Farewell teamxbox

Wow. I almost totally forgot about Teamxbox. I don't even miss it at all. I just logged out about a week ago and never have a desire to log back in. R.I.P.

MW better watch out. Give it a couple months and he won't be on top of that leaderboard anymore.

It's kind of nice just posting and knowing I don't have to manage, oversee, monitor, wrangle or anything else here. Just show up when I feel like it and not worry about it day to day. Was awesome for the time it lasted but am glad it's over. But it's pretty insane how so many of you still keep this circle going. Blows my mind, it's pretty dead on 10 years this month that IGN did the buyout. Time sure flies. But so many things have happened in the years that have passed.

You can say that again. When I look back at my life when I first started posting and TXB, and look at it now, I hardly even recognize it.

@Shockwave, is that really you?! Welcome, brother! Glad to have you with us! If it wasn't for you, then this new forum isn't possible! You have my respect 100%!

Shockwave, if you ever plan to get Ps4/Xbox One or something, give us your username and we'll play together!

There was another Marcellus Wallace at TXB at one time. Not sure if they went by another name at some point.

@Shockwave Lots of good memories from the forums and E3. TXB will be missed but never forgotten.
A few photos from the last E3 we made it to.

My understanding was that Marcellus Wallace changed his name to MW at TXB and now goes by M.Wallace.

What he should have done was stick with just the one name..dirty perverted pigeon f*cker.

The whole name changing thing at TXB really threw me for a loop.

Ya this was the one I went to on my own for my own good after missing the one in 2010. It was good to see some people who still kept true to themselves and the friendships...such as you and people like Andy Eddy, John Lenaway, Telka Curtis, etc. It was also good to see some people who can suck a dick and give them the stink eye.

LOL

Love this stuff. You mean since you sold TeamXBox to IGN?

You got so much cash out of the situation I don't know why you still act like you were this big community guy. Especially since you rampantly insulted the TXB community right before IGN canned you.

Towards the end of things, ya it became a headache. You have to understand the whole situation. For the bulk of the time I did TXB, yes I was a community guy. I put my all into the site for more than a decade. I ran it for 3 years sinking myself into debt not knowing what the future would hold because I loved it so much.

You have to realize the frustration that built up as a result of IGN yanking most all of the technical support for the site, leaving us floating dead in the water in terms of keeping the forums updated, launching new versions of the website, etc. It was massively difficult to have glaring issues in my face on a daily basis, being reminded of them constantly by the forum users who would bring these things up, yet I was unable to do much about them because my hands were tied. People offered to help, but it wasn't a simple matter of saying, hey ok help out because IGN controlled the back end and it lived on their servers and I wasn't able to just let anyone have the keys to the castle.

So ultimately, yes I lost my cool a few times when things would boil over and I'd get upset about things. For instance NBY making a lude comment about my child, that set me off and I said some things. Or other things people would post that would just remind me of the frustrations and I'd react by saying the place was turning to s***. Not only because people were being so overly negative in their posts, but because the site itself was already on life support as it was.

So ya, you really just need to see the whole picture, but to sit there from across the other side of things and narrow it all down as if all I ever did was collect a big paycheck and sit pretty...no.

You really have no idea all the things that went on or what it all meant.

Well your language is obviously meant to absolve you from "fault" for why IGN ended up owning the site... and you always let everyone treat you like a victim. "Poor Shockwave! IGN is evil!"

You sold it to them.. it made you fairly wealthy for a while.. we all know because you posted your big house and your vette and the fact you bought your Dad a truck, etc... and while I don't personally CARE.. you also insisted repeatedly nothing would change about the site despite IGN buying it.

That's mostly what you shared with the majority of the community.. you met maybe .001% of the community in real life and yucked it up with them from time to time, but the rest of us were just observers as you for the last 5 years at least barely showed up to actually post... you showed up to be angry and ban people for the most part.

And still on about that NBY situation.. that was hilarious. He posted a joke about a toy.. it wasn't a lewd comment towards your child. You let the entire community gang up on NBY for some reason about that.

And let's all forget why you had such a big "forum" in the first place.. you didn't create the userbase for TXB even.

You are a lucky guy who made a ton of money mostly focusing on a mediocre front page of a web site that made money because of it's massive base of forum posters... a base you were handed over for free as far as I know from the MSXbox.com guys.

Anyways.. just my opinion.

lol

Geeze man it was a bad joke years ago that I've apologized 1000 times for. Though we'd buried that hatchet.

In other news, now that we're so far removed from those days. I wonder if someone will come forward regarding who made that twitter account.

We did man, I'm just bring it up as a point of reference to a time when I know I said something in response. And I know I was beyond pissed at that point and frustrated and I'm pretty sure I called the OTL the internet's a****** or something along those lines. But was mentioning that as an example lol.

I'm over it now, no worries.

And it sucks if you had some rough times.. that IGN didn't play well with you, whatever.

Not hear to hate you or anything Shock, I just always got an LOL out of the "praise the glory of Shockwave" posters and how you never told them to STFU. You let people do this weird worshiping you thing while you were getting paid quite a bit of money to do what you did... and you let people for YEARS bash IGN for TXB's issues.. helped to craft this odd "victim" story.

You create a web site and eventually made a ton of money from it. You made that money because of the forum posters.. that IMO, you never REALLY showed enough respect too. You never really thanked us all for helping you pay for your house, and that blue toy, etc.

We were a******s. The stuff I pulled with that flipd monk kid, riot, plain view, you, the one guy that never left his basement etc. was bs. I was a freaking troll douche with no consideration for the impact I was having on people. Ive made way more enemies than friends on here and it's my own fault.

That fake twitter after the hammer fiasco is when things got real and I learned that the Internet can be a scary place. Having someone pose as me etc was just weird.
