Ed Boon trolls fans, says it's done "out of love"

A poster of a spine with the words 'Who's Next?' and a familiar-looking dragon logo at the bottom has appeared, and Mortal Kombat creator (sorry, kreator) Ed Boon has been teasing people for the last few days with cryptic (gah, kryptic) clues (I'll stop now) through his Twitter account.
Boon's been teasing people for a few days with his numbers-based countdown. For a while we suspected it was an Injustice 2, but here's the poster from Reddit that emphatically points towards the tenth Mortal Kombat game:

Looking forward to it. MK 9 was much MUCH better. I had fun with it (gosh, I need to go back and play this game again.) Hope the online fighting works, though. it kept getting disconnected many times that I stopped playing online because of it.
 
And it deserved it. I cant wait to see what they do with this one.

Im hoping its next gen only.
 
Hoping for photo realistic backgrounds, shouldn't be too hard to pull off with these consoles, and please keep it 2d
 
Isn't this typically how NRS has been doing things the last few games? they announce like a week before E3 and then have a little demo to show off on the show floor and then the game releases the following spring? I can't wait to see how it looks, hopefully it's new gen only. MK9 was awesome, so much better than the last few SF games IMO.

I won't be getting this game I don't care what they do with it.

When MK9 released I was mad hyped, pre-ordered the version that came with the bookend statues and premium guide. Stood in line for two hours for the midnight release.

Got a group of like 10 people from TXB all ready to join a room and beat each other to death repeatedly, except no one could stay connected long enough to finish a round, let alone a match.

If they could connect to begin with.

So come 2-3 weeks later and they're holding the PDP tournament to promote MK9. So I go down to where they're holding it and meet some of the FGC elite and ambush Ed Boon on his way back from a break while I was having a smoke on the casino floor. Tell him how big a fan I am of MK and how much I LOVE the new game except the online is broken. Then that fvcker looks me right in the eye and says "we're planning to roll out a new patch just after the DLC hits that will fix all those online issues".

A couple weeks roll by, the DLC is released (which I bought) and no patch... no patch.. no patch. Online was never fixed and after like 6 months they stopped patching it entirely. No balance patches, nothing.

But they did release more DLC tho.
 
I have injustice on PS4 and I've only played it online once but it ran perfectly, hopefully that's a sign of things to come for MK.

I'd love to see one of these fighting games adopt some of the techniques EA uses for fight night and now UFC in how the collisions and muscle work. I love seeing all the muscles moving and tensing- my inner artist squeals with glee at that level of detail on organic objects.

Seeing as there are only two kombatants (sorry), I'd like some more sim-ed effects and materials.
 
As long as it plays as well as MK9, looks better, and has more of everything. Ill buy it day 1.
 
I like the darker tone in it. I hope the game carries that throughout.
 
I like how Sub's leg was broken like 3 times in that fight and he kept walking on it like nothing was wrong. >.>
