I'm working through Grounded Mode and I definitely do more running than fighting. It's really more frustrating than fun, but I'm going to see it through.

There are some scenes in this game i think top infamous SS visually. Its hit or miss though.

The character models are up there with the best. Animation and facial reactions are better than almost anything else out there. But the environments are only ok imo.

I mean there are a few really nice looking areas and then some average looking areas.

Textures are not up to next gen standards imo. The rusted out cars look particularly bad. But the water and rain effects are amongst the best.

But as a whole it looks really amazing because of the detail on the main characters and the overall art direction.

No it's not locked 60fps. It runs at 60fps with occasional drops. but you have the option of locking it at 30 fps. Just like with infamous second son.
Fps drops on a last gen game lol, if this was on xbox it wouldn't have any problem being 60fps locked especially with DX12 ;-)

With ND at the helm, who knows what they could pull off on the X1 or even the 360.

We'll never know. But it's fun to think about.

The game looks great but it also looks like a remaster of a last gen game not a game that was built for the PS4. Also those of you saying "oh it's a last gen game, I bet xbox could do it" I know most of you are kidding but keep in mind Halo 2's campaign in the MCC isn't even 1080p.

I was just sticking it back to Jaydee lol, but anyway H2 res is due to it being so old and textures being lower res. (on PC max resolution was <900p also)
Anyway I'm out of here enjoy ur game :-D

Oh I know you weren't serious ;) but there have been some people saying "oh it's a last gen game so it should automatically be 1080p and a solid 60 fps" not understanding that there is more to it than that.

Seems like porting last gen games designed for last gen consoles and last gen engines would NOT take advantage of the all new systems we have today. If I were to be honest here, I bet these "ports" are actually a lot more work that we would imagine, and we should probably be impressed that they even brought them over the way they did. This is all new architecture.

Haven't been able to play in a week. Busy with being a productive person, I guess. I am just about to finish Summer. Forgot how satisfying getting a headshot with that scoped hunter rifle is.

Nice:

We've just pushed a live update that should improve matchmaking times. While this is a not a full fix, our update should hopefully reduce matchmaking times. We are still working on a patch which should dramatically improve matchmaking times and we'll get into more detail about that a bit later. Also, in this live update is a fix to the Flamethrower damage. The PS4 Flamethrower should now output damage at the same speed as the PS3 Flamethrower.

Please back out of Factions and re-enter and you should be on version 1.01.012. Also, if you could describe your matchmaking times here it would greatly help us determine how our changes are doing. Thank you!

About 10 hours in, checking every nook n cranny, at the Hotel right now.
Game continues to amaze me in the graphical dept, and so many little touches and that make the game come to life.
A couple of times I was slightly jarred, coming out the menus and feeling the game running at 60fps; soo good.

Whoa, that's news to me. What res is it going to be running in? I thought everything ran @ 1080p/60 for Halo MCC.

Watch, suddenly not able to reach 1080p/60 is okay from some xbox fans because it's a "old/last-gen" game.

Actually found a area in the hotel that i hadnt seen before, i must have always missed it. Lead to a conversation with ellie i hadnt seen before. I am trying to find all the collectibles and get all the conversations this playthrough although i think i might have missed a map when you go through the turnstiles of the pittsburgh quarantine zone.

From Frankie (head of 343 that posted on Gaf:

1. All MP will be 1080p, 60fps, including H2 and H2 anniversary.
2. There's a chance that H2 Anniversary campaign could run at a different resolution to accommodate the second frame buffer. But the intent is to overcome that hurdle.
3. The H2 Anniversary graphics are from relatively early WIP.
4. We'll keep showing progress throughout the year using a process we call "game development."
5. This or its opposite will still make certain posters mad, because they're already mad and are looking for things to confirm that rage.

Apparently running the tandem engines is causing problems. They said they are working on it.

Yet. Still, it's running two engines (that switch instantly) and far more updated graphics (though I think they said it was the Halo 4 engine), so it's hardly just a resolution bump.

TLOU isn't just a resolution bump either, textures, lighting, higher res models, higher frame rate etc. This isn't meant as any kind of excuse but I'm willing to bet MS has a much larger team working on Halo 2 and are spending more money than Sony was able to with TLOU and they probably had more time to work on the project as well.

I don't want to derail the thread and I shouldn't even bring this up again because it's not about Halo but why do they bother with the switching back and forth? who wants to go back to the old ugly version? it just seems like a waste of time to me.

Noticing some bugs, I guess. A lot of pop-in and not the best draw distance here, but the 60 fps makes up for it, honestly.

The dog days of summer are here, when I slowly realize that I will be broke up until next summer, lol.
I'll have to make this last for some time. Between this, Mario Kart 8, finishing Watch Dogs, and going through Ryse one more time (have a desire to since hearing the talk about it), I should be good until Christmas and the fall releases.

The switching back and forth is for nostalgia. I think it's a cool feature.

But you do have to wonder if they didn't have to fit everything in that framework from 10 years ago, how much better they could have made the visuals.

That's what I mean, by including that feature it has to be holding something else back.

I can see both sides here. I know it was fun to do it in Halo anniversary, and there were a number of times I used it throughout the game. Its fan service and I can appreciate it, especially as a reminder of what it was like in the old days, and that's kinda the point.

If it ends up running 900p, I'll be just fine.

Back on topic, I've been watching playthroughs again( watched them on the PS3 version too). Love the characters and world even if it does seem like a great episode of Walking Dead sometimes. Actually, that's a true compliment!

I know while playing the game I kept thinking to myself "this is how a Walking Dead game should be"
