Getting too old for this sh!t?

I also worked at Software Etc.. back in the 90s (mid). I guess I understand the time thing but that will come and go. Right now, I come home, eat dinner, open mail, talk to my wife for a few minutes and then I either workout at the gym for an hour or get right to the office to play videogames. LOL! If my favorite TV show is playing that day, then I watch that with the wife. My daughter is 14 and stays to herself now so no need to tend to her as if she was 5yrs old. The only time I really don't find time to play games is when my job is requiring me to implement something that I have to do heavy research on and it consumes me. But those times, come and go. The yard? Meh.. I hired someone to do that for me last year so I can free up more time. Swimming pool? Same thing.

I don't have any other hobbies other than TV, workout, and videogames so I don't really have many choices to choose from.

And yes, my wife complained alot about me playing videogames. But eventually, she realized that she only watches TV, or reads a book.. so what else is there to do during a work week? Now she either joins me with watching me play a very very small number of videogames (she watched me play through The Walking Dead: S2 this xmas), or I end up watching some TV with her.

I didn't get married until I was 37, was able to play a decent amount of games until that point. I'm in the same boat as the OP...house, two jobs, and a 7 month old baby all get in the way of playing games. I still sneak away and stay up late playing games as often as I can. Got a lot of s*** from the wife for buying the Xbox One while she was on maternity leave but she's partially gotten over it now.

Ouch, first kid at 37? I'm almost 35 and can't imagine having another one this late (my girl is 3 and my boy is 6). I'm already too tired, lol.

Thankfully, my wife came into the marriage knowing that I am a gamer. Even if it annoys her :D

I do have to wait till they are all in bed, usually, though. I also get comments about being "productive" on occasion as well, whatever that means. I do all kinds of extra work around the house -to include remodeling on a pretty extensive scale: just grouted the tile I put in the bathroom BY MYSELF! What's funny is when she complained when I asked her to to change the dirty water out for clean, when I was wiping the grout off.

To be fair, she didn't whine for the following two requests, lol.

Yeah, second kid is going to be even worse...will be 41 when it comes along, was 39 almost 40 for the first. Things changed for my gaming when we got engaged and she moved in with me. Before that I pretty much saw her on the weekends so during the week when I got home from work I would go to the gym, come home, make dinner and game until I went to bed. When she move in we were living in a one bedroom apartment with one TV so I had to wait for her to go to bed until I could play. She is a teacher, in the summer time she stays up late and isn't cool with my playing games while she is up.

I think I said it before, but TVs are cheap. Build yourself an office where you can play away from the main TV. That way she can watch TV while you game away. That's the only reason my wife hasn't strangled me in my sleep yet. :hehe:

Point out how much better it is to have you home, puttering around on the XBOX in your den, than getting into all sorts of mischief being oh so more mature, hanging out with the guys.

Don't see blue around much anymore. I guess he got too old for this sh*t.

I kept my gaming for when my ex was at work mostly, since we were passing ships in the night. However, if I were to game on our weekends, he would get sulky and pout, but it was perfectly OK for him to put on his football costume and watch that with his friends. Pfft.

Annnd I got the same 'productive' speeches.

Now I that I'm single, I'm definitely gambling more than ever. I'm so social with my businesses now, that I hate the idea of going out and talking more most of the time. And also a reason why I never play online games with mics.
