Halo 5

I tired playing it yesterday but I really wasn't feeling it. I didn't even finish the first mission.

I can understand that. I was feeling franchise fatigue at first as well. I didn't play Halo 4 so I have no idea who these new enemies are when I started playing. I need to go play 4.

343 is in a tough spot because if they change too much fans will get upset. But Halo has been a MP game for a long time now so they've lost me. Unfortunately that's another exclusive I no longer care about for MS.

I just read that the free trial for Halo 5 has been extended by a day to July 6th! I think it was due to technical difficulties the first day of the trial.

I'm starting to warm up to the campaign. I'm having fun but I'm afraid it will be over soon. Also, I know it's been said before but no couch co-op makes me sad. I'd love to play through this with my son. I'm sure the stats say that hardly anyone plays local co-op anymore so they didn't put it in the game.

I tried Firefight because I love horde mode and it is tough as balls! I'm not a MP person. I'm too old and don't have enough time to play MP competitively. (Guess I'll go play Reach)

I'm just trying to determine price point for this game and if I'd ever touch it again after finishing SP. does anyone else feel that way?
What difficulty are you playing on? Anything less than Heroic is bound to be boring. The AI shines on higher difficulties. Throw some skulls on and nothing can touch it this side of Doom, imo, though Halo is tougher.

Yeah, I pretty much play the Halo games on Heroic, because I'm nowhere near good enough for Legendary and Normal gets dull, while Heroic has a few encounters that cause me to hit a wall for a little while but nothing I can't eventually figure out.

Got through the game finally the other night, but I think that it went on a mission longer than it felt like it should have - I was expecting to see credits start rolling, and instead it's one more string of battles to go.

It doesn't feel as fun as the original Bungie Halo games, but it did seem better gameplay wise than 4, with the exception of the whole squad/knockout/revive mechanic. That was awful, although it was also useful because I just had to worry about staying alive and eventually the "dead' teammates would miraculously revive behind me at some point, so the really difficult battles I could at least go bunker up for some. That was kind of silly, but the part I really disliked about it is that it seemed like 343 fixed some of the stuff about 4 that was awful, and then added the squad stuff and realized it would be too easy, so they just flooded the screen with a ton of enemies or the stupid Warden rather than make them smarter or otherwise more challenging.

I liked the squad stuff for the most part. As long as you direct them to areas to help distract and flank the baddies. If used right, it's very useful. You also have to understand that if you call for help, they come and try regardless of danger to themselves. They will revive you without it, but they prioritize enemy danger (as would actually happen, though I'd like to see them suppress enemies while reviving, but that would make it too easy), but usually they can't save you fast enough.

I know they wanted to make it all 4 player co-op, but I would like to see more solo experiences (like previous Halo games) with the Magical Spartan appearing for Co-op.

Makes sense. Best since Halo 3. Been playing a bunch this past week. So much great content. Maps are actually quite good too.

I'm getting back into the game too. Firefight is fun, and I'm trying to get back into the old modes.

still play it every chance I get....don't know if I stuck with any other Halo game as consistently as I have with this one....maybe I burned out on the others earlier because I had more time to play back then. One thing is for certain, there is no going back for me...the increased mobility in Halo 5 makes playing the others unenjoyable for me now. Tried popping in Halo MCC and was going to play through Halo 4 on Legendary because it was the only one I hadn't finished on that level...couldnt' get passed the first level because all I wanted to do was boost and clamber.

Get that Helioskrill armour man!

60fps and dedicated servers = win. I am pretty much done with games that can't provide both of those.

Test and play with friends? I love it! I wonder if you will be required to login in order to use the tools. You know, to make sure you aren't using the power of PC to modify it into its own monstrosity.

Yes, you will be required to be logged in to your Xbox LIVE account.

FORGE is an online-mode. Maps are not built offline on local clients, they're built in the cloud to ensure secure/trusted editing, and therefore the ability to share with Xbox One's.

Typical Microsoft. They do something cool then put limitations on it.

I can't go into details, but I will say that (since Windows 10 released) the consumers benefits and experiences have been at the very forefront of every decision behind anything related to getting Halo onto PC's.

Ideally I would like to have MCC on PC with a server browser but meh what can you do?
