Multiplatform Graphics Discussion [OT]

Forza 5 was by far the best looking racing sim to date. To belittle it because of flat people is beyond stupid! There was like 2 times I even saw the crowd people while playing. I honestly would never notice that going 150 mph around a turn. I'm glad they put resources elsewhere. The game was a stunner, while doing racing physics by a mile better than any of the competition, and at 1080p/60fps.

From everything I've seen, Forza 6 > Forza 5. Yeah, let's belittle the graphics again with bullsh!t reasons, when we've actually never played it.
No its not

I actually agree with you about this, but Driveclub looks really good only in the rain. Other than that during daylight races the game looks just 'okay'.

It is telling that the majority of the screens posted online about DC are nearly 100% rain pics. Just my observation.

Driveclub looked great most of the time. But there were certainly rough edges. Presentation was non existent.

The lighting was the biggest hindrance imo. It went for a realistic look. But it made the game really dark in a lot of places. I think the arcadey saturated look fits games better as it stands with the current hardware.

Val, not sure where you're getting the info from of cardboard cutouts in Forza 6. The fans I saw were dimensional and some were animated and waving flags and such. I'd like to know where you got the info from so I can check it out because it is absolutely false. It goes to show people need to play a game first before making such a grand claim. Whoever you got that info from is an obvious troll as its's patently false.

I think we had enough fun in this thread, and I think Val can only take so much punishment.

Back to the thread topic.

To show my unbias I will go OFF TOPIC like many in this thread and say F5/FH2 are way better games then DC.
Oh noes! but I thought he was teh biased!

Meh.....you shouldn't have to make a statement like that to convey your general attitude.
Actions speak louder than words.

I have no problem with people having a preference, but a certain amount of bias makes conversation irritating.
DC looks good, but in the rain it looks fantastic and even better than any Forza game.
Then again Forza is operating at a near flawless 60fps refresh rate which is 2x that of DC and in daylight races I think the lighting in Forza is a step above DC's.

In a graphics thread both metrics are valid points. I tend to intertwine graphics with framerates because being a PC gamer for the most part framerates have a significant impact on overall visual fidelity/immersion for me.

Made it up.

He honestly has not played it. No need to lie about it . He should take the time to download it and actually try it out. It's a really good game .
What gamertag are you checking to see if he's played it? He said he has two tags.

I am on it again with my account. Will try and take pics

I was actually surprised by how good the rain effects in Forza 6 looked because the rain effects in Horizon 2 sucked imo.

Just went back to look, and yep, guess what, he's totally lying. lol. The crowds are 3d.

I just played it. Three races in and no cardboard cutouts that I saw. If you can't provide proof I'll have to assume you completed made it up.

No they are not.
I am sitting still with my card looking @ them. How in the heck do you take screens with this clunky UI?

EDIT: some of the crowd is 3D(the upclose ones) but the majority are 2D

I have played a little Forza 5 and cleared the Forza 6 demo. I never even noticed crowds so I guess I'm doing it wrong.:(

I have been playing for the last hour and have taken 20 screenshots, and the majority have been all 3D.

I wonder if Val needs a new TV?

Did you look way back in the garages in the distant horizon? Drive back there and see if any of the cardboard people are hiding.
Trackside people are 3d. People in the stands are 2d, like every game because it's stupid to waste resources on distant objects

You cannot tell what the crows up in the stands are. You simply cannot. So, again, was this something you came up with yourself or did you read this somewhere? It's patently false. First you said it was cardboard cutouts. Now it's some are 3D. You're backtracking after making that sweeping claim.

Since some of you checked F6 and says there's 3D crowds, it looks like his assumption was wrong. He assumed F6 would have cardboard cutouts like other Forza games so he could make a fanboy graphics point (as if spectators are even important).

Turns out DC spectators are 3D zombies, and F6 has lots of 3D crowds... and as he said "the upclose ones". So hard to imagine his claim was an honest when:

A. He's anti-MS
B. A weird claim to say it has 2D cutouts when the "up close ones" now are 3D, since the up close ones should be the ones seen first

In other words, he BS'ed it to make a stink. Entrer checked one of his IDs and said he's never played it. I checked his other ID (the one with 94 KI achievements) and it says he hasn't played it either.

All in all, making false claims, a bannable offence to me.

Many gamers on this forum skew to one platform of choice. That's fine and all. Just don't lie about playtesting games or systems you never have.

I can see it clearly on my 4K 65 incher.
I never said the whole crowd.I said it used card board cutouts and it does.
I made a clip not sure how to upload it.

I stopped on very first race, where I'm sure you are, and there were no cutouts on the roadside. They are static but not cutouts. If they are cutouts then they have multiple poses for each cutout because the position changes depending on the camera position. They're nowhere near what the previous games had as you made it out to be.

Dat desperation.

Lots of backtracking.

Apparently cardboard cutouts(if they exist) way out in the distance are why the xb1 can do 1080p 60fps according to Val.

And the guy claims to have a clear 4k 65 inch TV. Yet somehow out of nowhere, now he says he can see some 3D models in the past 10 minutes.

And by coincidence he can't get screenshots or video uploading to work.

Val is on my friends list. I can see his clips and screenshots in the activity feed. They are indeed in 3D in his clip and shots.

Well, tell him to post them! Looks like it works.

Or is he trying to make certain clips and pick and choose ones that look the most like cutouts from weird angles and distance?
