GENRE : 3rd person, open-world, action RPG
SETTING / STORY: Medieval fantasy, all the geography types you love to see. Snow peaked mountains, deep dark forests, rolling meadows and arid deserts. NOT a story where the hero single-handely saves the world or is the one person who happens to be capable of making preventing a universal catastrophe. A dark(ish) tone but not exclusively grim and serious.
MAIN CHARACTER: Player created, fully voiced, fluid class system with the core pillars of the setting, Knight/ Mage / Archer and any combination thereof.
VILLAINS / ENEMIES: Rebel factions, bandits, outlaws, beasts, monsters, dragons etc.
GAMEPLAY / MECHANICS : In general, the game would feature a brutal and gory combat system, and I mean I would want this game to be borderline gross, haha. Maybe not so much early on when you're low level, but as you gain strength and prowess, heads would roll regularly. Enemies could be pinned to walls with charged arrow shots, hear the muffled screams of enemies frozen in ice only to be shattered by a follow up kick. For human(oid) enemies, combat would be a bit more reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima in that you'd always be capable of defeating them relatively quickly if you employ the proper movesets against them, it'd really be the bigger beasts and monsters that would be the more (potentially) drawn out fights. All enemies would have exploitable weak points to open them up to attack or quick kill opportunities.
+Knight type characters would employ primarily melee oriented combat utilizing all manner of medieval weaponry including swords, shields, maces, flails, spears, hammers, axes etc. All weapons could be thrown at any time. Depending on character builds you could be very fast with weaker strikes focusing more on parrying and getting quick counter-kills or a more tanky powerhouse who deals massive damage with heavy attacks from a warhammer to just squash an enemy's head.
+Archers can use a variety of bows, crossbows, throwing knives, daggers, short swords. Various arrow types work better against different enemy types. As the more agility oriented class (depending on how you spec out a character) this could be the class that would have the most mobility and traversal potential so you could use the environment to your advantage.
+Mages would utilize mostly elemental oriented magic. All spells would have directed and AOE cast types and certain types of enemy monsters would be weak or resistant to specific types of magic and the like. High level spells would have the potential to be simply devastating. Most game's magic I find to be severely underwhelming. I want to see a mage that could eventually just melt an enemy knight in his armor or call a comet out of the sky to land on a wyvern's head.
+ Hybrid character builds could get super interesting. I think a lot of games never really make hybrids very cool, they seem to always just be characters who are kind of good at 2 or 3 things but never very powerful in any of them. I imagine hybrid characters who can do things specializing characters cannot. A melee character with ranged skill for example could obtain the ability to parry arrows into other targets (not necessarily only the enemy who fired at him). A ranged focused character with some magic skill could utilize time dilation to slow time and fire off more accurate shots, or cast a spell after battle to recall all his spent yet unbroken arrows. A druid who has some fighting skill could pull an enemy to his outstretched sword, cutting him in two.
I could think of more, I honestly just wrote most of this as I thought of it, I also don't wanna be the guy posting text walls and this one is already pushin' it, haha. I dunno, I really want a medieval fantasy action game but nothing I know of looks like something that'd scratch the specific itch for it. I'm honestly kind of intrigued by that Crimson Desert game, it seems to be checking a few boxes for me, but I can also see it potentially being a dud.
