Half way through the year, what's your GOTY?

I don't have a GOTY yet but my absolute hands down favorite game this year so far is Dark Souls 2.

Don't have one.

Saints Row IV is the best game I've played this year.

so many good games, but based on time spent playing... Watchdogs is my game of the year so far and it will probably stay that way until Halo/GTA arrive.

Games I bought this year are either yesteryears hit like Far Cry 3, BatMan Arkham City, Memoria, Brothers, or extension of previous year games like Reaper of souls & Broken Sword 5 part 2.

Every time I think about getting a shiny console or a 2014 game, I looked at the ratings, & went ahead to buy much acclaimed hit of yesteryear at bargain prices.

My top games of 2014

1) Mario Kart 8 -I've only had the game 3 days, so opinion my change, but I'm loving it right now
2) Wolfenstein New Order (PC)- The game was much better than reviews lead me to believe
3)Watchdogs (PC)- I enjoyed it, but I was just expecting something more I think
4)Titanfall (PC)- I actually took a week off work for the release.

I just realized I've played more PS3 games this year than PS4 games. Darn thing is just my wife's Netflix and Bluray player right now.

Don't have a GOTY yet. Most of the big games don't drop until Oct. But of what I have played, Divinity: Original Sin is scratching the old school RPG itch. Its hard and made me realize how much I've grown reliant on hand holding in my rpgs.

How does it compare to say Diablo 3. I am thinking of picking this up in the future.

Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition! Sure, it came out last year but I just got a chance to play it now thanks to Games With Gold. Great game. One of the best I've played in years. It's one of the truest throwback games to the 2D era. It's such a throwback it's massively controller throwing inducing. I like the way it pays homage to the classics as well.

Its hard to compare IMO. Original Sin is turn based as Diablo is not. Original sin is highly story based whereas Diablo is not. I wish it had a demo so people could try it out. You're either going to love it or hate it.

Wolfenstein for me. The story was well written and the end song hit me in the feels. Overall it is a solid game.

I've been lucky enough to play a crap ton of the games that have come out so far this year and choosing a GotY so far is a tough choice! I'd have to go with Infamous: Second Son if forced to choose one though. To me it was the first example of what a true next gen game could look like without having to keep the other dinosaur consoles happy. Not only that it was fun to play, it was scripted and acted well. So many positives.

Honorable mentions would go to a lot of games like Child of Light, Wolfenstein, Transistor, Valiant Hearts....

It'll be a hell of a challenge to pick a best for 2014 with all the huge releases coming in the fall! Destiny, Sunset Overdrive, The Crew, AC Unity, Dragon Age Inquisition, Far Cry 4, LBP3, Evolve, The Master Chief Collection *sigh* BYE MONEY!!!

I really have to give Wolfenstein some time.

For me, based on time spent playing- Watch_Dogs takes my personal GotHY.

Next would be TitanFall, I guess. I would like to get Sniper Elite and Wolfenstein.

South Park: The Stick Of Truth

Some notables:
The Walking Dead: Season Two and The Wolf Among Us. I picked these up on sale and been going through them. They still have some episodes left, so I think they still belong to this year.

Gameplay and storytelling goes a long way with me. I know many don't think the Telltale titles have that much gameplay. For me, the story makes up for much of that.

PREACH!! I'm a huge fan of Telltale. Just got the early access code for the last episode of Wolf too so I can have my review up tomorrow when it hits.

I managed to get a really good look at Telltale's 'Tales from the Borderlands' at E3 too. I put together a preview article for it. Let me know if you're interested and I can send you the link... don't want to get too spammy on here right away, haha.

Yeah...shoot me the link. Sounds good.

For this year so far, no question Titanfall.

Really have to get on with The Wolf Among Us. I loved TWD and I have purposely held out on The Wolf Among Us, but I think I am ready.

The only full game I've bought this year is Titanfall, and it isn't my GOTY for sure unfortunately.
