Gaming headset recommendations

Im waiting for an official one from MS just for voice chat like the 360 one.

I ended up buying the xo fours, I didn't realize they were wireless too and I saved $70, I'm sure they sound very similar to the xo sevens. Wont be able to test them till tomorrow

If anyone is planning on getting the Polk Audio 4 Shots avoid them right now because many users are saying the mic is a piece of crap.

I did - and they were right - I've returned them myself for the same reason. It's amazing how bad they mic is...

I ended up traveling quite a bit to find a headset adapter (sold out everywhere - go figure)... and found a set of noise-cancelling headphones where the mic is 100x better.. (Sony MDR-10RNCs).. while they're slightly pricier, they're also much lighter and I can use them for other purposes than just gaming...

I just got home and figured I'd try the xo fours out real quick. I think they sound fine and I love how nothing connects to the xbox. Having trouble figuring out the mic volume with the adapter, I am able to turn the game volume up but the left side of the adapter seems to be doing the same thing?.....glad I saved myself $70 and didn't get the xo sevens.

Now that the X1 supports Dolby Digital via Optical after the system update, Im going for Astro A50s. A bit pricey, but pretty much considered the best gaming headset on the market. And now that the Adapter is out it works for game chat too.

Just read the Amazon reviews for the polk ones and people were saying that they contacted Polk. Polk is aware and its a firmware issue. Supposedly they expect an update to roll out in 2-3 weeks. How's the battery life on these things? And anyone with a big head find one that's comfortable for them? I can never seem to find one that fits my head...

the xo fours were cutting in and out a little while watching some you tube videos, hopefully this was a you tube thing and not something with the headset, they seemed fine for the most part in game.

no batteries and nothing connected to the Xbox is really nice

anyone know if the popping or cutting out is something with these headsets or the Microsoft adapter? Like I said it seemed ok in game and maybe did it twice which is still to much but when watching YouTube it was really bad

I heard it pretty bad on the polks while playing the TF trailer and watchdogs trailer on the Xbox .. But didn't hear it in-game ...

I haven't tried it with the new adapter and headset I bought last night... Will try it and post results...

Doesn't it use the batteries from your controller? If so what's the battery life like on the controller when using them. Its one of the things I'm a little worried about.

some people at neogaf think it might be the adapter, If so there needs to be a fix soon, I'll hold off on returning these since I doubt its the headset

Checked again tonight with my new adapter and new headsets (not the polkas) - didn't hear it..

The Polks are having a software issue that has been debugged & the system is supposed to be updated in the next couple weeks, who knows when. I hear they are a great pair of headphones, it's just the chat volume isn't loud enough.

There's really no sense buying the XO7's either, you're paying $60 more for slightly better ear cushions & some removable side covers. If I was going to spend $160, I'd go with the Polk's once they are fixed.

I got the official one yesterday, quality product and like others say, it's just normal stereo at the moment on the X1.

These are well made only wire is the one that is into your controller. the mic can be moved so you would never know it was there and the whole package is in keeping with the design of the X1.

More than happy with them.

I am thinking this is the adapter and not a headset issue. Played Plants vs Zombies last night for a few and it was cutting in and out. Seems to do it sometimes when the game lags or things get hectic, very strange. I will give it a couple weeks to see if Microsoft acknowledges this adapter issue and makes a statement or I might have to return my XO fours. I rather not because when the do work I am happy with them but I should not be dealing with this when I pay $100 for a headset!

This might be dumb but can anyone explain how to adjust the chat? I have the XO fours, I see the chat symbol on the left but when I hit it the game volume goes down. Ill have to get in a party with someone and figure this out. Last night playing Titanfall I could not hear anyone talking and no one responded to me, maybe nobody was talking but who knows. Played Ghosts the other day and I could barely hear people but no one would respond to me so not sure if something is wrong?

I am also looking for a headset now that the polk audio sets turn out to be crap. What I want is a set that will give me game audio as well as chat, and I want 7.1.

After researching I came up with 4 choices.

Buy a DSS2 and a chat adapter and connect it to my X12s ~$80

Buy the SkullCandy Plyr1 with 7.1 it is based off the the A50s and it should work the chat adapter ~ $160

Buy the Astro A50 with chat Adapter ~$325

Buy the Tritton 720+ with chat adapter ~$160

My issues with the Turtle Beach sets are that they crack and hiss like every other turtle beach I have ever bought, and I'm not sure the X12s even with the DSS2 will give me good enough audio quality

The SkullCandy has an issue with the mic, really low

The Astro A50 is Hella Expensive

The Tritton 720+ is a madcatz product and dont tend to last more than a year.

I've got one on the way from best buy, I'll post if I encounter any of these issues.

Mine cuts in/out sometimes.. so its the adapter .. not the headsets...

I've been looking for a good gaming headset too. I'm kind of in a difficult spot because I want one that works with all 4 main consoles that I own (PS3, PS4, 360, One), so it seems any options that are specifically for the One are off the table.

Looking into it more, the Tritton 720+ seems like a perfect fit for me. Is reliability that big of a concern with it? On Amazon, it has some very solid reviews.

Also, have you heard anything about how the Tritton 720p performs with the Xbox One adapter? The descriptions don't mention any Xbox One support. I saw this in a review, however, shouldn't this be fixed with the latest update?

Unfortunately, the surround sound doesn't work on my Xbox One. That is because Microsoft did not release the Xbox one with Dolby digital compatibility and is NOT the fault of the headset. My friends have this set with the Xbox 360 and cannot say enough about them.

This. I had the wireless one that also doubled as a Bluetooth headset. Love it and hope MS put out something similar for the X1 as I do not need a full on headset as there is never reason to not have sound coming out of my AV system.

With is there a headset you could use with PC and Xbox One that would not require any extra attachments on the console itself. I want something that just ties into the controller's headset adapter for game audio and chat. I was viewing that many PC headsets with two cables, one for speakers and one for mic, could use a Y adapter so they could be plugged into Xbox One controller. So is there anything like that out there?

I just want this

to work, or have Microsoft release something similar. I don't need full sound to come from it - just chat and I don't want to be bothered with the terribly cheap headset they packaged with the Xbox One.

I am looking to purchase a Tritton 720+ 7.1 Surround Sound Headset. But I am afraid I will run into problems with the Xbox One headset adapter. Has anybody purchased third party headsets (not made for the Xbox One specifically) and used them with the Xbox One headset adapter? What was your experience like? Did you run into issues? Do you have anything good or bad to say about the Tritton headsets?

Does xbox one even output in surround yet? I'd get the ms official stereo headsets to me they are the best ones so far they're really well built and they are probably 150 dollars less.

These ones are only $150. I also still game on the PS4, PS3, and 360, so I'd like something that works on all 4 consoles. My understanding is that the surround sound is fine on the One with these headsets.
