A campaign trailer cutting together the most polished gameplay segments isn't a bad strategy.

Reminder: vertical slices are never where the game actually is in development. AAA devs will tell you these games get glued back together in the final 6 months of development. Everything before that is fake.

Nobody questions whether it takes development time and yeah I am fine with a trailer because its what they should have done last year but give me a break the biggest games getting big showings at the biggest show is not exactly a strange idea. It is what happens. I am saying show it off in a meaningful way. Meaningful doesn't have to be a 45 minute demo.

The expectation is for Halo to have great campaign and great multiplayer. I am sure certain people will hand wave one of the two away as not important if one of them ends up disappointing but that is the reality.

Halo fans want both. No tempered expectations. There is some disappointment coming from media who are wanted Halo to be something more than another Halo. They wanted it to knock their socks off. It won't. 343 prioritized Halo fans over winning over everyone else. I'm very happy with it. The sandbox in the campaign was the focus. The music is the best it's been since Marty (as you could find a lot of leaked music online). The multiplayer will be massive and keep evolving.

It won't look as good as Horizon FW. Developers prioritized different things.

Yeah but a lot of that just sounds like preemptive excuses. If they make a Halo game for existing Halo fans and they love it then they have succeeded but nothing that has happened in the past 10 years or past 1 year gives me any confidence.

Yeah I expected maybe 5 minutes of each mode.

Guessing it's going to be a similar set up to Crackdown 3's SP/MP app
 
Bullet points;

MP gameplay looks better than I expect. Halo MP never really intric me, but it looks like I can give it a shot.

SP Gameplay:
I am shocked no gameplay is shown to shut the critics about the visuals, consider that was supposed to be the main reason for the delay. The cutscene does absolutely nothing except we saw a "covered up Cortana" clone. I doubt anyone on the fence on whether to get Halo or not was convinced to get the game after watching the cutscene. If I wanted to convince someone to get Halo, I will not bother to show the cutscene. what are they thinking? It doesn't give me confidence on SP.

I've gotta say, I've watched this multi-player vid a couple of times, and I never thought it would look THIS good! 343i and Co were firing on all cylinders during the past year.
