Mortal Kombat X

I hope the gameplay is a bit faster.

Me too. After spending so much time with KI, everything else just seems so slow to me.

I like how Sub's leg was broken like 3 times in that fight and he kept walking on it like nothing was wrong. >.>

That's nothing. In the extended version after having his head ripped off, Sub Zero assimilates the tree and continues fighting as some freakish man-tree hybrid. You simply cannot kill the fighting spirit.

I loved the trailer, can't wait to see more! I do wish Sub Zero would beat Scorpion at least once in one of these trailers though but that probably won't happen since Scorpion is Boon's favorite character lol.

Is the trailer representative of next-gen visuals ? Looks like it could be, just with a more cinematic camera usage. Or am I am being overly ambitious ?

Ive watched it a couple times now. There are definitely times where it looks like it could be, at the very least, in engine footage.

So ill get the GOTY version with all the held back characters.

I was thinking that too, everyone is saying it's CGI but if you watch the CGI trailers they've used in the past it looks nothing like that. The fighting area didn't have anything going on in it really, the models look great but not CGI great and the fire effects for Scorpions specials don't look like something that couldn't be done on a console. Either way I thought the trailer was awesome though, other than the music which just didn't fit, I'd rather they'd have used something without any vocals in it at all.

This trailer for Kratos in MK9 is obviously CGI, the new one doesn't look anywhere near this level of fake lol

Exactly. It looks great, but not great enough to be CGI. I think the Cinematic camera use may throw people. The only thing that puts doubt in me was the animations. They were very smooth and unlike any MK game before. Usually they are very jerky and stiff.

I was just checking the TRMK.org forums and found this, it's a tweet from the studio that made the trailer :( oh well hopefully the next gen versions look something like that, I don't see why they couldn't after seeing what some other games look like.

Hi @MKServer This trailer is pure CG, no gameplay footage here.

Hm, I just remembered now in the story of MK9. Does anyone know why Subzero and Scorpion are fighting each other again? I won't spoiler anything but if you saw the end in MK9, then you'll know what I mean. I just hope the story continues from MK9 story.

From Polygon:

Mortal Kombat X is in development on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, according to a press release from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. NetherRealm will debut the fighting game at E3 2014 next week.

"Mortal Kombat has always been about over-the-top, visceral fighting and with Mortal Kombat X we wanted to utilize the power of new-gen consoles to give players our most intense game yet," said Boon, who is NetherRealm's creative director. "The team has worked hard to make sure Mortal Kombat X delivers everything fans expect along with new characters, new game modes and an all-new graphics engine."

The song featured in the trailer is an original track by Wiz Khalifa called "Can't Be Stopped"; it was written exclusively for the trailer.

It appears that online play will exist throughout Mortal Kombat X, with the game offering a "persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy." And for the first time in franchise history, characters will be available in different variations, each of which provides players with tweaks to fighting style and strategy.

Ah it's coming to PS3 as well? Might pick up that version, then. (I have MK9 on PS3).

It will made on the 360/PS3 as well is why:meh: Darn last gen consoles still holding this gen back.

I still don't understand why they include the ps3 an 360. That was last generation. Focus all the attention on what's new now. I think what's going on is they're just greedy and want profits from last gen also.

A persistent online contest? Interesting....

Well, from business standpoint, it is reasonable for them to include PS3/360 versions because they have HUGE HUGE HUGE fanbase. HUGE fanbase=more $$. Personal, I don't see it as a bad sight in my humble opinion. I'm just the type of a person that likes to grab the game and have fun with it without worry about waterdown graphic or something like that.

Chances are they might pull a Titanfall and have a different developer do the last gen version as well.

Because there is like a combined total of 160m 360 and PS3s in homes versus 7-8m PS4 and 4-5m Xbox Ones in homes.

That trailer was awesome. Mortal Kombat X is going to be the pinnacle of fighting games.

Damn, have we as an species forgotten how to make exciting trailers anymore?

I saw this on neogaf, someone put different music over the trailer and it fits much better IMO, unfortunately the sound effects are missing.

The persistent concept sounds intriguing for sure. Should be cool to see how that shapes up.

It does look real good. Still, it's real difficult for me to hand them my money after Ed Boon and the development team straight lied to my face (in person, directly to my face) when MK9 launched with such abysmal netcode, netcode that AFAIK was never fixed.

It could have been that they tried to do what he said and it didn't work like they thought, calling it a lie seems a bit much.

Hopefully, the X1 and PC versions will use Azure.

So pumped for this, the gameplay looks awesome.

I like the darker tone to it.

The fatalities were awesome. Painfully awesome.
