Need some honest impressions BF4 on ps4

Let's be honest with ourselves and "really" look at it (all I did was box out the image and crop it).:

PS4:

It's when you expand the images and really look at it, that you see the pc version is simply better. Looking at condensed images is deceiving.

Thats the first very noticeable comparison I've personally seen. The game looks just bad ass on PC in this one.

And when I get laughed at for claiming you see more on the pc version due to resolution.....maybe someone cares to imagine how many more (sharper) floor tiles are displayed on the pc version and how much more viewing real estate the pc version shows to the left and right of the weapon.

which is which as they both look virtually identical*cough* kinda like how it is in real life when I play both.

And yet I cropped the images to show that they do not....*cough*, look identical. I mean, identical means the same....you can't tell the difference, and clearly, we can see the difference.

Looking at both screens expanded on my TV, I can see textures being sharper on the pc version. The PS4 version simply looks softer.
It sounds like the PS4 screen I took looks softer to you because it is a JPEG being compared to a BMP.

No, I had the PS4 version at the same time I had the pc version. In game, it was obvious that the PS4 was softer and lower res.

It's kinda why I sold my PS4 and went full pc.....because the differences were so obvious to me.

Seriously....are people really trying to say here that they can't tell the difference between the pc version totally maxed out versus the console version? Come on now.

Even eurogamer, who actually does the analysis, says the pc version is the superior version....as opposed to "looks identical".

But with all else being equal in the final build, image quality stands out as the biggest differentiator in terms of defining each console's look. Neither can match the upscale-free 1080p output of the PC for handling tiny water shader details - appearing especially blurred over as a result on Xbox One. It's also curious that both platforms introduce a more aggressive depth-of-field layer during scripted events, where the PC is left largely unaffected.

Elbowing into the tussle is, as always, the PC version with its higher-grade particle and alpha effects, superior object draw distance and more refined shadow detailing at ultra settings.

I need to see actual picture proof of this softness between 900p and 1080p. You have too strong of a bias towards PC to not let it affect your storytelling and skew the truth.

It's not a bias, it's fact. Even other sources that do proper analysis have said the pc version is the superior version. The ps4 version is not "identical" to the pc version. That's flat out false.

I just really find it funny. It's like, hey, look at my screens, they are identical, I can't tell the difference. Then, when difference is pointed out, it's....oh, it's because of different image format (but before, it was said a difference wasn't seen.....which is is?).

Now, I'm being asked for "proof" that there's a difference? And then being called bias for claiming there's a difference? Funny, since every source admits pc version is superior.

And then, Valliance.....that's the funny one, as he claims differences between PS4 and XB1, yet calls the pc version identical. That's comedy gold.

With that said, and I've said this a few times, the PS4 is pretty close to pc quality, but it's not "identical" to pc ultra at 1080p+ with over 100% resolution scaling.

By the way, the images I did the cropped comparison are both bmp images. I do notice that from my pc images, the pc jpg is better than the pc bmp, but even using the pc bmp images, it's still better than the PS4 bmp images.

No matter how close the image gets to pc....the resolution and resolution scaling is going to be superior to the naked to eye on a 1080p set.

I said identical? Show me where I said "IDENTICAL"

Virtually, meaning, almost entirely.....and both versions are not almost entirely identical. You've also said in the past you couldn't tell the difference. The difference is obvious. If you'r not seeing the difference in real life, then you're not doing a proper comparison.

Is almost 100%?

I will say it again the PS4 version of BF4 is "virtually identical" to the ultra pc version @1080p.

Also I am not sure why you keep mentioning me talking about differences with the X1 and the PS4 versions as I never saw a comparison of both that was done properly on finished software. I give common sense fact comparisons of 1600x900p>1280x720p and the PS4 version up-scaling to 1080p better then the X1 version does.

The console version is close to the pc version running at the same res, fov at 60 and resolution scale at 100%. I myself had said in the past that it looks near pc quality, and in some spots, better.....but then again, that's not maxed out.

Hower, at full 1080p, resolution scaling over 100%, and fov set to 80 or higher....the game is obviously better looking on pc, easy. once you start supersampling those textures and setting the fov to 80 or higher, it's no question that the pc is visually better.

The screen comparisons even show the PC version looking better.

Who said the pc version didn't look better?
I will add .....The PS4 version plays much better IMO though.

Some here said they couldn't tell the difference, and you said it looked nearly identical. There's a difference, and it's not nearly identical when pushed further than 100% resolution scaling.

And, since when did 40-60 fps play better than 60+ fps?

It does look nearly identical.
Pc version dips as well don't make me post some benchmarks and the UI of the pc version BLOWS as its not controller friendly(still need kb/mouse) the voice chat or should I say lack of voice chat is unacceptable in 2013 and match making is done with a web browser.

Not going to argue what displeases me with the pc version in comparison to the ps4 version as I own both versions and see what I see.

Ok, we can go back and forth on what we deem is nearly identical, fact is, PC version is superior in terms of visuals...so, with that said, PC version beats next gen console. Better resolution, better resolution scaling, wider viewing distance meaning more on screen, and all with better performance. If you want to call that nearly identical, so be it...the screens say otherwise.

As for performance, my game rarely ever dips below 60, and when it does, it's usually on laggier servers, and only dips to maybe 55....and again, that's rare.
And me personally...I don't use controller on BF4, so the the IU is fine with me. Voice chat...don't care, but agreed, the web browser blows.

PC version looks leaps a bounds better then the PS4 version, both in screenshots and in motion.

This however doesn't mean the PS4 version sucks.

Never said it did. If anything, I went on and on a few weeks ago about how awesome it was and what a good job they did closing the gap between console and pc.

those screens look better than my ps4 >.>

The bottom one is PS4. I would know (I took it  )

Hahahaha... exactly. Graphical differences between the big three really aren't anything to write home about. They're all similar enough that it's easy to mistake one for the other.

Obviously if you want the best graphically, you need a Microsoft platform (PC)... and if you want the best living room experience, you need a Microsoft platform (X1)... but in terms of meaningful graphical differences, unless your PC is so over-powered that you really can run in 4k at 60fps, and you have an HDTV which can display something as monstrous as that - the differences just aren't a big deal. You're getting effectively the same thing across the big three.

Flynn, quick, take a shot of BF4 on the Xbox One at the same place so we can have a good comparison between all 3.

Oh, there's no doubt we'd see differences when they're side by side/and not in motion... But that's not my point... The point is people can (and do) confuse one for the other. It's not a night and day difference like some imply. A known Sony fan in this thread confused the PS4 version for the PC version, so again (when not side by side), it's very difficult to tell the difference between the PS4, PC, and X1 versions as well.
