Got me a PS3

.. Looking at my avatar, you can see I'm a huge Journey-fan, I think it is one of the defining games this generation, wich you should play asap, when you got two-three hours available.. :)
But get online first - it's a even better experience when you play with someone, and if you come across someone playfull. :)
I don't normally like coop - but Journey did it great. :p I've played through it a dozen times myself. :)

Valkyria Chronicles is also a game I reccomend if you're into strategy and it actually also have a great story.. :)

Thanks, Kong. Journey is definitely on my list. Hopefully some people are still playing it online. I'll check out Valkyria Chronicles, too.

I've had Journey for over a year and still haven't tried it. I should probably get on that.

The hell is wrong with you. It's amazing.

I bought the Flow/Flower/Journey physical copy thing on Amazon last Christmas for a friend, because I thought he hadn't played Journey. He had. So I just kept it. I actually forgot I had it until this thread.

Ni No Kuni & Tales of Vesperia - for the best JRPG's
Valkyria Chronicles - if you like strategy rpgs
GT6 - probably the best sim racer on any console
Flower - therapeutic
Sound Shapes - awesome platformer / rhythm game hybrid
Demon's Souls - daunting, but classic
Puppeteer - tragically overlooked little gem

Thanks, Jester, I'll check those out.

Tales of Vesperia. There's a PS3 version? Thought it was 360 exclusive.

I had to check to see if this was a thread necro-bump from 2006.

Yeah, I'm jumping head first into last gen (and the gen before that).

Puppeteer is another game I didn't get to play before my PS3 died. I'm hoping for a Vita version at some point.

Same here. I even passed when it was 7 bucks on PSN. My backlog is too great as it is, and it is strange: I shouldn't feel bad about not spending 7 dollars, but I did. Damn videogames, making me feel real guilt about not buying them.

Ok, my console arrived, and I have it hooked up. I'm Anderson_525 if you want to add me. I've got some free pack-in games I can play if I get bored, but I've got better stuff on the way, so I'll just wait.

It was a kick to see Syphon Filter listed under the classics. I'm going to have to replay that some day.

Sent a FR too. Did you get PS+ yet? Start adding those free games into your account !

Yeah, I want to leave a game like that for later. I'm going to start with the older games (like the Ratchet & Clank remakes), then work my way forward. I'm sure I'll skip around a little, but I don't want to hit the peak too early.

sent you a friend request, anderson. interested to here your thoughts on some of the exclusives (i'm still geting through them myself). and play the last of us when youre really feeling in a mode for narrative, savour that experience, it is an awesome game.

All right guys, I need your advice. Sorry to hijack your thread Anderson, but I didn't think I should start a new thread.

I made the mistake of getting the 12GB PS3 (I know, dumb) so obviously I need an HDD fast. What is a good cheap option for replaceable hard drives?

Here is an amazon page on replacing it and drives they suggested- http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/syltguides/fullview/R3J292OYJK7HAF

Really just about any laptop hard drive 2.5" and less than 9.5mm should work if its SATA.

Its really easy to swap these out. The PS4 is even a bit easier then the PS3. I bought a new HD for my PS4, and put the PS4 HD in my PS3.

Thanks mane. You think Bestbuy should have something like that?

It would be nice to just walk in and get it.

I know you said you're going to wait, but play last of us now! Can't say enough good things about it. Naughty dogs are the master at story telling games.
Then play uncharted 2 and 3, since you said you played 1 already. It's probably the best movie type series ever. It really feels like you're playing an epic action movie and the set pieces are amazing!
God of War 3 is amazing too. Though I dunno if you played 1 and 2 and since the story is a trilogy it would be best to play 1 and 2 first if you want to know what's going on.

Nah, I'm with Anderson, he should save The Last of Us for later. That's definitely what I plan on doing as well when I get my PS3.

In fact, I actually plan on playing all my PS3 games in the order of their release-dates, as I feel that I'll develop a greater appreciation for them if I experience them in a more historical or chronological context, if ya know what I mean. Like, as a very easy example, I certainly wouldn't want to play The Last of Us before playing Uncharted 1, because doing so would make UC1 seem much less impressive afterwards.

Then again, there's always the possibility that I'm just a crazy son of a b*tch :tounge:

The first game on my PS3 'to play' list (considering chronology) is Resistance: Fall of Man :txbcool:

I agree with you, Ryubusa. I don't want to set the bar too high, then feel like I'm going backwards in terms of sophistication and production quality. I'm actually beginning with PS2 HD remakes, which are really good games in themselves. Speaking of Naughty Dog, I got Jak & Daxter in the mail yesterday, and that's where I'll start my Naughty Dog games. For now I'm working on Insomniac's early work, the first Ratchet & Clank. Lot of fun.

I probably won't stick to chronological order strictly, but it feels right for now.
