first xbox one update

I was playing Dead Rising 3 for a while and I leave my console on stand-by. After I powered it off (using voice command, like always), the power brick was making a different humming noise than usual and then it shut it self off completely. Does this sound normal?

if ms dominate @ software so well then a lot of these problems shouldn't even be there to begin with. They had at least 5 years to be working on this stuff.
Well then I guess it would make this the first time software that was long in the works was released with bugs.

its suppose to shut down completely
you just need to power it back on

as I posted
Your console will automatically download the update after you turn it off. Once the update has been downloaded in the background, your console will power completely down. Please note: You will need to manually power your console back on after the update has been downloaded. Because the update will power your console completely down, the “Xbox On” voice command won’t be available until after the update is fully installed.

Anyone in the UK got the update ?
Not that I can see. Ive not seen any installation take place whilst turning it off and on and I turned it back on using voice so the update couldn't have taken place. According to CVG it was released at 1am this morning UK time. My X1 is set to energy saving so should have installed in the background.

What's wrong with the party chat? It has worked fine for me.

Thanks for clarifying this, I woke up this morning and told my Xbox to turn on and it ignored me, then I manually turned it on and saw the update indicator and then the green screen. Figured the lack of response was connected to the update but nice to know for sure!

Got the update this morning too, installed without any problems , didn't take long either

It works yes but it's dumb.example if you have ryse invite someone to your party, then try and find a game it will for some r******d reason automatically just keep inviting the person in your party.you can't play against anyone else besides the person in the party. Also why do I have to hit turn on party chat when I made the party? All they need to do is make it like 360 version. It needs to stop turning my tv volume down as well when I start one.if I wanted to turn it down guess what Microsoft?i know how to control the volume on my own tv

Everyone in the party should be able to do different things

Dude, you expect them to fix all that in less than 3 weeks? This was a hotfix and nothing more, we will get a steady stream of updates so we should be happy about that.

Exactly. It will take them some time to sort out party chat and the like.

It starts! Yessir! I'll be getting my Xbox One soon enough.

Wait...you don't have one yet? Seriously? I thought you would have -- at least -- two by now.

Got the update during my lunch. My X1 still works. Success.

It is and the easiest way to tell if it has updated prior to turning it on will be the light on the power brick. If it is orange or amber rather than white -- it updated -- and you will have to turn it on manually as it is in a powered down state.

This I did not know.

This I did not know.

I saw it on mine this morning and thought something might be wrong. Made a call only to find out that I had updated. Thought someone else might want to know and skip the unnecessary phone call.

why am I not seeing this update? I keep my Xbox on low power mode but I still should have seen something right?

Have you had the XB1 turned on at all since the patch was released? The best thing to do to force it to run would be turn the XB on and then go back to hibernate mode. Mine downloaded overnight but I was actually playing Forza and watching TV pretty late.

I just got it a bit ago. I got home and it hadn't updated. I turned it on for a bit and turned it off and still nothing. I left it off (low power mode) and then later the next time I started up it updated. Mine was in low power mode all day.

Maybe they stagger the patch like they do Windows updates?

I didn't turn my Xbox on yesterday. I tried turning it on and off just now and still nothing? I guess I'll just have to wait, not sure what else I can do

Got it, as soon as I tried to play a retail game it forced the update. My problem was I was playing too much ki.

As a reminder, the X1 logo screen will probably hang a little bit after update restart. Dont turn it off, just let the X1 do its thing.
