Go Vote 2020

I'm predicting a massive clusterf*** after the results are official. Honestly would temporarily go to kanada during the inevitable rioting that will ensue.

But... How does this work... He won last time... Do the people who vote for him shun other Trump voters?

This nonsense is literally ripping friends and family apart. Politics has always been contentious, but nothing like this. Back in 2012, I don't care how someone voted. I may not have even asked my wife how she voted back then. Even in 2016 I can accept it. Now though? This isn't a battle between political opinions, but a battle between fact and fiction.

I've had to turn away from Trumper friends. It makes me sick to see my parents buying all this Trump nonsense, mostly because I know they just are fed full of this "Democrats are evil" nonsense. It is to the point where I see a neighbor with a Trump sign and I can't even wave at them. I hate being that kind of person, but this is on Trump and his supporters, not me. They created this environment.

I've always voted, but I've never felt this nervous and excited at the same time.

I’ve seen a lot of people I know sharing that feeling proud and they are not welcome in our state. All those people should have been arrested.
I said it was wrong when the protest about the killing of a black man when they impeded traffic. This is on another level. This is dangerous. This is deadly. This should not be taken lightly. The FBI is investigating.

I'm thankful my parents couldn't stand Trump, I couldn't have taken it if they were Trumpists. One of my sisters is a huge Trumper and now a Qanoner its really terrible, but also not really unexpected to me though as she has narcisistic tendencies like Trump. Real problem is that she's tried to drag my other sister over to be a trumper like her but that thankfully didnt work.

My Dad and my brother (who are basically the same person) are huge Trumpers. The rest of my family isn't, but my stepmom probably already voted for him because she's a part of the scared people who watch Fox News. She's still terrified of the caravan that wasn't gonna come into the country like three years ago lol

I'm pretty sure my Dad still believes in the whole "trickle down economics" thing, plus is probably just pretty racist at this point so it all clicks for him. Fortunately he's not into the Q craziness, but he is just buying into all the Fox News propaganda that Democrats are going to raise taxes and destroy the economy nonsense.
My Mom is just so confused by "news" and "fake news" she honestly doesn't know which way is up. She's getting a whole bunch of anti-mask stuff in her head. I pretty much have to call her up each week and sort of remind her.

They don't do online stuff hardly at all, so it is all Fox News that they get it from.

the other issue I keep watching the Trump gang is going to declare victory before the count is finished so that way he can have his lawyers ready for battle and have people to shout that the election is over so they can go home because it doesn't matter.

Is this a tactic to win? Or is it how he creates a good ending to the show we've been living in and it might be affect the ratings? Sort of like how on some movie disc you can pick different endings?

Because..... he may on some level be that batsh:t or merely experiencing victory even if fake is something he wants?

Trump is a narcissist, there's no deep thought to him - he believes he will win, and if he doesn't, he believes he was cheated.

He's not even effectively campaigning at this point. Threatening to fire Fauci? Lashing out at Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi? He is insane. He is in battleground states, and he should be reassuring swing voters to vote for him, instead he's going full Trumper.

The question isn't what will Trump do - he'll claim victory. He could get 10 votes total and still claim victory. The question is - what will the people in the government, military and secret service do?

I started thinking this evening honestly the people I know IRL that are most of the Trump supporters in my area are all “look at me” and look down on other people themselves. Trump’s behavior let these people bring it out into the public like it’s ok. Seriously these last 4 years I have never seen people act and be like this. I don’t recognize this country anymore. It’s like we slipped into a Twilight Zone and COVID this year didn’t help.

I don't know what to make of it. The country has gone into some kind of hyper tribalism mode driven by emotional loyalties rather than substantive or nuanced discussion.

I kind of feel like there is a strange effect coming from the pervasive media environment. Only partly from the content, but just the way it's always there with 24hr Network News plus Social Media content as well as seriously flawed YouTube Influencers. The issue isn't just what is said, but that it's continuously said; people keep following the feed and not often stepping back from the media deluge to have some objectivity to contemplate or evaluate what is being said.

I also think we lack a modern Fairness Doctrine like tool to make it less easy to remain in a media echo chamber.

Polls open at 6am here, so I set my alarm for 6 and got there around 6:20 (figure to wait a bit after opening). Only a small line, but a lot of people in various districts. I was driving down the main road and there's 2 cars in front of me and 1 behind, and all pull into the polling place. Lots of cars in and out.

No drama and no real lines, but normally it would be very quiet this early. Just anecdotally I have to think that our turnout is going to be big. I'm in a heavy blue district already, so hopefully things are going to be similar all over.

Sadly, Biden can win a bazillion NY votes and it means nothing though. Voted Democrat across the board anyway to send anyone associated with Trump packing.

Anyway, get out and vote everyone who hasn't already. Votes do matter, that's why they spend so much money trying to win them, and so much time trying to suppress them.

Polls opened a 7AM here. Was in line at 6:45. Voted at 7:15. In my polling place, this was the first time I'd ever seen people at the polls before it opened and definitely the first time the line wrapped around the building.

Glad I did absentee vote. Let's get this going. I love going home at night and watching CNN and see the numbers come in and the colors change for each state.

I met a Haitian guy today in line. It was his first US presidential election. He was sad that, him, coming from a third world country, that businesses are board up because of an election. He said it shouldn't be like this. He also said now sees that him registering to vote is even more important now.
