Or at least they tried...

Due to sub-zero temperatures this week, we've had multiple pipes bust. Some were in the bathroom downstairs which caused it to fill with 2 inches of water all the way across.

Then, later a pipe busted in the basement causing water to build up in there. Luckily, it's not a finished basement, and the water mostly drained out.

There were tons of others in the area who had busted pipes including the city itself. Several streets were closed for a while.

After I had a guy down the street help me fix the pipes, and I finally got to turn the water back on, there was a big chemical leak in the area, so my tap water is now poisonous. I can't take a shower, wash my hands, drink it, or cook with it. Nice.

Apparently this chemical leak affects 9 counties in West Virginia, which is a pretty big area actually. I have no idea when this will be fixed, but they better get on the move. Oh, and it affects every building that gets tap water, so yeah, that's bad.

Well, at least the temperatures are back to normal for a while.

I saw this on the news here and it sounds like a really bad situation.

I don't know all the details, but if they're really telling people to not even wash their clothes with the water, I can't see that being something that can be rectified anytime soon. I know I wouldn't want to drink it for quite a while if it's not even good enough to clean a shirt!

Water is pretty abundant when no one is worried about it, hopefully they can import a lot of safe water from near by as soon as possible as I imagine containers of water is sold out where you live.

They are supposed to be giving out water here and there, but I figure it's a mess. And even still, it's no fun using bottled water to do things I used to do with a sink.

Sheesh, what a mess. I've been worried about the same thing happening here, but fortunately it did not. There but for the grace of Mother Nature go I. I'm sure it's a really disruptive pain in the ass.

On the upside, I like your avatar. Sing with me: "In the not too distant future, our house will be a drier place... la la la"

Ironically, during Christmas I bought another MST3k boxset. One of the episodes is called The Day the Earth Froze.

West Virginia has running water???

lol. i keed. Sorry man, I hope you get potable water soon.

No, I don't have any kids, but this does affect nearby schools and hospitals.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of not washing my hands properly. I may just give it a shot. I've heard other people doing it. I'm still not drinking it or cooking with it though...

And now it's back in the 50's....

Sometimes I don't know why winter bothers. One day it's 6 degrees, the next day it's 50...

Yeah. You're ice age gave us ridiculous storms. Now it's calmed down here because it's calmed down there. Sorry for the complete lack of eloquence, I'm definitely drunk..and British..fyi.

Oh, I'll be drunk in about an hour or two. I've got a large bottle of wine, some blueberries, and a bag of chips. I'm all set.

It really is crazy. Here we went from about -30 (wind chill) to up in the 50s within a couple days. That's close to an 80 degree jump!
