Well that means I didn't get in since I didn't get my invite. If they look at my Gamertag they will see I have been there since Forza Motorsport 1 through 7 and FH1 through 4. Not many can probably say that.

While I beat it because I just wanted a racer and didn't have anything else, I was disappointed with Forza 7. Way too many repeat tracks for one thing. Seemed like I was constantly racing on the fictional tracks which just aren't that good. The other cars also seemed to have magnets because anytime you would get remotely close you'd get stuck on them trying to pass. Made no damn sense.

The new 8 point contact tire model is great. So are the multiple compounds. Since compounds have been added I'm assuming tire wear and fuel usage are going to be actual features now...that should also mean pit crew s and animations.

My hope here, is that they turn leagues in to GT Sport. Strategies, licenses, Sportman ship rating, etc. Plus have some hoppers, like the Forza GT hopper, that utilize this stuff aswell. While not hurting the more casual class E to R lobbies.

I noticed that it said nothing about xbox one

No way they are doing cross gen with this. The tire model makes that an impossibility.
Isn’t there the model running at 120hz? Could we see it now at 240? Well we get white wall options for our tires, like width and colour? Will I have kbbq this today for lunch?

Not on Forza. Horizon 5 will likely be 60Hz since it seems to be cross gen, unless they split the user base. Forza 8 will be 360Hz.

This us why GT7 being dross gen is such bad news. Forza 8 is likely to be light years ahead. If T10 nail the competitive scene part they could get back all the players they lost.

I am thinking this could be the only Forza we get this gen. An ongoing game with new content.

That is fine. I'd be fine if Forza 8 releases October and every 6 months we got a decent DLC drop, like 3 or 4 tracks a bunch of cars...Maybe themed stuff like BTCC with 24 British Touing Cars, Snetterton, Donnington, etc and then a hopper for just that content, Nascar, F1, Australian Supercar, etc. There are so many possibilities.

Maybe release some free Fantasy tracks inbetween.

I’m gonna guess and say fm7 is running the same…

"At the end of the day, an electronically controlled system is one we have an inherent advantage at simulating," Greenawalt said, "because what the system is doing, micropulsing some feedback loop—this many Gs or whatever. We don't have to micropulse anything. At 360fps we know exactly how many Gs a car is pulling, so we get a shortcut—it's a cheat. But when you talk about forces building up in a car that's partially made of wood, partially made of steel, and it's got some busted welds and it's flexing," he tells us, "that's hard to simulate!"

Most likely, but there are a good few systems like this an tire contact that all run at varying speed. The Gs are actually a simple system and I doubt you would even noticed a change here...but even if you did, it boils down to the tire model anyway, and suspension model.

I’d love to see old tracks cover back, like Fuji kaido, pacific ship yards, any real Japanese race track that has been dishonorably forbidden from western devs.

I’d love to see the time square New York track again. It’d be An awesome showcase for raytraced reflections at anytime of day/night.

but the best thing I’d die I’d it happen, track packs from other games that haven’t seen the light of day in generations. Would love to see like a classic arcade track bundle featuring that track from ridge racer, the scud racer/super-gt tracks that were in a Daytona game, I think. Maybe tracks from Sega rally, maybe San Francisco rush.

That is an interesting idea.

I’m too lazy to look back and see if this info has been posted already :p

0:00 | Intro
1:44 | New Tire Collision Detection Model
3:06 | New Curbs
3:55 | New Tire Compounds and Fuel Strategy
5:10 | New Environment Factors
5:48 | Official Name Confirmed

Quick summary

Playtest beginning of May went better than expected, more playtest to come;

The playtest was centred around multiplayer and core mechanics;

The community have been opinionated on Chris tinkering with the tyre collision model (prior to FM);

The new range of changes are more signifcant between FM7 -> FM8 than between FM2 -> FM7;

Will be a true generational leap unlike anything we have ever seen before (in this series);

GT is not playing any more so they (Turn10) know they need to put their best effort into this game;

Biggest change is to tyre collision detection model - this is the part of the game that communciates how your car interacts with the track (wear, surface etc). Previously there was one point of contact that refreshed at 60Hz, new tyre model has 8 points of contact and refreshes at 360Hz;

New curbs - all of these improvements will be subtle but there will be a dramatic response in curb interaction. They used to be inconsistent but now more accurate;

Will finally support multiple tyre compounds, medium, hard and changeable during race;

All have different profiles on wear, traction etc. FM7 had different tyres but not compounds;

Will be able to refuel your car to arbitrary amounts. FM7 is all or nothing, will give more strategic racing options. Much closer to the GT experience;

More environmental factors affecting lap to lap gameplay. Tyre pressure, surface integrity, time of day and weather will all affect the racing dynamically;

Name confirmed as Forza Motorsport;

Next playtest in the summer, more to share after that;

Think it has all been posted before but is scattered.

Sounds like FM is heading in the right direction.

Sounds too good to be true, so we shall see. I wish I was in on the alpha testing, or whatever they call it.

Can't be worse than FM7.
I downloaded FM7 to my Xbox Series X this morning. NASCAR was on Sonoma this past weekend, so now I want to do some Sonoma. Gonna play me some FM7 and GT Sport this week until Ratchet is unlocked.

This actually sounds great. The thing I think many will overlook and underestimate is the dynamic Force Propagation, but this should have a profound effect on upgrading and upgrading balance and should help end the ridiculous advantage power builds has over handling builds that we see in FM5, 6, and 7.

Stoked to hear officially that 2022 will be giving us the info dumps. A good sign the game will release in 2022.
