re to my left. And I can keep that in my mind, and I can keep in my mind that you have 50 health and you have 80 health, and I can keep track of that and fight another team.

“But if it’s four guys, it feels like I’m always losing one. I always don’t know where someone is, I don’t know where somebody’s health is – keeping track of four other friends is too much.”

The firm’s Phil Robb said it was also easier for a team of four to split into two groups to accomplish a goal, whereas with five, the “fifth player would run off and do something stupid and get himself caught.”

“It’s kind of weird,” he said. “There’s kind of some strange voodoo-type magic there. We’ve sat down and tried to figure it out from a scientific point of view, but there’s something about four guys.”

Evolve will be published by 2K Games and is slated for a fall release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

I think the exclusive argument is a bit much, but you're right in that it'll be interesting to see if people complain about this. Overall, it's gonna be a pretty creative year for MP games in my opinion. Something lots of us love to see, something some have been waiting for. 2014 is looking to be one of the more innovative ones.

I'm fine with four, as long as they do not include team killing like in Left 4 Dead (at least it was there last I played)

That is actually a good point man. MP games definitely seem to be getting some much needed changes. As for the first time..let's just say that it wouldnt surprise me if all the whiney bitches about Titanfall are all Sony fanboys on GAF.

I don't really see how that matters. At the end of the day sony fans can play the game on their pc.

It's an Xbox One exclusive not on PS4. It's still a big deal.

By your logic we should all be playing on PC. Not everyone owns a high end PC or cares to.

I think most mid range PC's will be able to run Titanfall just fine.

Isn't this game all players vs ai though? That makes a difference. Not that I think 4 players or 6 players isn't enough for some games, I just think what type of game it is needs to be looked at.

Depends on the type of game & how its design in the end.

This game is 5 player. 4 hunters versus 1 monster.

The right attitude would be to see Titanfall in line with games like this. I partly agree that all the flak's coming from Xbox exclusivity, but mostly it's because it is seen as a purely competitive shooter. I've been saying that the game borrows a lot from co-op shooters.

Back to topic, this game looks interesting. Reminds me of Arkham Origins's failed 3 vs 3 vs 2 design, but 4 vs 1 should be easier to balance.

I think we are comparing apples to oranges right there. This is more of a co-op type game, where Titanfall is more of a large scale competitive shooter.

I have confidence that both developers (Respawn and Turtle Rock) know what they are doing, as both studios are filled with very experienced and successful personnel with proven pasts. So I'm not going to second guess either until I play the games.

However, I do have to admit that I was a wee bit disappointed hearing that Titanfall had such a small human player count, not because it's an Xbox exclusive, but because it's a large scale competitive shooter and I've never been a big fan of having bots mixed in with human players during competitive multiplayer matches. Nevertheless, I'm expecting great things out of Titanfall and plan on getting it.

It just makes no sense to blame people's opinions on the fact that the game is "exclusive" to xbox when you can easily get it on pc and it doesn't even take a good pc to run it. Espeically to run it at the 720p the xb1 version will be.

So at the end of the day, MS fans can play Uncharted on their PS...so Uncharted really isn't exclusive?

Most people have a pc. I'm actually shocked people are even trying to argue this lol. Like really?

I don't know a single person, friend or family, that not only does not game on PC, but their PC's can barely run a Facebook game. They mostly get those $400 all in one desktops and click on the blue E to browse the web.

I have 4 computers at home, none of which will run any of the PC games out there, and they are new.

That's pretty sad lol. My gf's grandma is like 60 and she has a laptop that can run Titanfall. That's besides the point though. I guess I should have been more specific even though I didn't think I needed too and I thought it was obvious. People who are posting on forums sharing their negative opinion about stupid AI bots in Titanfall who get labeled as sony fanboys more than likely have a pc capable of running the game. Especially considering it's not very graphic intensive.

Well, I don't like gaming on PC (I guess nobody I knows likes to really even game that much....sadly). I think my son's new ASUS laptop could probably run Titanfall actually. But otherwise, my HP All in One Windows 8 piece of s*** won't, and both my Macbook Air and iMac won't run them since it's not coming out for Mac.

Well, they shouldn't get labeled as Sony fanboys. Unless of course, it's the same traditional Sony fans that keep posting the negative comments....and is showing a pattern.

Spies vs. Mercs is my favorite (greatest) multiplayer game out there and it's 2 v 2. Numbers mean nothing.
