I ran out of things to play on my 360, so I traded it in -- which was a little weird after being an Xbox only owner (more or less) for over a decade -- for a 40 gig refurbished PS3 for $180. It was in a bundle; it came with 5 games (GTA IV, Hitman, CoD Black Ops, Infamous 2, and another one). The bill was about $75. Not too bad. I'm not ready to make the jump to next gen quite yet, so my plan is to play the PS3 in the interim.

I'm looking forward to playing ...

PS3 games:
- Beyond: Two Souls
- Resistance series
- Killzone series
- Ratchet & Clank (Quest for Booty, Crack in Time)
- Uncharted series
- Wipeout HD
- The Last of Us
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Infamous series

HD Remasters:
- Shadow of Colossus
- Ratchet and Clank (3)
- Sly Collection (3)
- Jak and Daxter Collection (3)
- FFX HD remaster
- Okami HD

PS1/2 classics:
- Syphon Filter: Omega Strain

That should keep me busy for a while. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I'm going to pick up a PS+ membership eventually.

Anderson, I assume you have additional HDDs in mind because 40gb won't get you far.

Nah, it'll get me where I need to go. I only play one game at a time, don't game all that much, don't download much, and only plan on keeping the system a year. I knew the 12 gig model wouldn't be enough, but I think the 40 will. I never got much past that level on the 360, even though I owned it 8 years.

Before you play Beyond play Heavy rain. Also, check out Motorstorm 2 & 3. Motorstorm 2 IMO is the best arcade racer of last gen.

You'ree in for one helleva ride. It'll be interesting to hear your impressions on some of the games. I have a feeling that The Last of us will be your favorite especially if you're into a good story.

Enjoy PS3! I love PS3 games. Definitely go for PS+! A lot of nice free stuffs you can get with that membership!

Thanks, I'll check out Motorstorm. I did play Heavy Rain, back when I owned a PS3 briefly for a few months. That was about 3 or 4 years ago. I owned it long enough to play 3 games -- the first Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction, and Heavy Rain. Then I sold it back to the store, at a big loss, because I was spending too much time playing games, and I thought I should own just 1 console, not 2.

I remember trying to use the Move controller with Heavy Rain. What a chore that was. I'm just trying to open a friggin door! Gar. No Move this time around.

Yeah, I have a good feeling about that game, from what I've heard. Strong storytelling is definitely something that hooks me in games.

You've never had a PS3 Anderson? You're in for a treat. Welcome to gaming heaven. Some of those PS3 exclusives are the best of the best.

Not sure how they cost, but for some mindless shooter fun, check out Dead Nation and Commando Crashers (I think that's the name).... it's a weird 2D/pseudo 3D PSN shooter. Two fun games I play at my bro's place when I can.

Pretty much what everyone else said in the thread. Get the PS+ membership ASAP, Brothers is still free I think along with Metro: Last Light, Pay Day 2 and Remember Me is coming out soon this month.

What's your PSN handle mang?

I don't have one yet. I actually don't have the console in my possession at this moment. It's being shipped to me. I traded in my 360 in the store, but the bundle I got has to be shipped to me, so I'm going to be without a console for a week or so. I'll post my GT when I get registered, though.

Yeah, everything I hear about PS+ is positive. My only issue is the 40 gigs and the fact that I have such a sudden backlog of games I want to play, have been waiting to play ... I can't see myself turning away from those to play, for instance, Remember Me. I could download a bunch of games while I'm working through my backlog, but I play games pretty slowly, so it might be a long while before I get through...and I've only got 40 gigs of storage. Anyway, long story short, I think I'll wait on PS+ for a bit, until I've worked my way through a bunch of the top-tier games I'm really wanting to play.

You don't need to download all the IGC titles from PS+ all at once, you can just process the games into your account first and put them on your download list so you can download whenever you want to. This way, you'll still have access to the titles as long as you're a PS+ member. People without a PS4 have been processing all the free PS+ titles that way into their accounts before they even get a PS4 so they can just download all at once when they get it.

Congrats Anderson. I know you've been wanting one for awhile. Great deal you got there too.

I want a PS3 bad for the Last of Us. I actually also have a lot of PSN downloads that got lost when my PS3 bit the dust.

Oh, thanks, I didn't realize you could do that. I figured you had to download them while they were available. I suppose I should get PS+ right away then.

I just got a PS3 about two months ago. I'll be busy for a long time with PS+ and all the bargain (older) games I can find on the cheap. It's awesome and makes the wait for my PS4 much easier.

Yeah on the PS4 games you have the use Sonys online store to get them. They don't show on the ps3 store at least I don't think they do. I've just been adding them to my account with the online store.

I don't have a PS3 but I'm going to pick one up later this year, I started picking up the free games from PS+ so I can D/L them when I do get the system.

Bought Uncharted 2, the Ratchet & Clank collection, the Jak & Daxter collection, and the Ico/Shadow of Colossus collection. Paid about $4 per game on average, plus shipping. I picked some HD remasters of PS2 games to start with, because R & C and J & D have a "fun factor" that I miss in modern games. I'm not really feeling like Resistance or Killzone at this point, but we'll see. I'll get Infamous 2 in the bundle, so I'll see what that series is like.

I forgot to list Journey. I'd like to play that, too. The Unfinished Swan sounded interesting, too, if a bit artsy.

Just a month too late for Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. They were both free up till January 2014. Oh well, I know you'll enjoy them either way.

Oh well, I'm sure that PS+, at some point, must've offered most of the games I will buy. I can't complain. Getting games of this caliber for $5 to $10 is great. It's one of the things I love about buying a console late in the lifecycle. Not only is the console cheap, but you get some great deals on games.

.. Looking at my avatar, you can see I'm a huge Journey-fan, I think it is one of the defining games this generation, wich you should play asap, when you got two-three hours available.. :)
But get online first - it's a even better experience when you play with someone, and if you come across someone playfull. :)
I don't normally like coop - but Journey did it great. :p I've played through it a dozen times myself. :)

Valkyria Chronicles is also a game I reccomend if you're into strategy and it actually also have a great story.. :)
