I love the HL universe, but have zero interest in VR right now. Some of it looks kinda cool, but it's not the way I would want to play.

Game launches in March. I just wish that there was a console version on the horizon. I'm trying to decide if I should just build a gaming PC now or wait and see what shakes out. I think that PSVR2 is probably not going to make it until at least 2021, and Microsoft is out to lunch, so no current non-PC option.

I just noticed that the official announcement trailer for HLA has almost reached 10M views... or in other words, 2X the amount of PSVRs sold. This game will definitely be a hardware seller, for sure. Cool that they don't care what headset you use.👍

It plays like a regular game though with analogs sticks. You can use teleportation but f*** that.

I hope it comes to PSVR 2 fairly quickly as that will probably be my VR device of choice.
Assuming PSVR2 comes out by 2021? I kinda doubt it will launch w/ PS5, or do you think it will? It kinda sucks that you NEED a PC for this game, but I guess that's how it goes.

Well, I mean Half Life was originally a PC franchise...what's that term that Sony fanboys love to cream their pants over?....oh yea.. EXCLUSIVES.

True on both. They were always behind when releasing on console, and seemed like Xbox got the ports first because it was probably easier to port back then. Valve loves to aim for higher than console specs, but the next gen is like 7 months away, and can finally get there in a reasonable time. Seems a shame to not finally release on console the same year, but if Sony doesn't launch new VR, what's the point? The Moves and 1080p screen probably won't do the game justice. I'd personally get PS5 just for this game, but only if it a) launched with PSVR2 or b) was playable with PSVR now, but upgradable with PSVR2 at launch of that platform. These are the kind of answers that E3 is for! Personally, I feel that the company that is skipping E3 needs E3 the most.

Seems like everyone agrees that this is the best VR title ever made. It's Valve, so I am not surprised. Valve once again setting the standard on another platform.

I wish it was compatible with Oculus Quest running on its own, but it seems like it is too demanding to run solely off the Quest processor - you still need a decent gaming PC to do the heavy lifting.

Yeah, I agree with that. It's just too bad that neither of the new consoles have it confirmed for launch either.

On the bright side, my Quest is shipping tomorrow. Finally! HLA will have to wait though.

No spoilers, but as a Half Life fan that ending was incredible. It blew my f***ing mind and made me care about Alyx more than I ever thought I would.

Gameplay, atmosphere was 10/10. They f***ing nailed it, but this should not exist on such a small platform like PCVR. At least big it to PS5 PSVR. I understand Valve's stance, but this needs to be played by everyone who likes Half Life. It shocks me that this even exists and it's this good. 97% rating on Steam currently.

Give it 1-1.5 years... I believe that we'll see it on one, if not both new consoles by the 21 holiday season. I actually think that PSVR2 and probably XSX-enabled VR HMD(s) will be released by then. I think that Valve knows that this game needs an audience, and I think that the console makers know that they need this game if they want to push VR.

Replying to my own comment here because that Xbox thing may still be scoffed at, but Microsoft is obviously not done with VR. There is a new headset collaboration between HP/Microsoft/Valve for the follow-up to Reverb (already had 4K vertical res per eye) that is also advertising Steam support, and they are claiming "it's the new standard" in VR. It's possibly not even Xbox related either, but everyone keeps saying MS is done with VR, which obviously isn't true. I also think that it's pretty NOTABLE here that Valve and Microsoft are partnering on a headset.

I'll get HLA eventually, whether it's available on next gen or I finally get a PC that can handle it.

Any fans of Half Life 2, I definitely recommend Garysmod before you play this if you want to play it VR. Its transformative and brought one of my all time favorites to life. The scale of that world in VR is mind blogging.
