Yeah, it's inevitable. Too much potential profit, with relatively low resource expenditure. It's just a matter of when.

I'm guessing they want to wait a while before getting underway. Andromeda's death rattle is still in the air, and you want to let that fade in memory a bit, before going back to the original trilogy.

Ideally, a remastered trilogy would come out a year before the next game in the series. It would be a way to remind them of what the ME series is all about.

That was before Andromeda bombed. I think it happens at some point to help drum up interest for Mass Effect 4.

It's going to be many years before that happens if at all. The ending put then in the Andromeda situation.

I think you're both correct. I think with Andromeda not performing up to their expectations, we will see a Mass Effect trilogy remaster. However, with Anthem and the next Dragon Age on their plate, its going to be a while, maybe a whole console generation of time. I do expect when mass effect comes off ice, for the trilogy remaster to lead the way / drum up interest for a new mass effect project.

Mass Effect 4 is going to be a M'transaction-filled multiplayer only shooter that loosely tells the story of the Geth-Quarian war, except without any of that adrenaline-breaking story nonsense.

Only way ME comes off ice is if Anthem fails.

IMO, ME is simply dead now.

Just finished andromeda and enjoyed it for the most part. It just feels like it could've been more fleshed out you can definitely feel it was rushed but really hope they don't give up on the franchise just yet.

"I've seen people literally spend $15,000 on Mass Effect multiplayer cards"
Former BioWare dev speaks out against EA's monetisation of games

And those people, are morons. Full Stop. Unless they are billionaires, I guess. Nah, still morons. If you spend 15,000 dollars on multiplayer cards, that is alll you. Self-control is a thing....

I also find it weird that a statement like this make people think that they are killing single player :

"It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design. We are shifting the game to be a broader experience that allows for more variety and player agency..."

Man, I hate player agency and variety. I sure wish they'd stop that just to keep micro-transactions as far from me as possible....

Edit: Should have posted this in the EA Killing Single Player thread, lol...

It sound like sarcasm from you, so...

1. They are killing single player, you only need to open your eyes to see it. Look at games...look how franchises have changed since they included it those games. It couldn't be anymore obvious or in your face.

2. Broader experience = dumbdowned shallow experience and less variety. It is a very ironic sentence.

3. When did variety = M'transactions? What sort of dumbass logic is that.

The very last sentence (before the edit) was indeed sarcasm. The rest was not sarcasm. I am not 100% sure how you are interpreting my post, so-

1. Are they? Maybe Single player only. Hyperbole. Hell, EA (Respawn) added a (great)Single Player Campaign for Titanfall 2. Shutting down Visceral doesn't mean anything given how little we actually know. Respawn is working on a Single player Star Wars action adventure. EA (DICE) added a Single Player Campaign to Battlefront 2. What evidence have you? MTs don't = killing SP

2. Uh, What? I am commenting on people's interpretation of EA's statement about redirecting the focus of the game as meaning they are killing SP and adding MTs, when the Quote from EA says Neither. I do expect MTs, but I don't know...

3. When did I say this? You are not applying any logic at all, much less of the dumbass variety.

I am vastly annoyed by the "sky is falling" group-think going on in, well, everything nowadays...

Edit: I have edited my post to better reflect what I was trying to say...

1. Why did they do that?????? It couldn't have anything to do with the backlash TF1 got, could it??? No, No, No, they did it cause they is your bestest friend. lol.

Using reactions to an abundance of backlash really doesn't help you at all.

2. LMFAO! How deep is your head in that sand.

3. In your sarcastic sentence. lol. Your edit says the exact same thing. LMAO!

The sky is falling, it has been falling for a while. Not surprised you haven't noticed given how much you defend it, though.

Okay dude, lol. I didn't change the sarcastic sentence. I just clarified the bit above the comment to separate the content. I was trying to give you some benefit of the doubt as I wasn't sure how you were interpreting what I said given how raving you seem to be on this topic.

My head isn't in the sand. I am just asking why and trying not to overlay my uninformed preconceptions to the issue. You obviously are not doing that. The comment about developers actually reacting to the Market and the consumers is very relevant. As I said, they are trying to give gamers what they think they want. It certainly demonstrates that they aren't "killing" single player games. It has nothing to do with me thinking these companies are my friends, lol.

The sky is not falling. You are being overly emotional.

Started re playing this and they have greatly improved the character faces and on the X the loading times are less than 10 seconds.

Sucks that they scrapped the 4k update for the console and the Quarians dlc but it was recently revealed the games only shipped 2M.

Hmmm. Now that is curious. Now bear with me as this is amateur game industry analyst math but if they shipped 2M ( going to use shipped as sold for this instance) at $60 USD each that's $120 million USD in revenue. The game was given a total budget of C$100 million (which equals out to ~$80.7 M USD), which included marketing and research costs. So in theory they should have been able to easily make a profit off the game. But if the majority of those sales came later when the price was drastically reduced, I could see why they were hesitant to continue with the series. Then again EA themselves said the game was a financial success ( guessing multiplayer micro transactions saved them a bit) so I'm failing to see why the game was put on ice, beside just making room for Anthem.

That can't be right can it? I know it disappointed but was still up there in sales ranks. That has to be way low.

Apparently came from a recent EA conference call. Doesn't include digital of course but does seem odd as it was in the best sellers for npd last year as well as other countries.

But looking around the web last year EA said their digital net sales were $681 million back in July largely thanks to this so that number can't be right?
